Btw, would anyone else be interested in seeing Grail (daughter of Darkseid and an Amazon) on screen in the future? I think that character could have some real potential

100%. She should become a full time WW villain and integrated into the New Gods loir.

I wasnt really a fan of either Steppenwolf design...always wanted him to take more after his E2 look

I can only imagine what Snyder would have Granny Goodness look like. (kudos to Nicola Scott for her WW design)

A regular dude in a costume (like in the pic above) would have honestly been preferable to what we got.

And Grail would make for a logical WW villain on screen.

Eh. Giving Steppenwolf just the human New 52 look would be massively disappointing and bland in my opinion.

Sticking his original Snyder design with the red and black armor though would have been the best of both worlds.

I was just saying that if I had to choose between the theatrical cut SW and the New 52 SW I'd pick the latter.

Kirby made it pretty clear when he started his Fourth World saga that they are literal gods.

gods, like Zeus, Ares, Artemis... all gods...all dead...

I think the small G god is another term for superpower aliens. They can and are killed and defeated.

They were worshiped as gods by less advanced beings that didn't know any better...

Snyder has a definite vision for these things and internal logic.
I am looking forward to something great. Hopefully they tweak or redesign SW to be much better animated.

They will have had more than 9 months to work and refine and supposedly a generous budget.
I want to be WOWED!

I hope they somehow retcon the gods all being dead thing in a future movie. Seeing Diana interact with them in the books is great. And I hope that Diana will be able to return to Themyscira in a future film so we can get more Amazon characters.

I don't know how Diana can interact with them since they are dead... but she did interact with Ares.... ; )

Is it canon that she can't go back to Themyscira? What happens is she did?

I know the animated versions has her and Superman going to Paradise island...

I think it is simple when it comes to The Greek Gods. Just have them be reborn and "they can never truly die" it may take awhile for them to come back but they always will.

Normally she is just banned from coming back and the island lost to her since she wouldnt know the coordinates. And if she were to come back sometimes she is tried as a "traitor"

Well that's not the way Kirby did it, they are divine beings. New Genesis and Apokolips aren't just planets somewhere out in space, they are in a separate dimension. They have cosmic powers derived from The Source.
And they can look like anything.
Some like Baron Bedlam don't even have a physical form, some like The Black Racer use human hosts.
They don't look alike in the comics, no reason they should look alike in the films.

One aspect of them that makes them gods is that their power grows with worship. Also, each one is the embodiment of some concept. And finally, when they die, they don't necessarily die but rather their energy takes time to re-coalesce (sort of like Sauron).

Gods being aliens is MCU thing though, in DC verse, they're just gods for particular group of people (like Amazons) and they can't be "killed", their souls go to Underworld, till they can reappear.

In the Greg Rucka run Diana is the official ambassador of Themyscira and can freely travel between the island and the rest of the world along with other Amazons.

This is sth that ZS could sink his teeth into imo.

Correct that's how it usually goes for her. Even in the animated series she wasn't allowed to return for most part.

This never quite made sense to me either, especially from the DCEU perspective.

Maybe it is quite simply a case that she doesn't know where Themyscira is? What baffles me further though is why the other Amazon women can't leave.

DCEU it's not cannon yet but comics she isn't allowed back because she brought men (the Justice League) on the island when they (the Amazons) needed her help which is forbidden and that's why she usually isn't allowed back only now and then can she return for a limited amount of time.

I think it is just to add to dramatics and have Diana sacrafice her family to go off to Mans World. Superman lost his world, Batman lost his parents, and WW "loses" her island. Amazons dont really seem to have a desire to leave the island and go out into the messy world...I dont blame them lol. They've been screwed over once and refuse to allow history to repeat itself.

Though I do think it is something that should be explored for Gals final film (which I feel like will WW:3)

But Themiscrya changes constantly with each writer (one of the many problems with making WW more of a hit in comic sales imo). She even went back, became Queen of the Amazons and would travel between the two at one point in time.

I want to say that there was also a comic where the Amazons actually allowed male politicians to visit the island but I can't remember where that happened. I personally think that the version of WW where the gods are dead and Themyscira is completely isolated is the most boring version of WW.

I'm not a huge fan of the original Steppenwolf design with all the spikes. It's over the top to the point of being almost silly looking in context.

You know what might have been cool, though? If Steppenwolf had a more humanoid design, like the actual movie, but in pitched battle could transform into the original design, or something more sinister. A take on the werewolf concept, essentially.
