:D:

I mean... the next film I plan to watch is North by Northwest from Hitchcock, so Zack's Owls movie could be a great follow-up, who knows. :funny:

It's been a long time since I saw it but... I actually remember liking the Ga'Hoole movie...

So, um, apparently THIS was a thing...

Original Script for Zack Snyder's Zombie Film Was Genuinely Disgusting

I think there is some justification to those critiquing this gig for Snyder, for the same reason people critique Guy Ritchie continuing to land big budget jobs. White men in Hollywood never cease to fall up, while someone like Ava DuVernay makes one bomb and people are shocked she manages to land another job.

That doesn't faze me. But I'm a horror guy. Italy produced far worse, decades ago. Ever heard of Joe D'Amato? The guy literally made zombie porn movies when no such subgenre existed.

I loved the DOTD remake, so if Snyder is able to recapture any of that magic than I definitely think we could be in for quite a treat. Him getting away from all the blockbuster stuff for a while sounds like a good decision IMO.

That’s even worse than I remembered.

Hey @KRYPTON INC. remember jumping down my throat for merely noting Snyder’s fixation on this subject matter?

Uh... Huh...

Did you even bother to read what you posted?

For those that won't bother...

The director attached BEFORE Snyder said there was material about zombie raping in the original script. The article notes that said material has now been scrubbed from the script and now Snyder is taking over.

So... Stuff he didn't write or originate was in an old script.

How does this prove anything of what you are saying NOW or then?

Lemme answer before you start twisting yourself in knots to justify your vapidity... It doesn't. Because you in a stunningly obtuse assumption WANT to think ill of a director's moral character because he did some films you didn't like. Thanks for playing though. See the hostess on your way out for the home version.

Snyder's been attached to this movie for over a decade now. Guess it’s just a big coincidence that rape somehow found it’s way into another one of his movies?

Though you clearly want me to I have never at any point “spoken ill of his moral character”. Just that Snyder seems fixated on that subject matter. It’s a nuetral fact. You jumped down my throat for no reason then, and here you are again with the self-righteous grandstanding for reasons you entirely made up in your head.

Yeah. The article post starts out by saying Zack's movie won't include that. It's like Flint didn't get past the headline.

It’s been in the script for the past decade, and just so we’re clear Snyder’s name has been attached to this since day one. I’m aware they removed it, but “We removed the Zombie rape” being the first bit of PR for this after the initial announcement makes my point for me.

I feel like your point would be made if the article called Snyder an absolute madman for not changing anything about the script including the zombie rapists.

“We removed the zombie rapists” being the first bit of PR for this after the initial announcement makes my point pretty clear.

I don't see the Snyder -> rape connection at all, but even if it was there.. who cares? Especially in a horror movie. Are we really going to argue tastefulness when it comes to a zombie film?

I don't care what Zack does in this movie, let him go as dark as he wants. Who cares what he includes or doesn't, its his own original story with original characters

Not like anyone's gonna be saying "Random Zombie #5 would never do that! He doesn't rape! He just eats violently rips people apart with his mouth!"

Snyder went from directing mega budget superhero flicks to what will undoubtedly be a lower budget Netflix movie. How is that a step up? And DuVernay is still directing New Gods. I get your point here, but this example doesn't really work.

Plus Zack doing a lower budget movie seems to be going back to his early movies. Dawn of The Dead had a 26 million budget and 300's budget was 65 million.

Not that I need to tell you, but a project can remain "in development" for a long time. Zack probably hadn't even looked at the story beyond reading the initial treatment. He's been kind of busy with films, and other things.

I completely missed the zombie rape aspect of this script. Whether or not you think it's okay about the whole rape part it still turns a presumably female character into another object of violence and lust.

Being a zombie doesn't excuse it either. Zombies tend to kill and eat people. Making them want to kill, eat and rape women doesn't elevate the zombie horror genre. It's as distasteful and shallow "for the shock value" desperation that saw AVP: Requeim involve babies being eaten out of the womb.

Removing it is good. That doesn't mean this movie will be good itself but it will be that much less desperate for the shock value for the sake of making a shocking scene.
