My top 5 BEST would be.
1.Exile-Gotta love when Clark is on red k. Also I think this ep had the best opening to a season.

2.Run-Loved this ep. And it started the thread for future justice league members. Also The Flash racing Clark at the end and doing the running backwards/wave was classic.

3.Pilot-This ep for me was a great start to a great show.

4.Crusade-Getting to see Clark take flight was amazing.

5.Transference-This ep was funny in parts but great to see both Tom and John protraying each others characters.

My top 5 WORST eps.

1.Gone-The dude Trent was a plain rip off of T-100. Even had the blade hand and all.

2.Thrist-Buffy Sanders...Why oh why...

3.Mercy-rip-off of Saw...sad.

4.Nocturne-Byron annoyed me.

5.Forsaken-I'll miss Sam Jones.

im sure they're all fotws

Best Shows 1-5

1.) Rossetta: First of Chris Reeves make a guest apperance. Then we have the fact that Clark finds out who he is and where he came from and that he has a reaction two that. I've never really read the comics but it always struck me as odd that he never seemed upset that his world was destroyed.

2.) Memoria: This is a strange show as Lana is only in it for about two minutes and Chole, Pete and Johnathon don't appear at all, although Johnathon proably would have if he weren't directing the next one. The story of Juilian is really emotional and its tragic to see how good a father Lionel was. The thing about Lara was heartbreaking too, with the way Clark felt about Jor el it was nice to see him longing for Krypton a bit

3.) Mercy: Never seen Saw but this was a cool show. It also showed the growth of Lionel from evil incarnate to a guy who has genuinely changed for the better.

4.) Pilot: The show starts with a bang with the Meteor Shower. Then we see a young Clark Kent for the first time. What's great about this show is that it instantly sets up all the relationships, from Lionel's look at a bald Lex, too Clark being in the middle of Pete and Chole and Johnathon and Lex. Whitney is not protrayed as a mindless jock which would be so easy to do. Also we finally see Clark being told who he is, which had never been covered in the medium before. (BTW I have only recently, last Friday, purchased the Season 1 DVD set was is why in another thread I had Zero as my first choice out of Season 1.)

5.)Ryan: Heartbreaking. The guy who played Ryan was a real find he played Ryan just pathetic enough to feel for a guy we barely known. It's also the first time that we explore in depth that Clark can't save everybody. Plus we find out how good Lex was at this point, he manages to win over a guy who can feel the darkness in him.

Worst Shows 1-5

1.) Redux: Other than having a poor FOTW this show makes little sense. First off how does she do it, I don't remember it being explained only that she was doing it for about a hundred years, so it wasn't meteor induced. Then we have the school pricipal and his relationship with Lex which was interesting but dropped without Lex learning anything. Then we have Clarks grandfather which again was dropped, he hates Johnathon and vice versa but later in the season he goes and says with him without this being an issue. Then Clark says that he said that he wanted to get involved after his adoption but he, the grandfather, never said that. Then at the end of show Lana shows up dressed in a formal dress, not that I'm complaining, but why. I'm not American but I doubt Spirit Week requires formal dress. Pluys Henry Small was introduced, who cares if Lana has a long lost father, it just takes away from her loseing her parents.

2.) Relic: I think a lot of people loved this epsiode but it just seemed as an excuse for hot Clana action. Not only that but in the flashbacks Jor el appears as a decent guy but in later shows Clark ignores this and continues to hate him.

3.) Spell: So Lana's a witch now. I've already made my feelings clear about who much or how little Lana should be involved in Clarks journey to being Superman, for all means let het shape him as a man but keep her away from his Kryptiona heritage.

4.) Thirst: So Lana's a vampire now. I highly doubt that Chole could get a job and the daily Planet with this story. there's so little sunstance to this show that there's nothing left to write.

5.) Hug: First time they showed how annoying Lana would become. Clark save's her life, Whitney's life and yet for the first time in their relationship that he could be potentially wrong she just gets all pissy, which she continues to do to this very day. That above all else is why I hate Lana Lang

Top 5:

  1. Pilot: The perfect setup for the series and it shows how good Tom was from the get go. It was exciting and showed all the people in the show and how they're connected all because of the meteor shower. It was the object of a bidding war for a reason. Nearly perfect TV.
  2. Memoria: Brilliant episode. Lionel and Lex's relationship is much more complicated than anyone really thought. What amazing character arcs for Lionel and Lex both. Love the lighting, writing and acting. Top notch episode.
  3. Exile/Phoenix: Probably the best season opening ever. Excellent cliff-hanger at the end of Exile... Love the Red-k Clark too. Love the Edge/Clark conflicts in Pheonix...
  4. Hidden: Clark getting shot was heart breaking and that leap was amazing.
  5. Mercy: Brilliant. Love the Lionel/Martha dynamic and how it was revealed how Lionel is fundementally worse a parent than Martha is even though he's trying to be better... Makes his growing affection for Clark make more sense.

Bottom 5:

  1. Craving: Fat sucking krypto-freak... nuff said.
  2. Lucy: Yikes. The leap barely makes it watchable, its so bad. Peter Wingfield is a great actor and he was reduced to being a bit player... He was so poorly utilized in that episode. Sad.
  3. Ageless: An episode so awful that the director/writer publicly makes fun of it.
  4. Delete: Will writers ever research common technology so they don't look like idiots? I don't think so if this episode is any evidence... IP addresses don't work like Adam said they did and no one with half a brain unplugs a hard drive when it's powered if they care about the data on it. I might have let those things slide if the story was better, but it totally sucked...
  5. Tomb: I can't even tell you how many ways this episode sucked. Allison had one episode that was Chloe centric last season and it was such a waste...

you mean...there are bad episodes?
when did this happen?! :P

This is a really tough question, and I'm sure my answers could change tomorrow..but:

What don't you understand?
They're just personal choices.

