Well said.
Why thank you :woot:
Anyone looking for a more "scientific" explanation for zombies should read the chapter in The Zombie Survival Guide that discusses the Solanum virus. It's the most thought-out explanation for the zombie plague scenario so far.
I agree however (just for clarification) I was responding to a query about the potential and "realism" of the speedier ones which are not touched upon in that text...

Oh yeah...the rigor mortis question. I prefer slow shuffling zombies of course, but a case could be made that the very recently resurrected ones could move a bit faster for a while.

Realistically speaking, that'd be more preferable and has not gone unthought of when I bring up the zombie subject. Has anything used that method?

Well it all depends on how fast infection, death and resurrection take place.

In the 2003 remake of Dawn of the Dead, the victims pretty much popped up as zombies mere seconds after dying. In the Romero movies (for the most part) it took longer. Max Brooks zombies take about 24 hours to resurrect, so some rigor mortis would have started by that point.

Lies!

I was asking for which scene :ninja:

you caught me talking out of my ass. i don't recall them showing actual biting, but there's no reason to believe they didn't bite. the scene they describe with people being trapped in the train station and the virus spreading throughout the crowd would be a good example of possible biting. if everyone's cramped together in an enclosed space, the most logical way the virus spread was via bites, since it's tougher to pin someone down and drool on them if the space is filled with so many people.

I suppose it was a possibility.

the living dead, sneezed on a zombie in the middle of biting him. Would his sneeze be dangerous?

If he sneezed blood and it got into your eyes, mouth or open wound then yes, very.

Plus, if a bullet or shrapnel cuts through a zombie and then wounds a living person, that person's screwed.

Also, don't ever attempt to punch a zombie with bare hands. You may cut your hand and thus become infected in the process!

EUREKA!!!

just finished the first draft of my Zombie Script...

now comes the editing and rewrites

Rigor doesn't last, so you'd have fast zombies at first who'd get stiff and go back to being fairly quick...

At least wear something around your hand like a shirt.

Common sense.

If it's red, don't touch it. They teach that in non zombie scenarios when you MIGHT come in contact with infected blood. Why risk it when dealing with positively contaminated blood? :o

lots of things about the modern zombie movie irk the hell out of me....

Exactly
I know, it drives me nuts.
In my zombie/vampire comic I refer to the stupidity of it.:o

Like what?

Question: What would be your gun of choice if there was a zombie apocalypse? (cannot choose bazooka)

Just one gun? An M-16 with a scope. If I could take several?

  • M-16 scoped
  • Twelve gauge tactical shotgun equipped with slugs
  • One Pistol

Like what?
Well the universal law that says no one caught in a fantastical situation can have any knowledge of the threat in said situation; starting to fade but c'mon really

Mislabled films; the creatures in the 28 series while technically in the Zombie genre are not Zombies

Fully automatic weapons, shotguns, and rifles; lots of noise and if your far enough to use them you should be running away, that's many wasted bullets (except for in those awful cases when u must go through the Zombie hoard)

Complete lack of attempts to find protective clothing; at least put on a leather jacket some boots and some gloves...

there are many more but I run dangerously close to steeping on my own toes and putting out some of the tricks I intend to spring with my film...

I'll give you one more The name of the genre; George R the founder of the Genre never once called them Zombies in the first few films that caught on as a result of the European sequels he called them Ghouls and while still not mythologically accurate (don't think there is a real term for shambling mindless undead ,vengeful, angry, or evil undead ...plenty but not shambling mindless) It is what the founder of the Genre dubbed them so...

The best thing would be if you could find some police riot gear. Combined with an assault rifle you'd be a killing machine.
