Justice League Zack Snyder Directing Justice League - Part 8

And so we're finally getting the movie and they're talking that if it is well received there might be sequels. Interesting.

I would be astonished if they not only release the movie, but bring him back to actually direct more movies. This has always seemed like a one off scenario in my head. He lets people finally see his movie so we can all finally move forward. Nothing more than that.

There’s no way he’ll get to direct any new scenes imo. I think only thing he’ll get is a small budget to maybe tidy up/fix some fx etc.

If it brings in a lot of views/subs why, not? Taking a quick glance at their content It's easy to imagine the Snydercut easily becoming the most sought after HBO Max movie/show

I mean if Snyder’s JL is a big win, I got no doubt WB would want him to make more stuff like it. Or maybe give him some Elseworlds stuff to do his own thing with. Though the latter hinges a bit on Army of the Dead being a hit as well.

Just me spitballing here of course. I got no real clue what’s happening.

Only way this would end to more Zack Snyder directed DC Films in this continuity is if WB made monster money off this thing and that ain’t gonna happen.

Exclusively for the streaming service? That'd be very unlikely. His DC movies were all hugely expensive; the appeal of releasing Justice League would be that they'd only have to spend additional money on however much is needed to complete his effects and additional photography. We're still not at the point where companies are gonna be making 250 million dollar blockbusters to go straight to streaming. There's a reason both WB and Disney are doing everything possible to avoid actually having to put big movies like Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Widow on their respective streaming services even with all the delays.

If, and I mean IF somehow things went well enough that they decided to let him complete his 5-movie arc, there'd be no way the additional movies would streaming releases. Unless he's willing to work with a drastically smaller budget, that is,

HBO Max needs some more DC content and if there's a version of JL available then why not show it ?

I doubt any other HBO Max shows that were announced have actually started shooting, right now, all they have is season 2 of Doom Patrol.

Finishing CGI effects for few scenes in JL wouldn't be that costly.

ZS made 300 on a small budget ($65 mil), so he can make a few movies for HBO max on a small budget.

I don't know what we are discussing here, a cut already exists, it just needs some polishing, finish some CGI stuff, and release it.

Even if by some miracle HBO sanctioned more, theyre not getting Ben Affleck back. Affleck is done done done with superheroes after all this.

I honestly don’t think Henry is interested in revisiting that Superman again either. He clearly wants to move on from that version of the character.

I think the real question is, what state is it in? Is it a case of they have enough finished footage, FX etc to release a full movie or is there stuff that hasn’t been filmed or completed that’s important to a finished cut for it to make narrative sense. I’m telling you if there’s anything extra that needs filming it ain’t happening. If it’s simply a case of polishing some Fx then I think there’s a real possibility it might.

I also really really hope Zack is not being overzealous about what he can get from Warner Bros. If theyre willing to give him a few bucks to polish the cgi and stuff he should take the deal and not stick his foot in the mud and demand more money and reshoots.

Yup totally agreed, if he is been overzealous then he risks people never seeing his film.

Go big or go home. **** it.

He’s not in a position to make those sorts of demands.

Sounds like it's the same insider who gave them the Supergirl/Superman info. On the surface the screening sounds interesting but the rest of it is the same logical conjecture we've had before, including releasing it in some form on HBO MAX.

There's no way a friggin Justice League sequel would be made for that amount of money, especially if all the stuff about time-travel and Dakseid and post-apocalyptic Earth ends up being used. $65 million is only slightly higher than what it cost to make the first Deadpool.

Hell, if you're bringing back the entire original cast (Affleck included), that's probably gonna eat into a decent chunk of your budget.

I'm not even disputing the possibility of JL sequels (though I do see it as a long shot); I'm saying there's very, very little chance they would be released as HBO Max exclusives if they did by some chance get made. If releasing huge, expensive superhero blockbusters straight to streaming were economically feasible, WB would've selected WW1984 as their big top tier HBO Max launch product.

Sounds like a very similar report, some fact followed by speculation

It’s his career. If he feels the movie ain’t worth it if it can’t reflect his vision, then screw it. We’d just be back in the same spot we’ve been in since BvS anyway.

And then he would be keeping the thing his fans want the most. Hero becomes the villain eh? Like I said he isn’t in a position to demand anything. I don’t care if it gets released either way myself so if he decided to take his bat & ball home cause WB won’t give him more money in top of what he’s already overspent I’d lose all respect for him.

Even the screening reaction has to be taken with a little bit of caution. Apparently those privy to it included people who worked on the film. So when the JL stunt coordinator says her colleagues called the film "absolutely golden" we don't know if non-partial observers had the same reaction.

If I had to bet one way or another, I think the Snydercut will appear on HBO MAX in some cost effective way. I can't seen any significant additional financial investment.

But after all this it’d be cruel not to give his fans something. Their campaigning is the reason why this is even a possibility to begin with.

What did he overspend on?

Also his fans want to see his vision. If WB won’t have it, then what does get released wouldn’t be what the fans have been campaigning for anyway. It’d just be another compromised film.

It his ass that’s on the line. If he’s uncomfortable putting another flick out there that ain't truly his, then fine. That’s his bag.

The budgets for all three of films were way too high.

Ah but it could be as close to the finished version as they’ll ever get. Justice League was already compromised from what he originally intended anyway as he had to make script changes during production.

Snyder only has everything to gain from its release, from WB POV they don’t ever need to release it as they’ve moved in. He literally has no bargaining power here.

Apparently the screening was on February 6th. Chris Wong just dropped a video and pointed something out thats...admittedly curious. Zack has this screening in early February then launches the poster contest and then gives the winner that movie prop hinting additional photography.....i think that would seem to hint that the screening went quite well. Still doesnt confirm add photography but Zack was clearly feeling good about whatever the feedback from that screening was.
