X-Men - Part 1

I know. The closest we got was a 3 issue arc of Exiles when the corrupt Mutant X Havoc finally arrived in the 616 and the Exiles showed up and helped the X-Men (with Havoc) defeat him. That was cool but if memory serves they weren't even really that explicit that it WAS the Mutant X Havoc... but I could be remembering that wrong.

Oh didnt know that. Never read Exiles. Thats something that should have happened in Uncanny or at least been referenced in a note box somewhere

There may have been but it's been years and I don't remember the story really. I think it involved Maximus Lobo and Wolfcub from the student class. It's also the story where Warren got the sword he was always carrying during Chuck Austen's run (he took it from the Exiles's Magik).

Oh okay. I remember here was a crossover with the teams (that only took place in Exiles) but I never read it. I didnt realize it involved Mutant X

Oh, and you really should try out Exiles if you get the chance I read about the first 90 issues and it was really good for most of it (faultering a bit toward the end with the removal and deaths of certain characters).

I thought the book was amazing and one of the best on the shelves through around issue 40 give or take. After that it was still really good but not as good as the original stuff. Around the time Psylocke came in (and Claremont I think) it really faultered and I got bored of it.

And that right there explains why.

its really sad to see the psuedo-creator of the X-Men, who wrote some of their greatest stories and created and shaped all their most memorable characters back in the day, has become like the most feared and reviled names when attached to those same characters now.

It's not sad at all. People lose their touch, or they lose professional detachment from the characters they definitively wrote.

What's sad is that he, nor the editorial staff, didn't realize he could no longer write good, entertaining stories in this day and age.

He may not realize it but I think the editorial staff does which is why they keep removing him further and further from the main books with each ongoing he gets

Claremont did have a spectacular run of 20yrs. Some writers burn out just like pro athletes do in sports. Look at a guy like Frank Miller, he was one of the top writers in comics now I would go near anything he touches. His stuff is a joke now. El Bastardo makes a great point, the editorial staff failed to realize Claremont was past his prime, they've been burned twice by him now. The first time in 2000 then again in 2004. X-Men Forever was another bust with small audience. I never read his FF but I don't think it was well received. It's also important to remember that Claremont also had plenty of successful runs along side his first X-Men run, Excalibur vol 1, Wolverine vol 1, The New Mutants vol 1, Marvel Tales and Marvel Team-Up vol 1( the good one). He's had great success in his career, just not lately.

As for Iceman making the cross over....it's a waste of time. When AoA Iceman and his tremendous control of his abilities were introduced, fans thought "Hey, why can't 616 Iceman be cool like that?" So, after AoA ended, Iceman received a heavy push with his powers straight through Operation Zero Tolerance. Ever since, he's been cast to the corner of Utopia that I call the "Island of Misfit Toys". Use the Iceman you have that's doing nothing, don't add another. It's the same reason I don't think AoA Jean will cross-over, "our" Jean's return has been constantly looming over our heads. Sabertooth on the other hand, his head was chopped off. The AoA Creed character is structured differently. He's still cunning but not as psychotic. Watching him interact with the 616 X-Men would be more interesting.

Yeah, I don't really want to see Jean or Iceman crossover, but Sabretooth would be cool, as would Nightcrawler. I personally always wanted to see Morph crossover officially but I don't know if he's even still alive or not.

And why the heck did Blink never officially go 616?!!! She was awesome! I know we have the 616 Blink back now but the AoA/Exiles Blink was so cool. Where did the Exiles characters end up anyhow? I never finished that series out.

Blink is leading a slew of new Exiles teams.

Several of the original Exiles, really the only ones left alive, decided to take it upon themselves to act as the new Timebrokers to start new Exiles teams to fix all the broken realities. That includes Blink, Heather, Nocturne, and Morph. They're essentially running the Crystal Palace now.

I think Sabertooth would be the best character to cross over from AOA.616 is dead and it's confirmed it wasn't one of Sinister's clones since his soul is in Hell.I think he'd be the most interesting one.

Plus, Psylocke had a fling with him as well, so then she can have three men chasing after her. Yay.

AoA/Exiles Sabretooth would be interesting to have in 616, just because so so incredibly different from the version they all knew and hated. Seeing him interact with Wolverine would be kind of fascinating.

Holy crap. I forgot that AoA Sabretooth and Exiles Sabretooth were the same person. How the hell can he be in the AoA universe when he's supposed to be trapped in the Crystal Palace along with the New Exiles?

an alternate AoA universe?

If that's the case, then I refuse to call the universe X-Force is in "AoA."

AoA Sabretooth is really only different from the 616 Sabretooth insofar as he's a blonde version of the 616 Wolverine. I don't see much point in having two guys who are basically the same running around the same universe under two different names...
