Justice League Zack Snyder Directing Justice League (The Snyder Cut Edition)

I just think some Snyder fans just want more people to look back fondly on MOS-JL and not be the butt of jokes etc. However, this whole, wait a few years, you'll see fans turn around, I just don't see happening. There's just too many reboots and current comic book movies, shows and series that I think it's tough to look back and appreciate it.

i agree with this. it sucks when a mass of people dont like what you like. it feel isolating. plus all the jokes from the Martha scene. we discuss the movie alot but most outside the fandom have long moved on.

I think for lot if people its really the sense of crushing disappointment that leads to hyperbole. And i get that, i’ve felt it before. For a long time Raimi’s Spiderman 3 was like THE movie event of my life and the hype i had for it was at epic proportions. And i walked out of that movie feeling deflated and even mad at Raimi for a little bit. But even then i would never have called SM3 the worst movie ever, not even close but definitely a very disappointing one.

And for what its worth time has been kinder to that one for me, theres still some unforgiveable things in it but theres also a lot to like about the movie, it just ended up being a bit of a mess.

It’s such a horrible feeling, it’s happened to me a lot over the years, films you really get hyped for, watching & following the build up with amazing trailers but they either were awful (Rob Zombie’s Halloween) or just mediocre (Superman Returns, Halloween 2018). It’s always a shame when you’re incredibly hyped for something and it really disappoints.

But I agree time can be kind, I think with some films when another version has come since that you love you kind of give those things that disappointed you a pass cause you have something else.

I agree. I love BP - but the CGI in the final act is trash.

However, Darkseid's CGI seems worse than the title villain's CGI from competitor studio's ensemble film (if we have to be specific and compare apples with apples:

I mean... you're comparing Darkseid shots where he's away from the camera to the point where his face isn't filling the entire shot, to a shot of Thanos' face up close. I'm not disagreeing with you, but it's not exactly the best example to make your point across.

But I'm sure there are fans of Spider-Man 3 or Watt's Spider-Man series who want people to revisit these movies but it doesn't help that there's already a new Spider-Man.

Did they modified the nose part in the new shoots? u can see bit of bruce nose or am i seeing stuff lol

Eeeeeh.....I'm not gonna pretend I speak for all the "haters," but a lot of critics and myself thought Zack Snyder was a bad storyteller who makes bad movies well before he ever got his hands on this universe. And that simply didn't change when he got to DC. It's not just about hype and expectations.

We have not really seen Darkseid's face apart from Uxas, the latter seems to be better rendered as this still from the trailer demonstrated:

The complaint about CGI seems silly. Maybe I'm too old but I've never been bothered by poor CGI.

CGI created effects will always looked unrealistic, no matter how much computing power you can draw from.

First chance to get on here after weekend trailer. OH DEAR LAWD. Happy does not even begin to cover it for all the reasons we got the trailer, the actual film, but MOST of all, for the fact that Zack got to see his vision and to see that justice has been served for himself as a film-maker, as a parent and for the pain the family has been through in their daughter's honour of the fight shown in the face of the most in-humane actions from WB.

Same. When people are discussing the finer points of CGI in here, I always feel like Thomas Haden Church as Jack Cole in Sideways:

Miles Raymond: It tastes like the back of a ****ing L.A. school bus. Now they probably didn't de-stem, hoping for some semblance of concentration, crushed it up with leaves and mice, and then wound up with this rancid tar and turpentine bull****. ****in' Raid.

Jack Cole: I dunno, it tastes pretty good to me.

The best CGI effects that I ever saw were all the apes in the Planet of the Apes. I would bet that Disney's Ape film will not be able to top it unless they get WETA effect house to do it for them.

No, there's definitely levels to this craft. It's absurd to pretend they're all comparable.

My favorite CGI creation is still Davy Jones.

I'll always refer to it as near impeccable CG. 15 years on and it hasn't aged one bit across its peers.

Even if ZSJL is successful, it seems like getting a sequel will still be impossible because of Walter Hamada, not to mention removing Ray Fisher from Flashpoint.

I still contend Marvel sacrificed Black Panther in order to make Thanos look realistic.

It worked in helping Infinity War a loved film, but cost BP a legit shot to win the oscar in a relatively weak year.

Still in awe of what those Pirates movies pulled off years ago.

could be. They said the costumes and cowl were falling apart. Foam rubber tends to decay over time. Maybe they had to remove the bottom of the nose?

maybe just to let Ben breath better?

Does anyone know (appreciate it's hugely early at this point) of a home release date on Blu-ray / 4K yet, that's been mentioned. I'd heard it maybe around 4-6 week after the streaming date in March.

As I mentioned in my post above regarding Planet of the Apes, there are some exceptional CGI creature effects but I still maintained that these effects still look unrealistic. Even the apes in Plant of the Apes were not immune from it.

The only CGI effects that managed to fool my eyes are the non-living stuffs, like in the case of Zod's armour in MOS. I originally thought that Shannon was wearing a prop but it turned out to be entirely CGI.

Only the practical effects will stand the test of time. Just look at brundlefly in Croneberg's 1986 'The Fly'. Nothing IMO surpassed Goldblum's transformation into the brundlefly monster.
