X-Men - Part 6

yeah but all sales are pretty much down outside of events, and none of the team books resonate as much as X-Men used to. I think the fact that Cyclops is in Champions is reassuring though... it almost feels like Marvel is waiting for something *cough*rightsdealwithFox*cough* before they bring the X-Men (and FF for that matter) back to their full glory, but not trying to completely push them aside

I picked up Generation M but was that her last issue before she appeared in X-Force? Well actually I'm not sure, I think I'm mixing her up with Stacy X who also lost her powers and then appeared in Generation M.

That was Stacy X who then went on to join the former mutant version of New Warriors and died there. Though I think I heard she came back in that mini that introduced Ms. America Chavez... Vengeance I think.

Morrow appeared in a Spider-Man one-shot after leaving the X-Men and then joined the Weapon X ongoing by Fank Terri (great though unfinished book). After that I don't think she appeared again until after M-Day where she appeared in Peter David's X-Factor. I think that's the last place we saw her prior to Cable & X-Force.

I dont think Marvel cares. They screwed over the X-men and X-men fans a long time ago. Sales are down and the franchise doesnt resonate anymore like it used to. They are fully aware of this and dont seem invested in the X-line as a whole. It almost seems like it exists as an obligation
It doesn't resonate like it used to because Marvel made it that way. With today's socio/political climate X-men should be as popular as ever. The property can tell important stories but it's not.

well thats my point; they dont care. The de-emphasis on the X-line started a decade ago as they tried to boost up the Avengers as their premier franchise. Now they've been pushed further down the line behind the Inhumans

it still lasted only a year. It only got to 20 issues bc they double shipped it for several months when it launched

Astonishing X-men debuted 10 years ago. Different time, different Marvel

What I meant is... at that time, they didn't cancel all their titles relaunched them back to #1. The Uncanny X-Men 3 launch made sense and yet the other like Astonishing continued. That isn't the case here.

Anyway, Marvel relaunching X-titles every year, it would hurt them in the long run.

According to uncannyxmen.net (the fansite), she later appeared in a Weapon X issue with Deadpool. And speaking of Stacy X :ilv: she was loltastic! God, those writers treated her really badly but I love flawed characters and her leaving the X-Men like that was loltastic yet pretty sad. They didn't try to redeem her.

As for the current state of the comics. I'm fine with the X-Men taking the backseat for a while, like 3 to 4 years ago, there are just plenty of core X-titles every month (Uncanny/Legacy/Adjectiveless/Xtreme/AllNew/Watx) and some of them felt unnecessary to me. And I'm just glad that Marvel isn't trying something crazy with releasing so many X-books, like releasing a series with a title of Occupy X-Men or U.S.X-Men then having so many new faces to the team that wouldn't even matter in 2 to 5 years from now. Like I said before, in the 2000s and early 2010s, there were just too many mutants that joined the X-Men that didn't last long. I'm just not happy with relaunching so soon. Like I'm fine with All New being done, but Uncanny/extraordinary, I want them to continue them without going back to 1.

I dont think it even did as Uncanny X-men vol 3 just continued off where vol 2 left off (just as vol 1 did before it). It wasnt like the current Uncanny X-men which went in a completely different direction with a new cast

Anyway, Marvel is clearly not relaunching every book as part of this initiative, so maybe wait and see?

I liked her under Carrey, her creator. But then along came Chuck Austen and his history with porn comics. She never stood a chance.

To me what I liked the early 2000s with the core titles, is that they had three groups of X-Men and each team only appeared in 1 book (Xtreme, Adjectiveless and Uncanny). Stories/characters didn't overlap that much. Like what I didn't like about the comics in the 90s was it was a cross-over galore and a lot of stories started in Uncanny then it continued to Adjectiveless or Unlimited. And as someone who only started reading X-Men comics in the mid-2000s, binge reading the comics from the 90s was quite frustrating.

I liked Carey's run in Uncanny. Chuck Austen was ok though I thought the Draco issues were quite poor. I did like Juggernaut's relationship with Squid Boy and Polaris's crazy side. New X-Men was quite entertaining, like I wish it had a different artist but the stories there were pretty good. It kinda reminded me of Astonishing but I prefer New X-Men more.

However Xtreme.... I did not enjoy it all. This might be an unpopular opinion, but Chris Claremont is probably like one of my least favorite writers in the X-Men comics especially pre-2010. Like I appreciate him creating a lot of X-Men characters that I like. But story-wise, eh. His stories are quite chore to read. Too much narration, the dialogues were too long that I almost forgot what I read after I finished reading the final page. Like back in the mid-2000s when I was a beginner in reading X-comics. I prefer Ultimate, New X-Men (Surge's team) and Adjectiveless way more, than the mid-2000s Uncanny issues with Rachel and Psylocke as the lead and Psylocke is my favorite and I couldn't even enjoy those issues.

Marvel are trying to make those boring Inhumans more popular than the Xmen? Looool. It explains why they won't let anyone create new xmen character. They are afraid someone could create another Deadpool or Wolverine.

They've released a hundred of comics for the last 16 years and they couldn't do that. A lot of the new faces/members to the X-Men just came and went with few exceptions.

Anyway, like I said before I'm happy that X-Men is taking the backseat at the moment in the comics. Recently, Marvel did a lot of gimmicks to their non X-Men properties when it came to the comics (GWenpool, female Thor, dozens of heroes joining the Avengers, a bunch of solo comics that came and went) and the less they do to the X-Men now, the better. Maybe when their comics start to deliver again then they should bombard us with many X-titles again.

I'm seeing plenty of mutants created this year:
Azimuth, Aries, Juice, Pillar, Sapna, Sebastian, Tarpit, Uppercut

Even if we were to go back a couple years, I'm seeing mutants created in 2012, 2013, and 2014: Eye Boy (2012), Fabio Medina (2013), Shark Girl (2013), Triage (2013), and Nature Girl (2014).

It's been a while since I read the Cyclops series. Did the series keep going? I think I stopped at 10.

The post AvX mutant creation contest Bendis and Aaron had was great.

They've been building for awhile. I'm glad to see this story come to a head and hopefully have a satisfying conclusion.

As long as it's better than the ****fest that was AvX.

I'm sick of heroes fighting each other. They just need an excuse to let the Inhumans hijack X-men panels and events.

I miss the days when the Inhumans were ****ing up space empires. That was awesome. Them just doing stuff on Earth is meh in comparison.

I'd love to see them go back out there with all the new Inhumans.

"We're back *****es!"

What X-Men events? The last X-Men event was AvX, wasn't it? And that was the Avengers "hijacking" it based on your logic.
