I'm not sold on Pattinson yet. Have to wait to see how it's played but so far not too thrilled about how he looks in the suit. Just me.

I thought Armie Hammer would have been a good choice especially after Man from Uncle.

Funnily enough I’m ok with Pattinson but I just don’t like what I’m seeing, I hate the suit, it sounds like it’s another grounded take and I’m just like after Batfleck I didn’t feel we could go back to body armour.

3 movies that he could easily make 4 hours each, truncated to a little over 1/3? I mean if it's under his supervision, I'm sure he'd be happy but feel like his fans would be getting a condensed version.

Well you have to remember that Zack himself said the JL that’s coming out next year is a new thing, so it’s possible he’s changed the way the story plays out.

I realize I’m jumping the gun by discussing a sequel.. but what happens if this movie is a huge success?

That leaves the DCEU in such a weird position. Ideally they would let Snyder finish out his saga with one more film or a miniseries. But the question is... which Batman would they use? Could they convince Affleck to come back, or do they get someone like Jon Hamm? Then you’ve got wildcards like Keaton and Pattinson involved. The Flash movie is going to change everything, and signs are pointing to Keaton becoming the DCEU Batman.

My guess based on latest/best info.

HBOMax deal is to bring us ZSJL. What does that mean? That is the question. Whether it ...
means Zack was given full control and cart- blanch to complete his JL story arc OR complete the JL script he started.

HBOMax exec. said he wished it was only $30mil. so it could be substantially more. Also, not getting it for 9 months or so.

Zack had said it was "almost" finished. He had a cut... multiple cuts. When he left they were at "picture lock" if I remember correctly and the scoring and dubbing was being done. There were some final VFX shots to complete but Zack said more or less "done" . That is his intended TC of JL.

We know this was a compromise from the big dark "crazy" script they originally had planned.
We know it ended with the JL killing SW and seeing DS across the BoomTube.

What we don't yet know is if Zack is mearly going to finish the JL as he intended, IE the 214 film with finished VFX OR if he has figured a way to complete the arc with DS as the big bad.

If it was only going to be Zack completing the TC of the film, IE the cut HE would have released if he finished it and not WB and Wheedone, I'm not sure it would cost $30mil or take 9 months.

My guess is that he has figured a way to get some extra scenes in there to "satisfy" the arc of the project. Bigger/better than the TC would have been, but maybe not the complete arc with DS and Apokolips.

Maybe... and I hope, the deal is that IF ZSJL does well enough, they will go for "season 2 " and finish the DS/Apokolips invasion and complete the arc and "this" version of JL.

As for Affleck, If I remember correctly, the plan was for Bruce to die in this arc at some point so maybe the series kills him off, save the world and in some way he is returned ala Steve Rogers old man in endgame and Batman beyond goes on with a different "older" actor playing Bruce, OR he remains dead.. as a monument to justice...

Just some thoughts...

Batfleck took the brunt of the hatred for the film (from the word go...before a frame was shot) so I would put it at 99.9999999999999% that outside of the little work he is doing for the SC he wont be a part of anything else. It just didnt land...and honestly the easiest way to break from the previous bad press and feelings from fans is to eliminate the most visible distraction.

I think the odds are in favor of something spinning out of the SC but I dont think it will be another JL...unless it is years down the road. They have two successful franchises represented already and I would think they will be focusing on adding to that. Whether that means movies or series I dont know but as I have said before I think HBO Max is going to be the spot for experimental stuff.

Hey wait...I just thought of something. Ava Duvernay still wants to make her New Gods film I believe...and she has made mini series for HBO in the past...what if she made like a 4-6 part New Gods series on HBO Max? That could be a heckuva spinoff to ZSJL and could lead to whatever comes next. Hey...a boy can dream!

yea, i'm sorta meh on that pattinson batsuit so far.
it's wait and see for me once we see it on screen.
but i'm excited for reeve's movie cuz pattinson's a damn fine actor with a lot of range.
so i'm interested in what they're gonna pull off for their batman.

but i doubt the bvs batsuit will ever be topped.
snyder + wilkinson knows how to make those suits as comic accurate as possible while looking cool.

i wonder if zack always had in mind to extend JL like this -- as @DS80 has mentioned i believe, zack's always been playing the long game.
maybe he knew WB planned to remove him from finishing up JL back in 2016~2017, but he filmed enough to release it later on.
and he knew how to play his cards right so he can take another stab at putting some additions to it.
like ridley scott for blade runner.
or even george lucas for the star wars OT

Yeah and it’s not a deal breaker for me, if film still kicks arse I’ll be happy even if I don’t like the suit.

No probably not, that suit was perfection.

Maybe so

I liked Wade's Cyborg in a recent episode. I haven't always liked his performance and the writing for the character has him pretty uptight, but the
trauma group episode was good and seeing him struggle to get physically intimate with a woman given his cyborg body helped to humanize him, imo.

Maybe Zack will just appear as Mxyzptlk and the entire Snyderverse will end up a result of his warping reality. He says his name backward and then things go back to "normal" until he pops up again to mess with the heroes. :o

No kidding Zack would actually make a fun Mxyzptlk.

I think the idea of Batfleck not landing is pretty revisionist. Even folks who had issues with the character were still excited to see him under Ben's writing/direction.

Amongst us yes. Amongst everyone else he was not. How many memes were there that specifically dealt with Batfleck?

We liked it because it was comic accurate...but we are also a very small segment of the people who saw the film.

Yeah, on the one hand, I love what we've been hearing about Reeves' character-driven approach. The noirish elements, the emotionality, the deeper emphasis on detecting--all of this sounds just beautiful. On the other hand, I'm not sure what to make of Pattinson and the rest of the cast just yet. They're all good actors, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're right for their respective roles. I need to see them in action first. What else? I love the custom vehicles, namely the car and the bikes. The suit isn't much to my liking, however. The cowl in particular is horrendous. I wish I felt differently and hope to come around to it some more, but we'll see.

Classy move on Fisher's part.

I just can't behind the look Doom Patrol's Cyborg, it almost looks like a Halloween costume, especially the way the metal portion on his head fits.. just looks, off. Love the actor in the role though, and the show overall is so good.

It's so weird how things basically flipped and did a 180 from 2013 when Ben was cast to 2020. When Affleck was cast, man, the dude took an absolute beating. Not sure who had it worse him or Gal. Some nauseated reactions. From the word go, Affleck had an uphill battle and lets be real, certain aspects of the community and certainly critics and bloggers had their fangs out for BvS and it started with Affleck's casting. Plus, Affleck was not in a good place mentality after BvS so I always said, timing is everything and it just wasn't it then.

2020 is a different story. The Snyder Cut movement turned Zacks film into must-see box office. Rallies were formed and The Snyder Cut took on a massive phenomenon of its own. Good vibes are swirling. People want to see Henry back. Affleck's performance in BvS created a huge fanbase on his take. Fans want him back and Ben is seemingly in a good place in his life. Gal is a household name in and of herself. So if there's a one in a billion chance Ben DOES decide to come back, it's not like last time. He would be welcomed with open arms in a highly anticipated Zack Snyder film. The landscape has been uprooted and turned upside its head.
