Young Justice Cartoon - Part 4

I'm really curious who becomes a Justice League member, but i'm guessing it's Icon because Rocket is becoming a Young Justice member. Really loved this episode, tho Nolan North screaming at Nolan North was silly fun.

Yeah this was a great ep. Mostly because of the JL stuff. Really made me want a JL series from this team even more.
-The reaction from Hal and John to Guy Gardner
-Batman and WW's back and forth about Robin
-Everything Captain Marvel said
^^^Great moments

I think it wouldve been cool if they alluded to Wally taking over for Barry. Not saying that I expect it to happen in the show soon, but idk something wouldve been cool

As I said though, great ep. I wonder who got voted in

This was a really enjoyable episode. They almost ruled out Supergirl existing yet but now that it was just telepathy the entire time she can still be around though it still doesnt look like it since they didnt even talk about her in comparison to Superboy.

I really need a JL series based off this version if not only to get more WW/BM banter.

My hypothesis is that Kid Flash becomes one of the members, therefore saving for writing purposes next season, and I'm going to go out on a limb, and suggest this all takes place in the season finale. It shows there progression from the team to the league which is the entire intention of the team.

I really liked this episode for Super Boy, it was great progression for him, and a nice twist that I didn't expect. (I have no idea if this happened in the orig comics.) I also wonder if Supes knows of this and could potentially be weary because of it, given well the scenario.

Looking forward to the next couple episodes, this show actually never ceases to amaze me, with its cameos, small little references, and fairly well thought out story lines. All in all 10/10 for this episode. Definitely one of the better ones.

the cameos in this episode are INCREDIBLE!!!!

i love how Hal and Jon reacted to that suggestion, LOL...

Im' wondering if this will be the introduction of this universe's BiZARRO

I was Rolling on Hal and Jon.:woot:
I was sad to find out that Conner won't get any better with time, (It was infered)

And I Really REALLY want the boyscout (Superman) To prove Luthor wrong.

A new JLA series is looking better and Better. When I can fully enjoy them just talking like this,.. I think a second show in this style starring the JLA would rock.

..... Just saying.

Yeah, this was pretty awesome. Very well done episode. I didn't even know Guardian was Roy's uncle. I actually had to look that up. I'm glad they brought in Lex being Conner's father and the whole "Red Sun" bit. That should be interesting in future episodes if they ever go the "Superboy goes evil" route.

I wonder what the League agreed on. I'm betting they made everybody a League member.

You think Superboy will tell anyone?

To say that I would love that "(Seeing Rocket in Young justice) Is an honest understatement.

I can't see Icon in the JLA based on the comics except in a "Oboy the craps hit the fan call in Garner Super/powergirl and Icon kinda way".

Does anyone know if Hardware or the Blue Beetle are in this Universe?

Now that the episode has aired in the U.S. I can ask my question

Why were Hal Jordan and John Stewart opposed to Guy Gardner being considered for the Justice League? Is Guy the black sheep of earth lanterns?

I loved the "No!" from both of them.

From what I recall, he's kind of a hothead and a screw-up.

You think Superboy will tell anyone?

God no. He certainly didn't tell anybody in the comics (where Robin was the one to figure it out before him). No, I think (if they're using comic ideas and storylines here) Lex will control him to attack the team. If they're basing this on the comics then Superboy is the mole and just Luthor saying "Red Sun" will set him off. I'll be very surprised if Conner comes out and tells them that he's half Luthor. Boy has enough issues as it is. Guess both him and M'Gann have their secrets now.

Guy Gardner is a black sheep everywhere really. But still my second favorite Lantern.

Finally saw the whole episode a couple hrs ago. Was a pretty good episode. The whole thing with jl working on who to induct into group was cool. I was glad we also got some fallout with captain marvel being revealed to be a kid the previous episode. Glad that wasn't brushed under the rug. The sideplot with superbboy and match was sweet. Also enjoyed how he learned of his hman part. Was a total tool lex is. Next week looks to be a good episode too.

So is this version of Conner never going to fly? I know the comic version never had all of Clark's powers but he could still fly. And I know this Conner can fly with the shields Lex gave him but I'm sure there's a twist coming up with those.

