Grounded drama. Though her relationship with the people of this town is a bit wild and beyond complicated, lol.

Thanks for the info. I keep seeing it advertised everywhere but haven't gotten around to it.

Honestly... Serial killer stuff is a bit hard for me to watch. The Devil, demons, monsters... I was a fraidy cat as a child but now I don't find any of that stuff affects me outside of the occasional jump scare. But serial killer stuff truly gives me the willies. Because in my mind, demons or characters like Freddy or Michael Myers don't exist. But the truly sick and depraved are real and have done horrible things to people.

To be honest, I don't think this really qualifies as a "serial killer" thing. Two girls have been killed at different times, but I think there's more to the story than just "a killer targeting girls." It's more about the shadiness of the people in this town than anything.

Though I do admit I AM a sucker for serial killer stuff. Mindhunter was my favorite show of 2017 after all, lol. Sharp Objects is absolutely nothing like that, however.

What did you think of Tragedy Girls? The idea is interesting, but I did not give the movie the time to sit through it.

I've never heard of Tragedy Girls, but I just looked it up and I agree it at least sounds like it could be interesting.

Mood?

We have 'inherited' a stray / homeless (?) cat. It used to just visit but for last few weeks its got more 'at ease' with us and has 'adopted' us.

Mindhunter was seriously good. I can't wait for the next season. :D

I enjoyed it. It was fun, the deaths were suitably over the top, and the two leads gave great performances. Its unfortunate they've both been horribly underserved by their respective X-Men franchises.

The Lounge is dead... LONG LIVE THE LOUNGE!

Just realized A Quiet Place is out on DVD, anyone know if it turned out ok? I'll probably get it anyway, as I wanted to see it after the trailer. I just forgot about it.

Very well done in my opinion. It is for sure more of an "idea" sci fi/horror film that sets up it's premise and it builds all it's suspense and drama from the idea. Either you buy into it or you don't, and yeah... I can think of some stuff that doesn't quite add up when it's all said and done and things are wrapped up in a bow as a narrative but that's okay. As a stand alone film it get's lots out of it's premise and Krasinksi did a really good job as a director. It shows you can get a lot out of a concept without having to blow it up to gigantic proportions. Like I stated, there might be too much, I don't know... Coincidences? I don't know how to put it right now, but there are some plot... contrivances? But it's a story after all. There's a few "Chekov's guns" and that's fine. It ran on all cylinders for me and was touching, scary and tense. My only thing is that it operates so well as a stand alone film that I hope it's success doesn't lead to the usual over commodification with sequels or prequels. I don't need to see what happens before or afters. It's a wonderfully solid film that accomplishes what it sets out to do and does it within some interesting parameters that the story places on the way it's narrative can be told.

Turned out better than ok, imo.

I hear it might come out by the end of the year.

Thank you Krypton, and flickchick. I'll be picking it up today. A horror movie where the monsters hunt by sound, and the characters have to stay quiet sounded good. I remember first seeing the trailer on a YouTube compilation for SciFi movies coming out, and wanting to see it. It just slipped my mind it was already out.

A Quiet Place is among my favorite films of the year so far.

i bought it from happywatching.com but i haven't watched it yet

The latest episode of my podcast where we talk the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie in a new series we’re starting called ‘Is it really that bad?’:

Will listen in for that but I can answer the MOTU question and say no it's not, but interestingly and don't know if it's included in your podcast mate, will listen later, but the reason Superman : QFP looks so poor is that the money Cannon got for MOTU in advance for both films was spent all on He-man and so it effectively 'nicked' the budget off Superman, in advance, one of the reasons why the QFP budget was slashed by two thirds.
