About as much as one can argue that x-3 suckiness made people lose faith in comic book movies and that's why SR didn't do so well...
Superman didn't do well because of many reasons... like i have said from day one...
1) Superman is as iconic as mickey mouse and bugs bunny... you pic and actor that doesnt have the exact look (not a tom welling and not a chris reeves) your going to loose people. Agree or disagree i don't care, but when the teaser hit with HP:GOF PEOPLE ACTUALLY BOO'd
2) They made a HUGE vital mistake by making it a sequal... Batman Begins did well because it started over clean and fresh the old movies were good, but its been 20 years.. dont make a sequal to it, it wont fit.
3) Lex... again... People have scene lex from the movies, the cartoons, and from smallville, hes played out.. give the audience something they havent seen thats hollywoods biggest mistake these days, there afraid to take chances... thats why we have sequal after sequal and Tv show turned movie, year after year.
4) The baby... Why do that? WHY... now there stuck with the super brat, you cant kill him, and if you depower him he's still going to be there. The baby will forever be in the sequals now, and now be in need of expanding parts... and less focus on supes
and finally
5) The dumb ass marketing genius who decided to put it a week before pirates (that man should have been fired a long time ago)
People want to see something different when they go to a movie theater, something they haven't seen before, and SR was not that. It was the same hero that they can watch on the TV in there own house every week, and the same hero who had 4 movies already. All Bryan did was put Superman in different situations of a humanity drivin life.. rather then of a superhuman life. and ditched the idea of a villain for supes to actually fight.
agree or dissagree... i could care less