Not sure about a twist but I get the feeling Conner will become, not addicted but obsessed kinda, with them. Since Lex is the only place he can get them he will pretty much have to do what Lex wants

You never know. This IS Lex we're dealing with. An addicting agent in his "gift" would be right up his alley.

The March Madness of new "YOUNG JUSTICE" episodes continues with episode 22, "AGENDAS". The focus is once again on Superboy/Conner Kent, a character who arguably has gotten the lion's share of focus when compared to other characters from the show. Discovering and liberating him was the focus of much of the 2 episode pilot, especially "FIREWORKS", which was the second part of said pilot. Both "SCHOOLED" and "DISORDERED" focused mostly on him, and this doesn't include the fact that he often shares subplots with Megan/Miss Martian, who has also gotten a bit of focus in her own focus episodes (such as "WELCOME TO HAPPY HARBOR", "BEREFT", and even "IMAGE" to a degree) and about the series in general. This is great if you're a fan of Superboy; if you're not, then it isn't always something to eagerly anticipate. That said, while "IMAGE" last week was probably a stronger episode, "AGENDAS" does score with a great revisit of CADMUS as well as give us an arguably more interesting secondary plot.

It's Thanksgiving, and most of Young Jus - I mean, "The Team" are busy with their families; Wally merely sticks around Mt. Justice long enough to gobble some berries before the commute. This means that Megan, Conner, and Zatanna (and Wolf) prep for the holiday there; it's especially rough for Zee since this is the first holiday without her father. Superboy barely is able to finish one angst ridden line before he's zapped with a dog-whistle type sonic message ripped right out of 1978's "SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE" which prompts him out to a meeting in the middle of nowhere. Turns out it's been summoned by Lex Luthor (Mark Rolston) to investigate CADMUS, since he suspects there is another clone of Superman there. Since episode 2, CADMUS is being run by Guardian (Crispen Freeman), who reveals himself as the uncle of Red Arrow/Speedy and who claims this is a kinder, gentler CADMUS which is open for Superboy to investigate. However, Dubbilex is still acting as a psychic double-agent seeking the liberation of his fellow "Geomorph" creations, and in no time at all Superboy finds a secret chamber where his "brother", Match, is being held. While Superboy is eager to liberate or at least break through to his "brother", Match is hopelessly insane and a slave to his "kill Superman" conditioning - which makes an S-shield a berserk button for him. Fans who like hearing voice actor Nolan North growl and snarl a lot will be pleased here. While Dubbilex hope to rehabilitate Match in his secret "Geomorph City" built underneath CADMUS' labs, when this proves impossible, Conner is forced to basically do what Luthor expected him to. The entire ordeal was Luthor's manipulation of Conner to locate Match, get a bead on him as well as expose Geomorph City, which was comprised of "missing" Geomorphs that Dubbilex had hoped to smuggle out. The episode also reveals that Conner's half human, and that his human DNA components were supplied by Lex Luthor - revelations in line with DC Comics circa the start of the century. Luthor sees Conner as a son, or at least a figure to manipulate; he offers him "shield" patches which can suppress Conner's human DNA and allow him to gain Superman's full powers for up to an hour per dose, and he also has psychological commands programmed into Conner. Saying "RED SUN" can apparently render Superboy immobile for hours.

However, the B-plot is a Justice League meeting at the Watchtower with the entire roster to debate new members, and even some current members. Maggie Q's Wonder Woman easily steals the episode as the major guest star of this segment. The League covers all sorts of juicy topics; from recruiting Guy Gardner to questioning how young is too young to be a Leaguer (or a superhero in general) to the awkwardness of having Dr. Fate (who is literally possessing Zatara's body) aboard as a member. Part of me likes to imagine the ASK GREG section was mined for this meeting for the debate, although it's worth noting that this episode would have been written before the show debuted. I have to admit my favorite bit, besides the WW/Bats debate over Robin, was Wonder Woman mentioning how the team needs more female members, and both Hawkgirl and Black Canary gleefully agreeing. 3 lady heroes out of 14 isn't exactly an equal ratio, after all. Naturally, the "denial" of Guy by Hal and John was also amusing. Most of "the team" are mentioned for positions within the Justice League, so it stands that while it seems like they're a black ops team, they're sort of a minor league farm system for the JLA proper - the Teen Titans sort of served that role in the comics as well. The League vote on approving someone, but who is unknown. Given that Icon and his sidekick Rocket are mentioned and we know from previews that Rocket at least is going to turn up, it likely will be them.

