Sequels X-MEN 4 release?

I just watched X3 for the first time finally and I gotta say..... if Brett Ratner is coming back, I'd rather there not be a X4

Just a supossition:

Wolverine première in May of 2009 isn't as huge as Fox expected and in the next weeks the boxoffice continue bad, so they start thinking about doing X4, have a few reunions, and finally decide to do it. In that same year, they sign a new writer and plan the beggining of the production for the summer of next year, 2010, to a worldwide premiere in May of 2011.

I dont quite get your logic. How would Wolverine underperforming at the boxoffice be a good thing for the X-Men franchise? If Wolverine tanks you would probably be less likely to see an X-Men sequel. Personally I don't think there will be a sequel regardless of how well the spin-off movies do. Maybe a reboot eventually, but I'd be surprised if we see another X-Men movie before 2015.

Clearly the studio didn't intend an X4, or X3 wouldn't have tried to close off so many storylines and reach a conclusion.

After the production nightmare of X3 - large cast, huge salary bill, contractual headaches, Singer leaving, Marsden leaving, Vaughn leaving, Rousselot leaving, Ratner signing on with eight weeks before filming started - i wouldn't imagine Fox is overly eager to do an X4.

I'd written a story for an X4 that developed and continued the ideas in X3, including bringing in Gambit and some other new characters, but with Gambit set to be in the Wolverine movie, it looks like they are going down a different road.

It's likely that the Magneto movie will become a restart such as X-Men Origins, partly because Magneto's past is probably not seen as enough to create a blockbuster.

but X4 may just be a low priority with FOX, as I think they'll really need to plan this movie out right if it's going to make a pleasing comeback to the X-Men series and those who want to see THE X-MEN
and they've already got a bunch of other comic-book adapation projects already in different stages of production

I think they won't announce the proyect until Wolverine is released, so that would be 2009, and in that case, they'd start filming in 2010, so the release would be 2011, as so soon.

i really want to see an xmen 4 . it could be marvels' response to justice league since avengers is a long way down the road.

If Wolverine wasn't in production, we'd be now hearing rumours and news about the crew of X4... and it would be released in 2009, 3 years after X3, like happened with the previous movies...

I hate to see good news about the Logan movie instead..

i hear you Angamb. I'd written an X4 with Gambit in it (and no Wolverine!) but now Gambit is probably going to be in the Wolverine spin-off, my X4 script feels futile and worthless!

I still can't believe they add Gambit in that movie, really don't understand it... well, I rellly understand it.

They do it for money, because they know peple want X-men, not only Wolverine... they want the spin-off to be a success and try to get it.

the idea of gambit appearing in the wolverine movie doesnt bug me. they make a good team, and hell they even had their own series. its not a bad duo honestly.
its the fact that gambit is in a Wolverine orgin movie thats bugging me. but hey the other x-movies didnt follow the comics anyway. its an AU itself. plus its a chance to see gambit

Well i think X4 is gonna be the "Young X-men" thing which wouldn't be too bad i would love to see how the X-men began. You could have Cyclops Storm Beast Jean and any other characters.
