Xenoblade Chronicles 2 version 1.1.1 update detailed, launches December 22
Published 15 hours ago. 205 comments.

Bug fixes and additional improvements.

Xenoblade-2-Update_12-13-17.jpg

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 director Tetsuya Takahashi has detailed the game’s version 1.1.1 update, which will launch on December 22.

Get the details below.
Greetings to everyone playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2. This is Director Takahashi at Monolith Soft. Today I’d like to talk about the main updates that will be seen in the Ver. 1.1.1 update, which will be distributed next week on Friday, December 22.
In addition to some bug fixes, we will address the following points:

    • An easy mode will be added to Tiger! Tiger!
    • When you press the X button, the Skip Travel screen will open the map to your current location. We hope this will make it easier to spot Skip Travel locations and Salvage Points on the map.
    • An additional 1:1 zoom on the mini map will be displayed by pressing the L Stick. This will allow improved visibility of your surroundings and make it easier to check quest locations.

We will further improve the convenience of the mini map as we add more quests and additional elements for second playthroughs next year for all players (not just those who purchased the Expansion Pass!) We appreciate your continued patience.

    • In your second playthrough, you will be able to have “those” Blades join your party! You can also dispatch Blades like Pyra and Dromarch as a Merc Group, and unlock the “LV 4 Special” of a certain Blade.
    • We will distribute the following useful items to those who purchased the Expansion Pass:
      • Driver Essentials Set: 10 x Rare Core Crystal, 1 x Legendary Core Crystal, 3 x Overdrive Protocol
      • Upgrade Parts for Poppi: 30,000 ether
      • Pyra’s Favorite Things: 5 x Jenerossi Tea
      • Nia’s Favourite Things: 5 x Ardainian Bear Carving

Monolith Soft will continue to add improvements that will make the world of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 even more enjoyable for a long time. And even though there may be times when we cannot address every need immediately because we are working on these improvements in parallel with the Expansion Pass, we truly appreciate your continued support for Xenoblade Chronicles 2!

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 version 1.3.0 update launches mid-February, adds New Game Plus mode

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2-Update_01-26-18.jpg

The version 1.3.0 update for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will launch in mid-February and add a “New Game Plus” mode called “Advanced New Game Mode,” as well as fix a big that surfaced in the version 1.2.0 update, Monolith Soft director Tetsuya Takahashi said in a new production note.

Here is the full message from Takahashi:
In the version 1.2.0 update, there is a bug in certain instances during and after Chapter 7 where a Blade linked with a specific Driver disappears from the Blade List (it only disappears from the list, the Blade itself does not disappear).

This is a bug that occurred during the process of adding the second playthrough element called “Advanced New Game Mode,” which will be implemented in the version 1.3.0 update planned for mid-February.

We apologize for the inconvenience for the about half a month that remains, but we are working hard on the development of the update, so please give us your patience.

More information regarding the specific updated content of version 1.3.0 will be shared leading up to its release.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 version 1.3.0 update launches next week, details[
Published 1 hour ago. 34 comments.

Read all about the New Game Plus mode.

The version 1.3.0 update for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will launch next week (between February 12 and 16), Nintendo announced.
Here are details on the update, via a production note by Monolith Soft director Tetsuya Takahashi:
? Advanced New Game Mode
First, regarding “Advanced New Game Mode.” This is a second playthrough element that everyone who cleared the game will be able to play, but rather than it simply be a second playthrough, several new specifications have been added. The specific contents are as follows:

1. It is possible to befriend Blades on the Torna side as player Blades such as Obrona, Sever, Perdido, and Cressidus.

2. Additionally, Akhos, Patroka, and Mikhail from Torna can be befriended as Blades.
You will be able to awaken them through Blade Resonance from any Core Crystal (otherwise, encounter them during a quest and befriend them that way). Of course, there is a chance that they will appear from a common Core Crystal even at the beginning of the game.

Although this specification can cause things to fall apart on the story side, we gave greater priority to the fun of it as a game. Be sure to awaken them!

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_02-08-18_001.jpg

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_02-08-18_002.jpg

3. All Blade Mercenaries can be dispatched. At the same time, Blades such as Pyra and Mythra that you could not leave your party in your first playthrough can also be dispatched.

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_02-08-18_003.jpg

4. Unlocks a Driver’s “Reverse Affinity Chart” and adds even further growth.

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_02-08-18_004.jpg

5. You can level-down a Driver’s level at inns, as well as earn bonus EXP depending on the lowered level.
Bonus EXP can be used to barter for special items. There are even items that can increase the number of Driver accessories that can be equipped, so be sure to barter away. If you talk to the “Troubadour” that appears on each Titan, you can barter with them.'

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_02-08-18_005.jpg

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_02-08-18_006.jpg

6. A certain Blade’s Level 4 special move is unlocked.
What Carries Over
The following content will carry over from the clear data of your first playthrough into Advanced New Game Mode:

    • Driver level
    • Driver and Blade equipment and growth elements
    • Awakened Blades
    • Acquired items and gold
    • Town development degree and Mercenaries level
    • Event Theater contents and Unique Monster kills

Quests, Heart-to-Hearts, Skip Travel points, and cleared Mercenary Missions will reset.
? Other Updates
In addition to the second playthrough element, the following five updates will also be available in your first playthrough.
1. A system has been implemented to lock awakened Blades from the list.
By locking an awakened Blade on the menu, you can make it impossible to release. This also improves its visibility. “My 4 Star Common Blade is out!” Be sure to use this system at such times.