I think there are a few "bad" episodes, but even the bad ones all have things in them *coughClarkcough* that still make them worth watching over most of the usual TV dreck.

I see just about everyone has Memoria in their list. Whilst I thought that was a good episode, it definitely isnt one of my favourites. Except for the very end scene between Clark and Martha and Clark remembering his parents putting him in the ship.

I actually found it a little boring and also that the Luthor family could actually be that dysfunctional was a little disturbing. :(

As for my top 5 of each category.

Favourites, one from each season

Pilot
Rosetta
Exile
Blank
Hidden

Worsest

Kinetic
Redux
Velocity
Facade
Aqua

I only pegged them in that order because of my desire to watch them over and over or to skip them on the disc. However, I could watch Aqua a hundred times, over some of the other stuff that's on TV.

Relic could have been way better if they didn't use Clark and Lana as people in the flashbacks. So is Jor-el supposed to look like an older version of Clark?

I also loved the ep Leech. Auqa was another I liked that I didn't meantion.

I decided to leave all of the season premieres and finales off the favorite episode list, because I like or love all of them. My favorite premiere and finale are listed as honorable mentions.

Favorite (in no particular order)

Relic - I am a sucker for people solving old cases, time travel, (well-executed) flashbacks, invulnerable aliens, and tragic love. This episode basically had all of the elements that I truly enjoy in television and I enjoyed seeing a more human side of Jor-El.
Hidden - Lana's bed-side speech. Lionel's speech to Clark as Jor-El in the fortress of solitude. Clark super-jumping onto the back of a nuclear missle. Closing scene between Clark and Lana, him in his burnt-up clothes, holding her at least two feet off the ground. I love all of these things so damn much.
Reckoning - Here we go with the time-travel / tragic love thing again! Clark's proposal to Lana in the Fortress of Solitude easily ranks as one of SV's most spectacular scenes to date. And the JK's funeral at the end is the best funeral scene that I have ever seen in television, and maybe even movies.
Mercy - Lionel was great in this episode. I enjoy his character even more than Clark, so its no wonder why this one became an instant favorite. The set-up of Lionel and Martha in the elevator was great--having Clark and Lex watch it on a close-circuit tv feed was brilliant.
Insurgence - An earlier Lionel / Martha get kidnapped episode, which had been by number one favorite SV episode until Season 5. Now it's alot harder to chose a number one. This episode had the first overhead Daily Planet shot, and the first super-jump. And boy, what a superjump!
Lineage - Another flash-back episode that harkens back to the pilot. I love how it follows the "what happened afterward"--the how and why JK hates Lionel Luther. Great reveal at the end.

Honorable mention:
Crusade (flying! Lois!)
Commencement (meteors! More Lois!)

Least Favorite

Leech - I hate power transfer episodes with a smoldering passion. I watched it once and will probably never watch it again.
Drone - Bee Queen? I'm very tolerant of FOTWs (because I want to see Clark punch the crap out of people occassionally), but this one was too lame for even me.
Rush - This episode bores me to tears. Kal can be fun, but this episode seemed like one big Chloe-fan-service ep with *****y Lana thrown in for fun. I'm a sucker for the ep's teaser, because it uses "Never Gonna Come Back Down"--one of my favorite songs by BT.
Magnetic - Ick. Just...ick.
Spirit - Prom. Meh.

Top Five

1) Rosetta - What can I say, two Supermen in one show. Plus it's full of mythos: First time Clark learns learns about Krypton, and his name Kal-El. Plus we got to hear the John Williams theme throughout the episode.

2) Hourglass - First time we get to see the true destiny of Lex, with the presidency and blood rain. Put the hoplessness of Lex's plight to the forefront.

3) Run - First appearance of a future ally of Clark's, plus it gave me a really funny JLA reference.

4) Stray/Ryan - Yes, I'm putting the two together. These episodes really put into perspective Clark's role as a mentor/father figure to those that look up to him. Plus they are two of the episodes that can still make me cry.:O

5) Mercy - This was one of the best episodes from S5. I know many didn't like it because it used the plot from Saw, but you know what, it took all of the conveluted Lionel mess from the past season and had it all make sense. It was the best character study on Lionel, and we learned more about his inner workings in that episode than all of his other appearances in the show. And you know what else, I didn't see Saw, and I never will, so the plot being re-used didn't bother me.:)

Least favorite:

1) Spell (Sorry Gals) - I just didn't dig the witch story, and this is the episode that started that whole mess for me.:O

2) Drone - The bee girl was just stupid, but the episode had promise, but...a bee girl?!?

3) Nocturne - His parents should have kept him in the basement, he was just a silly villain.

4) Forever - This episode irked me because is was a rehash of the plot from Redux, and that wasn't that great of an episode itself. I don't like already used ideas.

5) Ageless - An exploding Baby....'Nuff said.

Here you go...my favorites and least favorites.

Arrrgh! I forgot about Transference. I love that ep. I'm squeezing that in at 4.5. :D

Oh... I forgot about Transference too.

Brilliant acting job on both Tom's and John Glover's parts... Oooh... Splinter is pretty damn good for wonderful Tommy acting too...

I may have to reassess my list.

:triplet strokes her chin thoughtfully:

It would help it I knew names of episodes.....:(

I know Rosetta pretty much takes it though for me.

Woah, I just realized I've posted waaaay too much in the last 2 years. That number was never noticable until tonight.
