Splatoon 2’s Squid Sister Stories Tells Us About Marie’s Doubts Over The Final Splatfest. May 2, 2017 . 9:30am

In this newest installment, we get a look into Marie’s thoughts after the final battle as she wonders if her victory has somehow negatively affected her and Callie’s relationship.

6 comments Read
Nintendo has released the second chapter in their ongoing short story, the “Squid Sister Stories,” featuring what happened to Callie & Marie following the Final Splatfest. The intro and prologue can be read here, while the first chapter covered how the Final Splatfest had impacted the Squid Sisters’ lives.

In this newest installment courtesy Splatoon 2’s official website, we get a look into Marie’s thoughts after the final battle as she wonders if her victory has somehow negatively affected her and Callie’s relationship. You can read the chapter below.
Marie was home alone. She’d gotten a day off, but with theater rehearsals starting up next month, she knew life would be returning quickly to its frantic pace. Chances to relax at home like this would soon become few and far between. Knowing work would keep Callie out late, Marie busied herself with the chores that always seemed to pile up and waited for her friend to return home.

At times like this, Marie’s thoughts always seemed to drift…
“How had Callie truly felt when the results of the final Splatfest had been announced? She seemed disappointed, of course, but that was just because she’d lost…right? Or was she actually jealous of my rising popularity? Could she still be holding it against me after all this time?”

“Just listen to yourself, Marie—you’re overthinking this. You know Callie would never feel that way. Maybe all this worrying has actually given you some sort of superiority complex. Maybe winning that final Splatfest has made you full of yourself.”
The very idea stung Marie with a twinge of self-loathing…

Splatoon 2 is set to release on July 21st, 2017 for the Nintendo Switch.

One of the Squid Sisters has gone missing. Find her!

Splatoon-2_05-17-17.jpg

Nintendo has released a new trailer and set of screenshots for Splatoon 2 introducing the game’s single-player mode.

Here’s an overview of the mode, via Nintendo:
In a shocking twist, Callie – of Squid Sisters fame – has gone missing and her right-tentacle squid Marie tasks the player to search for Callie and the Great Zapfish. Players can use different weapons in single-player mode to overcome obstacles, defeat enemies and take down towering bosses – weapons like the Roller, Slosher, Splatling or the new Dualies.

The single-player mode is designed to teach players tips and tricks that they can then use in multiplayer. For more on the Squid Sisters, check out the Squid Sisters Stories here.
Splatoon 2 is due out for Switch on July 21.

The Seventh And Final “Squid Sisters Stories” Sets The Stage For Splatoon 2. May 18, 2017 . 11:30am

In this final chapter, Marie returns to Inktopolis only to be unable to locate Callie. What’s worse, she finds that the city is being threatened once more by the Octarians.

4 comments Read >

Nintendo has shared the seventh and final chapter of their narrative “Squid Sisters Stories,” which tells the story of what happened to Callie & Marie following the Final Splatfest.

In this final chapter, Marie returns to Inkopolis only to be unable to locate Callie. What’s worse, she finds that the city is being threatened once more by the Octarians. You can read it all below. For previous chapters, you can go here.
Quick as she could, Marie arrived in Octo Valley. Cap’n Cuttlefish’s shack was completely deserted. The shack itself was undisturbed, but the snow globe that had stood beside it was a shattered wreck—pieces of glass littered the landscape. Callie was nowhere to be found, and the scene failed to offer up any clues. With a heavy heart, Marie made her way back to Inkopolis.

The city was buzzing with unbelievable news. The Great Zapfish had disappeared! It had vanished once before, but reappeared shortly thereafter.

The people of the city consoled each other, saying, “Chill out! It won’t be gone long this time, either!”
Marie alone shivered in trepidation. “Could he possibly be at it again?”

Marie made up her mind get to the bottom of this.

But if their adversary was who she suspected, this problem would have no quick and easy solution.

Cap’n Cuttlefish wasn’t around to help this time. Her worry for Callie overshadowed everything, and before long, the squidizens of Inkopolis would begin to notice Callie’s absence. If Marie were to disappear, too, at a time like this, it would only add to the chaos. But what else could she do?

There was no choice but to find help, and quickly.

Just as Cap’n Cuttlefish had done before, she would need to enlist a brave recruit to help investigate the depths of the Octarians’ underground base. Thanks to her fame, though, Marie stood out like a sore tentacle in Inkopolis. She had to keep the number of people who knew about the new Octarian threat to a minimum. Secrecy and discretion were, after all, of the utmost importance when it came to the operations of the Squidbeak Splatoon.

Suddenly, the conversation she’d had with Callie at Arowana Mall came rushing back to her. Word on the street was that all the freshest Inklings were hanging out and battling for turf in a new part of town. Surely she could find someone there with the perfect blend of talent and bravery this daring task required.

Her mind made up, Marie set her sights on the new center of squid kid culture, Inkopolis Square!

The story continues in Splatoon 2…

Splatoon 2 will release for the Nintendo Switch on July 21st, 2107.

2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational

  • Time: Tuesday, June 13, Approximately 2:30 p.m. PT

The four four-person teams – “Deadbeat” from the United States, “Dynameu” from Japan, “Rising Moon” from Europe and “Blue Ringed Octolings” from Australia/New Zealand – defeated their rivals in local tournaments that occurred in recent months.
During the show in Los Angeles, teams will battle in a round-robin Turf War tournament that will decide seeding for the next round. All teams will play one another and get a chance to scope out their opponents’ strengths and weaknesses. In the next round, teams will battle in the game’s Ranked Battle modes. The semifinal stage will be a best-of-five battle, while the championship will be best-of-seven.
The winning team of the live-streamed tournament will win global bragging rights and will have their names engraved on a sweet Splatoon 2 trophy. Announcers for the Splatoon 2 tournament will be avid Splatoon player, Nintendo fan, athlete and broadcaster Jordan Kent, Ashley Esqueda of CNET and the Nintendo Treehouse’s Eric Smith.
To help kids and squids get the most out of all the tournament action, prior to E3 Nintendo will release video content highlighting the tactics, strategies and storylines behind competitive Splatoon play.
2017 Arms Open Invitational

  • Time: Wednesday, June 14, Approximately 3:30 p.m. PT
This live-streamed Arms competition will pit four expert competitive gamers from the fighting game community against E3 attendees who qualify during the event. E3 attendees can visit the Nintendo booth between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. PT on Wednesday, June 14, for a chance to win a spot in the finals. The top four competitors will be selected to face off against four pro competitive gamers.
The eight tournament participants will do battle until a champion emerges to win the coveted 2017 Arms Open Invitational championship belt. Announcers for the tourney include Super Smash Bros. broadcasters D1 and VikkiKitty. The participating pro players are Alex Valle of Street Fighter fame; Kelsy Medeiros, aka SuperGirlKels, a professional Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player hailing from Canada; acclaimed Super Smash Bros. player Daniel “Tafokints” Lee; and French Super Smash Bros. player Marie-Laure “Kayane” Norindr, one of the world’s most decorated professional female fighting game players in history

    • Fixed an issue in Rain Maker where players in cover behind thin portions of the environment would take damage as if they had been hit with direct shots from the Rain Maker.
