It's rather worrying that a live-action character is not identifiable.

Meh. If I didn't know anything about the casting and you showed me a picture of her, I would see the black jumpsuit and eye-spot and would assume it's Domino. That's as identifiable as she needs to be.

But I also welcome changes to the source material if there is a good reason and if the change is creative and smart.

Eh, if I were going to guess, I'd probably be able to take a stab at it. To me, it's a look that I would instantly understand who they were going for when it's pointed out. It's much like Keeton's Vulture. If someone says "that's the Vulture" I can go "oh yeah, I see the fur around the collar and all that."

LOL.. those pix on the Jared site showed a woman with an afro do and big glasses in a jumpsuit. No part of that screams Domino... which is why I said she was not identifiable.

Seems such an odd departure to make her some blaxploitation chick when they have black comic book characters they can't even get right. Storm, Bishop and Darwin in particular.

That just looks like Kate Beckinsale from the first Underworld movie.


I think there's a bias for the albino/white skin in Hollywood is reserved for "other"/weird characters. Not really lead or sexy female character.

They coudl have but the chances of them hiring a black woman and making her white wasnt going to go over well and a controversy that they werent likely to want to tackle. Im glad they didnt do that. The minute Zazie was cast, I dont think people should have expected a comic accurate look with the character

they did know it would cause controversy which is why they didnt paint her face white. They could have and probably should have hired a white actress, but they didnt. It is what it is now and this is what we will have to deal with

Casting a white actress doesn't mean they would've painted her chalky white. There is no controversy that anyone here knows of. Just speculation.

It's ****ing hilarious how someone on an Internet forum calls a highly regarded professional such as Bill Corso "not a really good marke-up artist," just because he can't get over his interpretation of a comic book character.

Comic book purists crack me up when talking about movies and filmmaking.

Like as if that was gonna happen. Domino of the comics looks nothing like Harley Quinn. One is a brunette with short hair. The other one is a blonde with long hair with very red lipstick. The only similarities they have are their gender and their skin isn't dark. But no they don't look alike and who cares if they do. Like as if Harley wasn't popular and Domino's personality is way different.

Then that's not a very good decision. It only hindered Domino of this film to look dissimilar to the comics version, a look that old fans are used to seeing for how many decades now. Its a disrespect to the character's visual presentation.

Domino is not a very well known mainstream character to begin with. It's not gonna impact the film in any major way. I don't mean this to be a jerk but we go through this same song and dance literally every time a character's race is changed (remember when Idris Elba was gonna ruin the Thor movies?) and it pretty much never actually amounts to anything.

Eh. I was merely speaking for myself as I am familiar with Domino's look even before the first X film came out. And I don't care about Heimdall so I won't get to that. Though that being said, the casting for Valkyrie is not good simply because the actress doesn't look the part.

If that was the sole requirement for casting, sure. But thankfully the internet isn't in charge of casting movies, much to the betterment of the medium. Otherwise we'd end up with nothing but pro wrestlers and SyFy actors playing all the Marvel roles.

Really? When it comes to fan casting, I rarely see the wrestlers and sy fy actors as the top suggestions. If it was up to me, I would have cast a more well known actress to play as Domino.
