For all those who haven't purchased the hardcover Art of X2, you can read the original production script. It's really interesting to see Anne Renyolds as Stryker's assistant and to see Toad as the Deathstrike-esque character.

Dialogue is given to other characters and the ending is different than the film. It's a good read over all.

Cool, I am definetly going to check that out. Thanks for sharing :)

that was an intresting read, and no Phoenix in it really no dieing at the end .

I'm liking the Rogue in this script. :D

During the mansion invasion, when Wolverine first meets up with Stryker, and Rogue realizes that the soldiers might kill Logan, she tells Bobby to "Do Something." about it. She gets a non-response from Bobby so she "RIPS OFF HER GLOVES...AND GRABS HIS BARE ARM."

That's my Rogue.

OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!OMFG!! OMFG!!!

i'm sorry i think i just climaxed lmao

It's interesting. So everyone lives at the end except Jean is blinded after dueling with Scott. I wonder what they were planning on doing with that angle, if anything. X3 being about her coping with her handicap and about her recovery?

"EXT: WORLD MONTAGE - DAY AND NIGHT

-- DR. HANK MCCOY lifts up a BEAKER. He screams and the beaker falls, shattering on the floor. His hand starts to TWITCH. Suddenly, FUR SPROUTS along his arms and his skin BEGINS TO TURN BLUE.

-- A HOMELESS RED-HEADED WOMAN IN NEW YORK CITY heaves and cries underneath a large black overcoat. Pedestrians gawk and stare as LARGE, SPIKED BONES START TO SPROUT ALL OVER HER BODY.

-- A MAN AT A POKER GAME IN NEW ORLEANS. The cards in his fingers INCINERATE as power pulses through his hands. The other players watch in fear as he starts to convulse."

Holy ****, that would have been so awesome.

holy **** you are right, i only skimmed parts of the script. but whoa Beasts transformation, Marrow, Gambit! AGH!!!

and even though i only skimmed it, did i miss something.. there are no sentinals. Weren't the sentinals written out at the last minute because of Fox cutting the budget?

Those scenes are in Claremont's novelization of the movie (the Beast and Gambit stuff).

I would love to see the scripts that had Sentinels in them get released online

I wonder if they meant that Marrow and Gambit were just reacting to the power-messing-up pain of Dark Cerebro, or if they meant that Dark Cerebro was actually ACTIVATING their powers.

Thanks for the script I finally understand why and how rogue was flying the x-jet at strykers base.

good looking out Bobby

and to think I was going to type out the script myself. Dodged that bullet. whew.

There were no Sentinels any script, to my knowledge, just Penn's original story treatment.

I think a small Sentinel was used to break open Cerebro in the novelization.

So what were they going to do with a blind Jean? Was it meant to be temporary or permanent? What storyline if any did they intend to pursue with that?

It's my understanding that Jean and Cyclops would have left the X-Men, been written out... so no Phoenix, no Dark Phoenix. A blind Jean would be no good as an X-Men member, even with the extra-sensory perception of her psi powers.

The new characters in the Cerebro sequence (Beast, Gambit and maybe Marrow) would probably have been brought in for the next movie.

So, as you can see, the Phoenix saga was not always foreshadowed.

Thank God that it was, though. This script suffers from a massive anticlimax at the end. Jean's death added just the right amount of "oomph" to the third act.

That is REALLY interesting!!! I never thought of it like that!!! Yes, I agree that Jean sacrificing herself at the end certainly added alot of OOMPH to the story, but consider what the writers did with the chars in X3, perhaps removing both of them from the storyline in X2 would have saved alot of anger and stress later with X3. And heck, you could always bring them back. The blindness wouldn't need to be permanent, and you could always have a giant, frightening crisis (ie Apocalypse) that would require them coming back to help save the day.

Isnt the whole blind thing just to hide the Phoenix storyline? Im pretty sure they just wrote her blind so that if the script was leaked, we still would have the surprise of seeing Phoenix.

is this also available on the paperback Art of X2??? cuz thats what im getting!!!!!!

No, this is not the version of the script featured in The Art of X2 book. The script with The Art of X2 Book is essentially the final script, including Jean's sacrifice, etc. This online script is a much older draft. So if you download this script, and get The Art of X2 book, you'll have two different scripts.

oh. so there IS the script in the book? just not this version?

I know there is a script with the hardcover edition of The Art of X2 book. I'm not sure about the paperback version . . . but if the paperback version says it comes with a script, then it is a different script than the one posted online.
