X-Men - Part 1

Pete Wisdom is still snarky and drinks beer, even though he's running MI:13. He doesn't chain smoke anymore, sure, but that's because nobody in a Marvel comic is allowed to be shown smoking anymore.

I wonder if Quesada's new position still gives him the power to enforce that rule.

what is Joe Qs new position? was it a promotion? is he still making creative decisions?

He's Marvel's Chief Creative Officer, a job that basically expands his power to include other media in addition to comics. The EIC is Axel Alonso, the dude who took over the X-Men comics after Mike "Decimation" Marts.

Potentially, he can now screw things up in movies and TV shows. I'm not sure how much power he has there, though.

I love that line-up but there's nothing that could get me back into AXM unless it became a regular in-continuity X-book.

Guess ya didn't catch all the rest of the article:

While in the past Astonishing X-Men had been, for the most part, separate from current goings-on in the other X-titles, the comic will now be integrated much closer with the rest of Marvel’s publishing line.

;)

Didn't they promise that at the beginning of Ellis' run, only for it to be taken out of continuity because Ellis wasn't keeping up with the post-Utopia status quo?

That sounded vague as usual. I'll keep my eye on it though.
It'll probably amount to as long as the creators can keep to schedule. The minute the book gets delayed, they'll say well its not in continuity to explain why its not keeping up iwth anything else in the other books

Is Ellis's run officially out of continuity? As in is Forge alive now? I'm just curious.

His run is canon. Its not in continuity in that nothing that happens outisde of his book has a direct effect on it. Example, Beast quit the X-men in Uncanny afterhaving a big fallout with Scott, yet he remained with the team in AXM as Scott's friend

Ah, that crap. Astonishing has suffered from that since Whedon's return on the book with issue 13. That's why the book is a joke.

Art was probably one of the better things about that series
SWORD? Everything about that series was fantastic. Even the art was great outside of the artist's weird, goat-like interpretation of Beast. It didn't succeed because the comic-reading audience is a bunch of worthless philistines who'd rather read Wolverine's seventeenth series instead of something fresh and interesting. :o

But I'm over the SWORD thing. Honest.

I didn't like the art. But the story was so intriguing I was able to ignore the art for once.

SWORD didnt have any interesting characters worth keeping up with it for. Ive always found Beast to be the blandest of the O5 X-men and I cant stand Brand. Surrounding them around Kitty, Colossus and Storm is the best thing Marvel could have done to build interest around them as part of a main cast together

And that is why your opinions suck.
and apparently the rest of the majority of comic readers as seen by the early cancellation of the series due to the lack of sales

So you're basing your sucky opinion on the fact that you share the same opinion as the sucky opinion having majority? The same majority that continues to buy the hell outta Bendis' tripe? Good luck with that.

Im basing my opinion based on what I feel about the characters, nothing else. Whats up with the attitude?

I'm in a bad place right now. Sorry for taking it out on you.

With the exception of the artist rendition of Beast SWORD was great. It was just made all the cooler by including Death's Head!!

Haha, I only knew what Death's Head looked like before that series, but now I want to read some of his old stuff.

It was nice to see where Brand's attraction to Beast comes from, too. :funny:
