I have 3 pet mountain lions. so yes. I also sold a bag of lucky charms to some idiot who believed it was cocaine....

not pointing any fingers, Roose Bolton.

I'm not always sure if something happened in pop culture, or if you guys are just rambling. The next generation fan in me had to Google Patrick Stewart just in case.

I'm not mixed as much as confused. More Picard is great, no problems there. However, didn't the new movies reboot the ST universe? I mean, I love more 90's Star Trek. It's just...does Picard even exist anymore? Altering timelines is messy.

The new movies created a seperate timeline, but the old one is still around.

Nothing happens in the Abramsverse to somehow wipe Picard from existence, or even directly affect him.

What's your take on AFTER MASH Picard?

I need to see more information, just to see how much of it is a genuine sequel to TNG and how much of it is something new. But I won't lie, it's one of my favourite actors playing one of my favourite characters again...there's a big part of me that's excited.

I honestly don't know how to feel... Which is strange. You know how much of a NEXT GEN guy I am. Like you getting more of Sir Patrick as Picard is a gift right now. On the other hand, I'm all... What do you do with Capt. Picard? Maybe more importantly, what do you do with Capt. Picard that doesn't set off half the fanbase because it's not how they envisioned his twilight years going?

Is it TLJ all over again, only for Trek?

And it's not like I don't have my own feelings on how that "should" go, ya'know?

If it were you how would you handle it? Where would you take the character?

I'm curious if any of the other Next Gen crew is returning with him.

I think it's a given that we'll see some in varying capacities. For myself... I really hope they can talk Gates McFadden to play Crusher and give Picard and her a proper romantic entanglement.

I honestly never had much of a vision for where Picard would go after the films and part of that was because of how things were left with Nemesis. For me it's kind of like trying to figure out where Brosnan's Bond would go after Die Another Day.

But in reading Stewart's comments, about how he thinks the world could use Picard these days, I'd probably go right into that. There's that old quote that I think is appropriate when it comes to Picard...basically I think he should be approaching the end of his life and focused on leaving the world in a better state than when he found it. I think that's the key difference between Wars and Trek right now. In Star Wars they're approaching it from the point of view of the newer generation being the protagonists with the baton being handed to them by the old heroes. Han and Luke weren't the leads, they were ultimately furthering Rey's arc. With Trek I think it should probably still be Picard's journey, just further down the road when he needs to prepare the world for when his ilk are gone.

That's interesting. See I think somewhat the opposite. Unlike Kirk I think Picard would probably feel that his time has past at at certain point and not hang onto the chair at any cost. When we see a possibly future in ALL GOOD THINGS Picard had apparently moved on to serving in other ways and eventually settled down into the traditional lifestyle of his family, the one ironically that he had rejected as a youth. Now, that's of course but one possible outcome and we can't discount what Q might have done to shape that. Still, I am not sure Picard would still be a front line officer out commanding the Enterprise D or some such. I always think of Picard as a bit of an academic. An academic with real field experience but a thinker, a philosophical man. To that end I don't see him contributing to the Federation as someone in the command structure, like say going Kirk's route and being head of Operations. I think Picard would be the head of the Star Fleet Academy. His experiences there are things the character ALWAYS talks about. It must have some place in his heart. If it were me, that's what I would do with him. A series about Picard as the head of or instructor at the Academy shaping the, no pun, next generation of officers with his wisdom and morality. So a quite literal handing of the torch if you will.

Awesome, thank you guys. Even though I did enjoy the Abram movies, I grew up on TNG. So the thought of that universe being altered, and unable to be expanded upon was a bummer.

TNG, and Star Gate SG1 still stand as my favorite space Sci-fi series. I'd probably put the first two seasons of Sliders, some of the other Star Trek series, and Star Wars behind them. So more TNG is welcome.

Caught this in the comments from another place online talking about the new Picard show... Imagine Picard getting caught up in a story that includes Section 31?

What do you do with Capt. Picard?

You start out with him sipping some Earl Grey tea, after working up a sweat tilling a field near his vineyard. Then his wife Beverly shows up saying Riker, and Troy are stopping by for his birthday. Then just as he's asking Riker about his feelings on being a captain, Q falls out of the sky naked! Que credits.

And then... ORGY.

I want to post one of the TNG YouTube edits in response, but it has a partially nude Q. I'm never sure what's acceptable anymore, lol. I mean it was shown on TV, but my first/only strike came from quoting someone else's post of a daily show skit that had one cussword in it.

So here's an unrelated TNG edit!

So what's up with the avatars on this place? I have never chosen to have an avatar but just now I noticed I suddenly had one, and then I noticed another poster had the very same one.
Have I been hacked or is this some kind of standard avatar being thrown onto us mere peasants who hasn't picked one yet?