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_02-08-18_007.jpg

2. An option has been added to skip the cutscene when awakening a Blade.
3. When the mini-map is enlarged, each icon set on the Skip Travel screen is displayed.
4. “Easy Mode” has been added to the game’s difficulty options.
*The difficulty option you have been playing will become “Normal.” You can change the difficulty at any time during the game in the options menu.
5. New sorting options have been added to Accessories, Assist Cores, Blade List, etc.
? Expansion Pass Buyers
Users who purchase the “Expansion Pass” will also get the “Helpful Items Pack 4.”

[Xenoblade Chronicles 2 version 1.4.0 update launches April 27, adds two new Rare Blades
Published 6 hours ago. 54 comments.
Meet Poppi Buster and T-elos Re:.

The version 1.4.0 update for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will launch on April 27 and add two new Rare Blades, Nintendo announced.
Here are details on the update, via a production note by Monolith Soft director Tetsuya Takahashi:
Poppi Buster
First, Poppi Buster.

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_04-23-18_001.jpg

A Rare Blade that can only be obtained by users who purchased the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Expansion Pass.
The Blade is designed by Masatsugu Saito.

While Poppi is an artificial Blade exclusively for Tora, Poppi Buster is an artificial Blade designed for use by characters other than Tora.

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_04-23-18_002.jpg

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_04-23-18_003.jpg

Poppi Buster is obtained via a quest, not through Blade resonance.
What is with the yellow-haired Poppi that rides on its hand? And what is that antenna-looking thing on top of its head? While there may be many things on your mind, please be sure to check them out for yourself by doing the Poppi Buster’s dedicated quest.
T-elos Re:
T-elos Re: is a Rare Blade created with the cooperation of Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is the gift character mentioned in a previous production note rewarded to players who clear the game once.

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_04-23-18_004.jpg

T-elos Re: appeared as a rival character to KOS-MOS in the Xenosaga series.
The Blade is designed by CHOCO.
Actually, CHOCO, who knew that Kunihiko Tanaka “always kept respect for CHOCO in mind” when designing KOS-MOS Re:, designed this T-elos Re: with both the respect and gratitude “that Tanaka gave to me.”
T-elos Re: is a little cuter than when she appeared in the main story of Xenosaga, but according to CHOCO, the point you should focus on is in the visor.
The character modeler kept CHOCO’s thoughts and point of focus in mind, and modeled the character with complete devotion.
T-elos Re: is a Blade that can be obtained by anyone who has cleared the game. In your clear save data, if a star mark can be seen next to your money count in the menu screen, it means that you are good to meet T-elos Re: through Blade resonance.

Xenoblade-Chronicles-2_2018_04-23-18_005.jpg

Although it will be a lottery from Core Crystals, the resonance rate has been set to be considerably higher, so anyone can resonate with T-elos Re: instantly.
Other Updates
Other updates in version 1.4.0 include:

    • On and after your second playthrough, Traveling Bards will be able to exchange EXP for Poppi Parts.
    • New sorting option added to the menu.

Non-Version 1.4.0 Stuff
Starting in May, we plan to add new quests, as well as even more new Rare Blades, challenge battles, an “Extreme” difficulty mode, and more for users who purchased the Expansion Pass.
One particular Rare Blade was designed by a new illustrator and is played by a new voice actor, and will be an Expansion Pass complete original (actually, we just recorded the voice actor’s lines today). Please look forward to it!

    • Added functionality to the Expansion Pass to receive new challenges for the “Challenge Battle: Nopondemonium” called “Otherworldly Fighter” and “Poisoned Paradise.”
      • “Otherworldly Fighter” features a battle against Elma, from the game Xenoblade Chronicles X. Clearing this challenge will allow Elma to join your party as a blade.
      • Pressing the R and Minus buttons at the same time when all three bars of Elma’s party gauge are full will consume all three bars and engage her Overdrive ability.
      • While Overdrive is active, a counter is applied to all attack arts and specials that hit. As the counter goes up, the effect of the following three bonuses increases: damage boost, an Arts recharge boost from auto-attacks, and a decrease in enemy resistance to reactions and combos.
      • Add this challenge by selecting the following options from the main menu: Expansion Pass, Gift from Zuo 3, Nopon Summons, Pt. 2. The challenge is available from Chapter 6 onward.
    • “Flawless Noponstone” has been added as an item available from treasure chests in the “Challenge Battle: Nopondemonium” of the Expansion Pass.
      • To make this item available, select the following options from the main menu: Expansion Pass, Gift from Zuo 3, Nopon Invitation, Pt. 2.
      • Flawless Noponstones can be earned during any of the challenges.
    • Added items that can be acquired in exchange for Flawless Noponstones to the “Challenge Battle: Nopondemonium” section of the Expansion Pass.
      • Some of these items will slightly alter character outfits. Included in these items are “swimsuits” that will aid in completing the challenge “Poisoned Paradise.”
      • Certain items for Nia and Zeke will become available from Chapter 8 onward. (These items will be available from the start when playing New Game Plus.)
      • Mòrag’s swimsuit may cause her hairstyle to change in certain event scenes.
    • A Pouch Item Emporium and Noponstone exchanger have also been added to the “Challenge Battle: Nopondemonium” section of the Expansion Pass.
      • Noponstones can be exchanged for Flawless Noponstones using the Noponstone exchanger.
    • The track “Uncontrollable” from Xenoblade Chronicles X has been added to the options available when choosing which music will play during battles with unique monsters via the “Special BGM” selection.
      • To listen to the Special BGM tracks, the blade Elma, available via the Expansion Pass, must already be added to the party.
      • When Elma and either Shulk or Fiora are in the party, the BGM for the blade engaged with the player character will be given priority.
      • When Elma and Shulk or Fiora are of the same priority, the BGM that plays will be selected at random.
