See? Therein lies the problem...

Between myself, Jake, fibber, Lackey & yoda alone, we've always posted like this, collectively for 32 years (7.5, 5.5, 6, 6.5 & 6.5 years respectively, give or take a few months), and Jake admits that it's hard to tone down what he's been accustomed to for so long... it's hard for all of us... yet I get from the tone of his post that he'll make efforts, but old habits may surface from time to time, but at least he'll make efforts.

Yet, despite that, you come in here and basically say "I don't care if you're going to try but still be naughty from time to time because I'll temp-ban you every time you do it".

You guys talk about give and take crap, which at least we're willing to try and tone it down, which is all part of the give & take relationship, and threats to temp-ban whenever we slip up is certainly not demonstrating any give & take on the mods end...

And you wonder why we are apprehensive to anything you say and never take your word for what's worth... which in this case is nothing more than a bucket of poo...

Moi? Not displaying any give-and-take? How many of you here have been infracted by me, if I may ask? I tend to stand clear of you guys and close one eye coz I kinda understand where you're coming from when asking for some slack, though, and you have to admit this, some of you have gone overboard.

But when you preach of consistency, when you preach of equal punishments between posters, that begs the question on why can't I be equally and consistently harsh with you guys? Or do you mean I have to be equally lenient to all but not so equally harsh?

I only responded to you because of the somewhat snarky remarks you made to Jake... you came off as sounding like "behave all the time or I'll temp-ban your ass everytime you don't". That might not have been your intent, and maybe you were trying to come off as "funny" (which you failed miserably, by the way, if you don't mind some contructive critique on "how to be funny"), which is why I responded to you in my typical polite manner.

As I mentioned earlier, with our collective 32 Hype years, we have seen a LOT of stuff go down here at the Hype, and when I speak of consistency (and I think I can speak for all of us here), is that over the years, we have received leniency from some mods, yet some of us have been given a lot of grief and difficulties from other mods, even though our behavior has remained the same. Hence, the lack of consistency. And truth be told, at certain times these bannings/grievances/whatnots have come more from sour grapes from certain mods as opposed to legitimate reasons for temp/bannings. Does that mean we have never been guilty of temp-bans? Of course not! There have been numerous times when one of us has gone competely over the precipice and well deserving of our punishment. But there have been more times when we have suffered grief from trigger-finger happy mods that want to gun down one of the old school trouble makers and make a name for themselves. I'm not pointing the finger at you personally nor of any of the newer schooled mods, it's just that we want to be able to post on the razor's edge with the same leniency as we've always had by most of the regular level-headed mods that have come to recognize that we're just a bunch of older goofball guys that like to make man-love jokes and talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If it gets out of hand, I agree that punishment may be required. But I think we've all agreed to try and tone it down, and all we'd like in return is the ability to be funny/goofy in our consistent lovable ways (the kind that only our mothers could love) without somebody on your end getting all bent about it.

I really can't remember whether I was trying to come off as funny or not, but what the hey.

I don't presume to speak for the others, but I shall endeavour to be less trigger-happy. At most, I'd probably issue a warning to ask you guys to tone it down. I am, after all, just trying to do my job, so lets cut each other some slack. But, if you're being reported, then I shall take into account the complainant's sensitivity and the issues presented, or you will not be the only ones screaming that the mods aren't being fair if I appear to let you get away with murder.

It's an unenviable position, I tell ya.
