⚾ The MLB Thread

The Rockies have been playing better, however, it's still a long shot for the Rockies to make the Playoffs.

The White Sox are most likely to lose over 50 games before the 2024 All-Star break begins so White Sox fans are going to be drinking a lot of alcohol during a very bleak and utterly depressing season.

OMG.....what a shame!!!! The greatest umpire in the history of baseball will no longer be calling balls and strikes. The man who has made the strongest case in history for having a machine make calls is gone....wah...wah....wah....

Angel Hernandez is spelled with no "I"s (eyes).

I should have thought of this before, but at least "retiring" is spelled with "two" eyes. :funny:

He was probably going to get fired so he "retired". LOL Good riddance. Nothing personal bro, but you suck.

As a Cubs fan it's been a challenging for more than 5 days since they've been consistently losing games, however I'm still hopeful they can end this long struggle and get back to above 500.

Rockies fans can be pretty happy that the Rockies will most likely succeed in winning more games than the abysmal White Sox.

The Royals continue to have a smooth sailing season in the first half. Although the MLB is 162 regular season games, that is why Royals fans aren't overreacting to a winning record in the 1st half.

Hey!!!! Anyone out there telling me commissioner Manfred doesn't want to see a Dodger v Yankees WS? :funny:

I'm pretty damn happy that the Cubs have gotten back on the winning track because they get the benefit of playing an abysmal White Sox team that has succeeded with keeping the games close, however, they continue to find ways not to close.

The Marlins stink as much as a skunk and onions combined because they've been outscored during their last 4 games.

The Mets fans can be entertained that the Mets continue to be a depressing awful team. The Mets are 11-21 since May 1. It is that factual reason why even realistic optimistic Mets fans would agree it's highly unlikely the Mets have a great turnaround.

I walked past the stadium a few times. The atmosphere sounded great.

Oh that’s what this is, was wondering why there were suddenly thousands of Yanks in town. :D I’ll have to go one day, only ever been to 1 baseball game.
I though it was the Mets and not the Yanks. :funny:

Haha.

Yankees is the stadium I went to for Red Sox. About a decade ago. Amazing crowd given the home team were losing.

I went there too about 7 or 8 years ago. I was doing some IT work for the bank I worked for and they flew me out to NY. My wife and I went and had a good time. I found the people of NY to be very friendly and helpful. Not at all like the reputation I'd heard about.

I always wondered about about sporting events in another country and how "popular" or how manufactured it is to seem popular over here watching. There is just too many US teams to see a packed stadium for? Or is it just the spectacle of the event?

I had a great time, and someone had the VIP box or whatever you call it, was awesome! I'll definitely see games here if they are on my doorstep - I walk past the stadium nearly every day as it is.

I love NY, one of my favourite cities I've been to. Went back very soon after my first visit. There is a vibe there you don't get in many cities.

A large part must be the novelty value, but also there are loads of American fans at the matches (and in the area around the stadium (right next to a big shopping centre, loads of places to eat and at the Olympic park)) beforehand. There are probably UK people travelling a bit further to get there but it would likely be a different story if there were tons of matches at different stadiums (less novelty). There are legit fans in the UK who prefer it to some of the sports here. One of my friends has a group of 20 or so who regularly watch the NFL and go to any events in the country. I've been before and it was very fun.
