X3 Box Office Tracker

As long as Bryan Singer stays away from the Wolverine movie it will be great.:o

Box office numbers updated

Japan is the only country X3 hasn't been released in. So it's quite possible that the movie will end up with 460/470 Million.

Any news on the release in China?

Have not read anything about it.

Checked on X3's official site release calender and noticed that China is not on it.

Its kind of weird since the last x-men film, X2, díd get approved for release.

With X2, Stryker could be viewed as a maverick rather than a representative of the government, whereas in X3 there are scenes of people protesting and fighting against the government.

Its a shame the goverment there is so strick and the censors so backward. China has a population of well over a billion people. If Hollywood can tap in to that market they could make a real killing.

I've just seen this comment Retro.. and am surprised. I thought you were a Singer fan and a SR fan...

Wolverine will no doubt be of a rating that allows kids to get to see it, but it does need to be edgy and dark, but not so serious or toned down that other comicbook characters can't exist in it comfortably.

According to sources close to the movie, "Last Stand" cost about $168 million after tax rebates.

If that number is true, X3 is a phenomenal profit. X4 is a given.

That recent article comparing Superman Returns and X-Men gave the figure. And yes, X3 was hugely profitable if that was the case, and it still hasn't opened in certain territories, and there are still the rental and DVD sales to come.

In a new interview with Premiere magazine Jackman talked about how he wanted to show this and he also says it will be smaller scale film.

I wouldn't mind the guy who made Narc to get a crack at this.

more reasons for X4? look at boxoffice, enough to be greenlight!!!

FOX should realize this movies are so profitable for them. X4 should be done without some of the big names. They could spend that money in new sets and effects.

Agreed! I'd love to see Cyclops return and run the school with Beast and maybe Storm, then have the younger mutants(Jubilee should finally get something to do!) and some new additions - Gambit, Emma Frost etc. I do think they should take their time with an X4 though, if they go ahead with it.

I'm curious if they kept some of the X-Men TLS sets like the Cerebro, the Danger Room, X-Jet etc. or decided to dismantle them.Hmm..

BTW speaking of sets. Did you know that the X2 mansion's interior set was reused for a major sequence in I, Robot? It was also destroyed in the process.

The Japan opening is creeping up now. Hopefully we'll get a final flourish to take the figures into the high 400s.

Oh has it not been released in Japan yet? I thought the premiere was a while ago. That should get it past $450million shouldn't it?

9 Sep is Japan's opening according to Retro's excerpt from the official site above. X2 made over $15m in Japan so I think X3 will clear $450m easily with the Japanese contribution.

The main problem with Japan's BO is this long hiatus since the movie was released in USA. I'm sure a lot of people just downloaded a bootleg version of the movie.

Does anybody know X2's Japanese realease date??

3rd May 03 (according to Box Office Mojo) - ie not a delayed release. The BO could be less than X2 because of this but I still expect it to make enough to push the worldwide take past $450m.

And how might that come about given he's dead?

Is he though, hmmm?;)

That's good news, I also expect the worldwide take to pass the $450million mark so.
