Agree, I've never warmed to those guys.

They have a serious blood lust and to be honest, aside from Dust, Anole and Pixie I really don't like any of the other X-kids.

I'm really tired of 'ethnic' characters getting the short end of the stick, its like unless your white, a asian girl, or a Wolverine clone your screwed.

Even with Prodigy getting a version of his powers back he's still just a human with barrowed skills. Gentle is almost a after thought let alone the lame limitation with his powers.

With all that time invested in a lame Logan rehash, they could have used to bring a character like Dust to prominence.

I think he was created simply to die, especially with the interesting background he has being Wakandan how can you as a writer not see the potential in that especially with Storm and Black Panther in the mix?

The pattern I see is if your a male mutant that's not white your screwed while females for the most part are relatively safe, unless theirs a Wolverine clone roaming around.

I think they were trying to establish a long-running(not permanent) villain for the kids. But it looks like X-Force will be the ones to go after it

Rogue doesn't interest me anymore, until they depower her extra abilities and stick with her base mutation and freaking just either kill Gambit or let them be a item already. That relationship drama is old hat to me, that's why I liked that Cyclops has moved on with Emma.

As far as Gentle goes yeah he's doomed, and that's sad. I remember when they had Shola Inkosi in Excalibur I thought he was a really good character and had a unique power set, but yet again they depower a descent guy and forget about him and what is with this young asian girl fetish these X-writers have?

Its a blatant McGuffin, it has no purpose other than what you said.

That's a sure sign of crappy writing, no character new or old should be a plot device.

If they wanted it to be a longrunning villain, then it needed to be featured more prominently and actually look like a real threat to them. Just one arc and then popping up in the background once in awhile doesn't count. Real good villains are ones that are constant threats to their characters and can give the heroes runs for their money in both the physical and mental areas. Pred X is nothing more than a mindless eating machine which does not make it a good villain, just a cliche.
