X-Men - Part 6

The point is it's an alternate dimension that one of the characters has control over that's isolated from the Earth's atmosphere. Would you rather they lived on the blue area of the moon?

I wish I knew what life was like in Limbo. This status quo needs to be fleshed out. Why would Extraordinary make a huge location change and then tell most of its stories away from that location?

Utopia > Limbo
Decimation > Terrigin Mist

I've been a longtime X-men fan for decades; I know what Limbo is. Thank you. And thanks for never answering the question.

It happened during the 8 month gap (so off panel, very little development). But we got a brief flashback of Magik and some other magic users transporting the school. I believe it was Storm's decision to do it.

Thanks. So its actually safe now? Thats not really a place anyone went without Magik's supervision. Its been dangerous in the past and even the demons there didnt always obey her. Storm isnt worried about longterm effects of the kids actually living there? (in the original story, Magik was aged rapidly and lost her innocence)

Magik was knocked unconscious for a couple of issues and demons attacked the school. It's safe as long as Magik is alive and well. If anything happens to Magik the school, X-men, and students are completely screwed. The long term effects like aging-up and such haven't really been addressed, though whether or not Storm made the right choice will be an ongoing concern.

So. I've lost some touch on the Xverse...I hear some good and bad things...any worth reading?

Depends on what you're interested in reading about. It's extremely obvious that this is the least Marvel has ever cared about the X-men. The art and writing is painfully mediocre.

Generally, people seem to like Uncanny the best. The cast is Magneto, Psylocke, Sabretooth, Monet, and Archangel, with Mystique and Fantomex doing some undercover work. It feels like it has a purpose and is leading somewhere interesting.

All New X-men is about the time displaced original X-men (minus Jean) and Oya and Kid Apocalypse as they kind of road trip around America doing superhero stuff. It's the most character driven so I like it, though some hate the time displaced original X-men.

Extraordinary X-men is the flagship and has an all star cast of Storm, Teen Jean, Magik, Colossus, Old Man Logan, Iceman, Nightcrawler, and a couple of the students. It sets the status quo but the writing is pretty superficial and the art is awful (depends if you like Ramos or not).

I'm not reading any of the solos, though I'll pick up Deadpool vs Gambit when it comes out.

I have astonishing xmen. ...I got most jean/phoenix related stuff - the old and latest reincarnation...at least from over 5 years ago. I'm interested in reading more of psylocke....Deadpool I have...and I'm pretty sure I have other xmen comics too. I should probably break them out and give em a read again

I reread Extraordinary today and I only saw that Magik side-story for the first time. I must have went to the wrong site to read it. I only now read comics online bcos they are pricey and I couldn't afford it anymore :csad: Like I kinda feel bad for reading them for free.

I'm the same. I just couldn't afford it anymore. It was either read them online for free or don't read them at all. But I try to make up for it in occasionally buying trades from my local comic shop when I like a series or story.

Marvel Unlimited is a good deal if you want to read past stories, but then you're constantly behind.

Yeah same, I only now buy Trade Paperbacks if I liked a certain story but it only happens like once in six moths.

So I finally finished my catching up to X-Men comic-books routine today after I stopped reading them in 2011. Astonishing was the last one and I would have finished it earlier if I didn't binge read Inhumans too. I liked the centric story-arcs for Karma and Iceman. And I have to say that even though the X-books aren't really exciting this decade, they still managed to give us pretty good new X-members. Warbird, Firestar (as a X-Woman), Frenzy and M are pretty good additions to the X-Men!

and I also just read the Regenesis one-shot and ugh, it was like this last big puzzle that I didn't read and when I read it, everything came together even if I didn't read the other one-shots/cross-overs like AvX.

Really can't wait for Civil War II X-Men. Because I officially love Inhumans after binge reading like 70 or more issues of them and I just learned this week that Civil War X-Men is gonna have that Inhumans vs X-Men thing finally. And I liked seeing Frenzy/Beast in Inhumans. So I can't wait for it!

First issue of All New Inhumans. At first, they made it look she attacked New Attilan because of the terrigen mist killing mutants but it turned out it was just a show for the media that were there. Frenzy was just working for Crystal in-exchange of them helping mutants with their resources and Crystal juts wanted to show the media what Inhumans are dealing with regularly.

May 2016 sales from ComiChron
22 All-New X-Men #9 (51,549)
23 Uncanny X-Men #7 (50,936)
24 Extraordinary X-Men #10 (50,015)

So she used Frenzy to make Inhumans look like heroes at the mutants' expense??

super *****ey on her part, and kinda dumb on Frenzy's

marvel.. still tryin' to 'make fetch happen' with the Inhumans, lol

Well, they need an oppressed minority metaphor and Fox is never letting those X-Men rights go, so...

I get why their doing it, makes sense, but the Inhumans are just nowhere near as interesting or cool as the X-Men, the only one I ever found interesting was Black Bolt and he's kinda taken a bit of a back seat

When your most notable member has hair powers, you're never going to compare

They're just different. The interesting thing about them isn't their powers. For example, my favorite two characters are Karnak and Lockjaw. Lockjaw's interesting trait isn't his teleportation power.

I like them both though X-Men is bigger. I guess Marvel needs to do more to make Inhumans "happen", the new characters that are in AllNew/Uncanny have potential but they still need to do more with the story-arcs and I guess this would really take more years for them to really break-out especially if the Inhumans movie is being released in the next decade.

So anyone read Civil War II: X-Men?

I thought its the best X-book that came out this year, I just liked seeing the mutants of Extraordinary/Uncanny finally together and thank God, they didn't include the All-New mutants. And them escaping from the cloud was kinda intense and there were human sentinels. Magneto here is giving me AvX Cyclops vibes which is not good but we'll see. I don't care about Magneto so I won't mind if they kill him off too. Like Psylocke should be the leader/lead of Uncanny X-Men and not Magneto.

And I have to say the Uncanny team is so small. I don't get why keep featuring Fantomex/Mystique in the covers, they are almost non-existent even if Fantomex just appeared in the latest Uncanny issue (well I'm kinda over with these Apocalypse Wars story-arcs). I also never liked Mystique/Fantomex in the X-Men before and they aren't really doing anything right now. Like I want to see them include Gambit, like Gambit just recently appeared in Uncanny Avengers, I didn't read it but he was back at stealing stuff and he and Rogue talked a bit but nothing else. So put more X-Men in Uncanny like Gambit.

But yeah I enjoyed Civil War II: X-Men. And I cannot wait for the next issue!

You are probably one of the few still reading the books so I would say no