If this episode showcases anything, it does show what a hypocritical moron Superman is on this show. As the JL meeting notes, Superman once thought Capt. Marvel was a Kryptonian and is seemingly eager to embrace anyone who might possibly be with open arms. Yet he's shunned Superboy and set up him for manipulation by Luthor, which Luthor capitalizes on with relish. Lex notes it is because Conner was made by "the bad guys" and thus Superman will never trust him because of that. As I predicted a few times, Superman's lack of attention or affection for Superboy is running the risk of him becoming what Luthor wanted in spite of everything. I understand the desire to make a flawed Superman, but I've never quite bought this as a flaw which is in character for Superman - that he would shun an adolescent who needed him. It isn't something Weisman & Company created; it's from the comics and they're merely adapting it. Honestly if anyone ends up helping Conner to be anything but a Superman killing monster, it won't be Luthor or Superman or even Batman, it'll be Megan and to a lesser degree the other YJ members. Unfortunately, because we don't get to know Superman's POV or get any idea of why he's justified in shunning Conner, it gets easy to paint Luthor as a moderate in comparison. If Superman didn't accept "gray" in life, he wouldn't be friends with Batman, the DEFINITION of gray heroics. The other thing the episode showcases is how far Conner himself has come since the pilot. While he started just as angry and violent as Match was, his human ability to form connections with others has led him to truly be "free".

I certainly enjoy the production and set designs behind CADMUS and the creations. It is as if the producers and Phil B. got in a room and realized we have seen shady secret labs in cartoons a million times, and set out to make this unique. CADMUS almost seems like another world, which is as it should be. Much as I was pleased by Atlantis' depiction in "DOWNTIME", I continue to be thrilled by CADMUS here. I've seen the Weapon X stuff in X-Men cartoons so many times that I almost want to suggest Conner date X-23 instead, and I am pleased that CADMUS tries so hard to be unique instead of just copying the mundane. I also liked seeing Guardian return - the subplot of a genuine superhero working for "The Light" should be a big deal, and it is good to see him return. As the season comes to a close, it seems "The Light" is making inroads on gaining sizable access to the members of "The team". Queen Bee gained a hostage to blackmail Miss Martian into doing her bidding last well, and in this episode, Luthor showcased that he can manipulate Superboy into doing whatever he wants; either with genuine persuasion or programmed codewords. Considering Ocean Master and Black Manta, could some fix be in against Aqualad soon? Will someone try to put one over on Artemis next week?

I liked Match. Some people are yearning for Bizarro, but I've seen Bizarro already so I didn't mind seeing someone new. While he's unstable, he could be a useful weapon simply by being dropped upon a target like a bomb. He seemed to merely represent what Conner may have become had he not been liberated, but that's fine. I do wonder what Robin was doing for Thanksgiving since Batman was obviously busy.

Overall, "AGENDAS" was a good episode for a character who is one of my least favorite. I'd be less than honest if I didn't admit that the secondary plot probably garnered just as much of my attention, if not slightly more. But it was still a well done episode. Can't wait for "INSECURITY", though.

You never know. This IS Lex we're dealing with. An addicting agent in his "gift" would be right up his alley.

Giving someone a taste of power and then having the person pay/do stuff for them is lex in a nutshell

Connor will probably be asked to do the lights dirty work but ultimately side with his team

Agendas is the sequel to the pilot where Superboy returns to Cadmus and through him, we get to see what it's like since he was last there. A lot of revelations in this A-storyline. The battle between Superboy and Match was a good one and Superboy couldn't still fly as it's a nod to Smallville.

We get to see the entire Justice League for the first time since the Pilot. There were some character moments in there. Maggie Q of Nikita did a great job in providing the voice of WW.

