You Do Your Annoying, Unorthodox Thing That You Do In The Wrestling Thread

I wonder how Kacy Catanzaro will do on NXT?

Better than on the main roster, that is for sure. I don't think she'll have a match until at least the spring.

Having seen her on Ninja Warrior, she's smaller than Alexa. That immediately is a strike against her. If she ever goes up to the main roster, it'll be as a backstage interviewer, because the WWE needs 1,000 more of them to go with the 1,000 they already have.

I do hope Sexy Star is blacklisted from GFW. And if you ever wanted to know what Rosemary would look like if she ever went to the WWE, she'd look like this:

is Kacy smaller than AJ Lee?

I agree that Kacy's size is a strike against her in the ring, which is why I was a bit surprised when I heard the news. But it's certainly not impossible.

Does anyone feel WWE makes these decisions to mess with the hardcore fan base? This thread seems to be busier when fans are pissed.

I think you're giving them too much credit. Much like Al Davis in his later years, Vince is destroying his brand by micromanaging it.

Wow, Santana lost. I thought she'd be the chosen one for this tournament.

Well Alexa is physically dominating her opponents, beating them clean, and just generally humiliating them in every way, all despite being tiny.

So I don't think that size matters much if Vince takes a liking to you.

I was surprised but it was nice to see Niven move on to the next round as well.

Spoilers for the completed Round 1:
Yeah she was very impressive. Sarah Logan, Tessa Blanchard and possibly Xia Li also have bright futures in spite of losing.

Have to say I've been well impressed at the standard. Laith, Larae and Sane have been the highlights of the known entities for me that have progressed. I don't know of Martinez either but she was a delightful heel.

Belair, Toni Storm and Rhea Ripley are potential stars.

My underwhelming entity of the round is Shayna, as I'm not a fan of this shoot MMA gimmick crap in professional wrestling. It just feels utterly lazy to me and with that comes a sense of entitlement which is the impression I got from her. Doesn't help that she looks green as well, only looking at home when doing the finish.

At least Brock gave something to the business and has a gimmick that is more than just being an MMA badass.

Evers is another one that underwhelmed me.

A few thoughts on the first round of the Mae Young Classic:

- They are playing up the fact that Candice LaRae is married to Johnny Gargano.
- They are doing the same to Shayna Baszler in relation to Ronda Rousey.
- A lot of the talent are as green as grass, but that's understandable as they want women who they can sign.
- Serena Deeb is the Brian Kendrick of the tournament. Her past issues led to her WWE departure the first time. I sort of figured that they wanted to bring back somebody from their past, didn't think it was going to be her.
- I think Kairi Sane will be booked very well on NXT, but I don't think she'll be booked like Asuka has been. Her gimmick is definitely WWE friendly.

Asuka losing the streak to Alexa would be garbage under ANY circumstance.

You're right, I'm just trying to rationalise it in my head so when it happens I'll have convinced myself it could be good for Asuka's career.

Two of the women I do not recognize......the one in the green in between Sage Beckett and Sonya DeVille and the one standing next to Rener Gracie, the husband of Eve Torres. The rest are fairly easy to recognize.

The bottom row has many of the familiar faces of the NXT Women's Division: Asuka, Zelina Vega, Liv Morgan, Abby Laith (Kimber Lee in the Indies) and Ruby Riot. The one next to Ruby is Lacey Evans. In between Abby and Liv is Zeda, who is as green as grass. And then you also have Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Sonya DeVille, Kairi Sane, Mandy Rose, Rhia Ripley (next to Sane), Ember Moon, Aliyah, Vanessa Bourne, Sage Beckett, Bianca BelAir, Taynara Conti, Sarah Logan and the two unidentified women. Also NXT Coach, Sarah Amato and Eve Torres and her husband Rener.

Some we know: Asuka, Ember, Ruby, Billie, Peyton, Sonya, Zelina. Liv, Aliyah and Mandy.

The rest of the field though are in the Mae Young Classic.

Asuka's imminent departure to the main roster is going to cause an interesting storyline.

Honestly, I do not understand why Mandy or Liv were not in the Mae Young Classic. They have not been seen on NXT TV at all this year. Aliyah had a qualifying match and lost to Bianca BelAir. I understand not putting Ember, Nikki, Ruby, Peyton, Billie, Sonya and Zelina in there. But to have Vanessa Bourne and Zeda instead of Liv or Mandy? Makes no sense.

Arent they still extremely green? Maybe to protect them...i dont know.

But that brings me to NXT...what will they do now without Asuka?
I dont have a problem with Billie Kay or Peyton Royce but they have done absolutly nothing with somebody else except them.
And even with them they always play the same thing, they dont move them forward or change something.

They have done no promo work for anybody else, everything just involves those two.

What is their angle, where are they going with the woman on NXT?
Asuka left a extremely large hole...how do they expect to fit it when they dont do promo work or anything for anybody?
The only thing that Ember Moon is lacking is character, why not working on that?

I hope and assume that they dont do that much because they want to wait for the Mae Yount Tournament before signing the whole bunch of the woman...but im not sure.
What was the plan if Asuka wouldnt have been injured?

On this weeks NXT a wild Adam Cole baybaaay appeared

Roderick Strongs is the Xzibit of backbreakers

Regal chased off Cole, O'Reilly and Fish like a old man chasing kids off his lawn after they just egged his house. I half expected him to shout "Youths!"

Regal's quest for good security is the longest running angle in NXT.

I'm surprised WWE hasn't signed Noelle Foley yet

No I don't think so. May have been in the performance centre briefly. I think she's looking at the more interviewer type thing.

The last thing the WWE needs is 1,000 more backstage interviewers to add to the 1,000 they already have.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Batista’s name has been rumored as a possible headliner for the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in New Orleans. The WON also mentions that the Undertaker would be the headliner if he chooses, and that The Rock will be the headliner whenever he so chooses to go into the Hall of Fame.

Basically, Taker and the Rock will go into the Hall of Fame whenever they want to.

Not sure how I feel about Batista this early, given Infinity War's release date it would feel like a cynical cash grab.

And I dig Batista big time. Seems like a cool dude and I'd be fine if he went in now, but not sure about headliner. That would be a strange speech.
