I'm curious to see what they'll do with the character going forward. At the moment, I'm not a fan of her being an original character co-opting Mary Jane's role, based on Fiege's comments.

I'm sure I'm in the minority on this, but I still wouldn't be opposed to having it be revealed that her full name is Michelle Mary Jane Watson and having her develop into something like the Ultimate version of the character. As unlikely as that is.

Was one of the few people who didn't think much of her in Homecoming. MJINO or not, seems like she's like the love interest for MCU's Spidey, so I've already come to terms with it even if I disagree with it.

Hoping they give her a lot more meat this time around.

and frankly, until then, my interest in the MCU Spidey is rather dim. which is surprising and unfortunate, because I really wanted Spidey in the MCU.

They need to feature something in the sequel that is not even in initial only and not even a character. Maybe just a paperweight on Peter's desk. That can replace one of the cast members.

One of the worst characters to be introduced/"refreshed"/whatever, in the Spidey movies! And the actress isn't among the best ones they could get either.

The best way to redeem this franchise is to kill her in the opening scene of the sequel! Hobgoblin blows up the high school (hopefully fatkidNedLeeds goes too in the explosion!) or Carnage decides to slice some people randomly and he choses Peter's high school (might work since we will get the Venom movie too!).

I can only hope that "MJ" is at least likeable in the sequel. I would think that the "Helga Pataki" act would actually push people like Peter to not interact with her period rather than befriend her and learn that she is a layered individual after spending time with her.

I was honestly more invested in Liz Allen than Michelle. If she returns just drop the MJ moniker as that just confuses everyone as she's not meant to be MJ and do something worthwhile with the character this time round.

If they want to call her MJ then she should have been Mary Jane. If not then she should just be Michelle. They could have the introduced Mary Jane in later movies. Now they can't do that anymore.

I didn't marry the first person I dated, so I don't expect them to tie up a trilogy with a marriage.

Well since Peter will still be in HS by the time the trilogy comes to a close, I'd highly doubt they'd approach the subject of marriage anyway.

You could still introduce Mary Jane now though. If they took a classic approach to her character, like her intro in the comics, Peter will see her outer beauty and her fun, exciting personality. However, his relationship with her won't go much beyond that because he'll end up thinking she's too shallow for him. It isn't until after MJ and Peter for that matter go through some development, they'll both learn how much in common they have and how much they truly mean to one another.

They've already introduced MJ. They aren't going to introduce her again. Best to start dealing with that.
