Can anyone see if they can find the script for a movie called "The Mark" It was written by Rob Liefeld and later purchased by Will Smith, but never saw the light of production.

It was essentially a Star Brand rip-off about a man who gets a mark transferred to his hand from a Confederate soldier's corpse that grants him Super powers. I'm thinking the movie Hancock may have evolved from some of it's story concepts.

Thanks,

Hancock didn't evolve from The Mark. Hancock was originally written in 1996 with the title Tonight He Comes and has been in development hell until Pete Berg came on board to direct.

The Mark was another one of Will Smith's project, but never got made. Will Smith, Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin were set to produce. The pic was set up at Nickelodeon Movies / Paramount Pictures.

I am aware of that. Still wouldn't mind reading the script though.

What does this have to do with Marvel?

Back in '86 to celebrate their 25th anniversary, Marvel put out a new line of books called the New Universe. Pretty much people around the world suddenly gain super powers.
One of the titles was Star Brand, about a man who is given a tattoo by an old man that grants him the ability to do pretty much anything he can imagine.
In the early nineties, after he, Jim Lee, MacFarlane and Eric Larsen had founded Image, Rob Liefeld sold a movie pitch to Will Smith called "The Mark" (see first post)
