X-Men - Part 1

I think it's pretty clear that Wolverine will get X-Force on his side, it looks like Colossus is going to side with Wolverine. Maybe the team in X-Men: Legacy will side with Wolverine considering the characters it's going to focus on (Magneto, Gambit, Rogue, Frenzy). Shadowcat and Jubilee are very close to Logan and probably have more loyalty towards him than Scott.
Sheesh. Gambit is such an underused X-man, he'd be lucky to get an honorable mention in this event... :(

Ugh. You Gambit fans. :whatever: At this point, every X-Men fan is begging for their favorite character to get some spotlight time-- unless you're already a fan of Scott, Emma, Logan, or Rogue.

The sad result of all the X-men books pretty much featuring the same four mutants instead of letting some of the others get a chance to shine. I miss the days when each book had its own roster. :(

I think they should have killed Cyclops in Second Coming

I don't know about that, though it would have had interesting repercussions. I've always felt they should have killed Xavier in Second Coming, as he's played his role in the X-Universe, but to kill off Cyclops... I don't know. It'd feel wierd without one of the two of them leading. Storm is the next in line but she doesn't really feel like a part of the team anymore and I just can't get into the idea of Magneto or Wolverine being the main leader.

Seriously, if all that played out, and with Jean and Nightcrawler dead... I don't know WHO would step up to lead and still feel genuine. My first instinct is Warren but not with his current mentality. After him is likely either Sam or Dani... and while that'd be very interesting and fairly organic I'd imagine it would be hard to see people like Bobby or Beast following either of them.

Cyclops death would force a new leader to step up. Storm would most likely take on more responsibility but Xavier might have done so as well since he's taken such a backseat in recent years. Besides there doesnt have to be one main leader. It could be a collabhorative effort between a few leaders in the X-world

I think killing off both Scott and xavier would be interesting as it would force everyone else to step up. Bobby might finally grow up...might...Storm, Havok, Nightcrawler....could lead teams

Well, Nightcrawler could... if he was still alive. :waa:

he'll be back...Marvel's new adage is that only Uncle Ben and Jean Grey cant come back

I could see Havok leading the X-Men if he gets a push. I don't really see Iceman or Beast as leaders

I think Warrens a good 2nd in command or leading a team but not the whole X-Men same goes for rogue.

Sam and Dani are good Lieutenants and Sam in particular has been groomed to be a future X-Men Leader for years. They seem like the leaders of the next generation if the Orginal five/Giant Size X-Men ever die out.

Strom doen't even feel like an X-Women these days she just hangs around. I don't even know whats going on with her and Black Panther as his living in Hells Kitchen NY right now.

Wolverine is a obvious choice for leader but I've never liked the idea of him as overall leader of the X-Men. Xavier or Scott leading just feels natural.

Magneto led the X-Men/New Mutants once before and Logan did a good job during the Australia days.

Didn't Logan's whole team die under his leadership? (As much as comicbook characters can.)
Not a perfect CV.

Magneto didnt lead the X-men. He was headmaster to the New Mutants. Storm remained X-men leader during those days and called the shots for her team.

I wouldnt say Wolverine was leader during the Australian days. Storm was leader then and when she "died", Psylocke stepped up to the plate. That only lasted a few issues as they were soon dismantled. Logan didnt lead a team till the last X-force series, which I thought he was decent in that role

Wolverine led the team for a minute leading up to Fall of the Mutants...when Storm was off trying to get her powers back from Forge

I don't think Wolverine would be a bad leader. Guy's got decades of tactical experience, after all. But the leader is also the face of the X-Men and their message, to some extent, and the idea that Wolverine could work for either of those things given his current characterization is frankly depressing.

I think the problem most people have with Wolverine possibly becoming the leader of the X-Men is that most of the time, he comes across as not wanting or even caring about leading the whole group. Most of the time, he's content to sit back and let Scott do the heavy lifting, occasionally throwing in his two cents because of his experience, or leading a smaller team ala X-Force. I don't think he wants the fate of a whole race, what little is left of it, resting on his shoulders with all that he's been through already.

Is anyone reading the Age of X crossover in New Mutants and X-Men Legacy? I'm two issues behind and will likely have to push back part 3 this week. I'm just curious how it is.

You know I'm sure most will disagree with me but I always thought killing Jean the 2nd time was pretty uncalled for. I was like "Really? You couldn't just let her and Scott get divorced so you could have him stay with his mistress?" To me it felt like there really was no good reason to kill Jean off other than the powers that be simply didn't like her and rather than work harder and giving her better story material, they kicked her to the curb so they could go on drooling over the snarky blonde.

Just my 2 cents.

This is the part where everyone starts calling me a filthy heathen living in the past, unwilling to embrace the future, etc. :cwink:

Jean's 2nd death had no real effect to me. When I first read it I thought it was a very blah death. I also thought for sure that Morrison was going to reverse it quickly in his last arc. The fact that he didn't honestly surprised me.

Meh, I never thought Morrison was as good as everyone hyped him up to be anyway.

It feels very unnecesary but it will have larger implications later in the year so its not skippable. I felt a bit lost reading through it

I think sometimes writers killing off chacraters is just a sign the writers are lazy and can't come up with anything better than a death for cheap shock value.