The sad thing here is that Lex Luthor is a better father than Superman is in this series. This has become one of the my favorite episodes. Put this together with the pilot and you'd have a Young Justice animated movie. :super:

Yeah but she never opened her mouth towards him either. And Artemis also seems to open up easier to her female teammates.

It was weird the show didn't do much with that Artemis/Conner subplot. I assumed there wasn't time. I don't read the side comic where edited material is dumped, after all.

No I attribute it to the possibility that Artemis COULD see something in Wally just like she did at that time. Just because she doesn't immediately follow up on it doesn't mean she won't. It's more of a slow burn for her. Her time alone with "Amnesia Wally" is at least in her head, it doesn't mean she'll forget about it. It's what I believe is subtly influencing some of her actions with him. Greg Weisman is great with subtlety like that.

If it weren't for THAT I might see it from your p.o.v.

It did help that "Amnesia Wally" was the first person she happened to be near when the Psimon Blast wore off. I see your point I just would have an easier time feeling it if it wasn't as artificially constructed. At least it's not the Holodeck.

Wally obviously liked her; he didn't care that she said she wanted to kill him because she was hot. I was convinced Artemis liked his attention, but that's not the same.

It didn't start out in the comics as unpleasant either.:cwink:

In the comics, Superman has ice-breath; he doesn't here. Thus, we can't assume everything from the comics will be translated, so it's best to wait and see. For the moment at least Wally's home life seems idyllic, or at least far more pleasant than anyone else's on the show.

What makes you think she cares about the quality of his homelife either way?

People tend to have an easier time relating to people who share similar circumstances.

I don't think hero quality has anything to do with it. He also didn't become a worse hero either.

"DENIAL" would have been totally counter-productive if he got worse.

I interpreted that as him saying he's not gonna say anything about that. Albeit a Grinch reference. Notice how Wally didn't wait for her to respond, and just changed the subject to her bow. That's why I didn't see that as him hitting on her with that line.

I notice you didn't touch my other point with a ten foot--

Uh, next quote!

Who says thats the only type of guy she likes?

It's the one who caught her eye first.

Where did you get that from?

Inferences. Artemis obviously respects and trusts Robin during "HOME FRONT" and another episode where Megan tried to pitch Kaldur at her, and Artemis said he's like a brother. Obviously she values the traits they have to a degree. Wally's the complete opposite of that, though.

I think your reading too much in to that, especially when some of that is her fathers influence.

Clearly her father was a bad influence.

Why do you keep attributing battle success to what she would see in a guy?

I assume Artemis is often irritated and annoyed by Wally because he, among other things, talks a big game and can't back it. He fronts like he's the MVP when he's the weakest link. She doesn't appreciate his sense of humor and she's had to bail him out at times. I think she'd respect him more if he didn't have as much of a false bravado.

A trait of beligerent sexual tension.

Which I have never understood nor cared for in a lot of fiction. By that logic, every domestic dispute on "COPS" is just interrupted kismet. I'm sure there are some instances of it that I have liked, but this version just isn't clicking right for me. Usually I just don't understand it at all.

I listed the other things, it's just that you don't seem to see what creative was trying to get you to see in Bereft. You just feel there was nothing there.
Alot of other fans feel otherwise.

I feel "BEREFT" was an awkward place to start a relationship which was artificially induced from a poorly planned starting point and awkwardly followed up on. Aside for that, awesome episode.

Yeah but the audience doesn't take him as seriously, nor does he take himself as seriously.

Depends on the version of Casey Jones. The original Mirage Comics version in the 80's took himself very seriously and was a maniac - he'd try to kill people for ripping off tape decks. The one from the cartoons was often toned down or played for comedy. The 2k3 version was sort of an idealized jock. And so on. The version from the IDW comic actually had a long page long reason for using hockey equipment.

I'm a couple episodes behind but will come to this soon. So has there been any word as to whether Wonder Girl Donna Troy will make an appearance any time soon?

Well, there's always Barbara Gordon. Or just hacking the Watchtower in order to eavesdrop on the meeting. Y'kno... for intel. And certainly not at all for the lulz.
