🇪🇺 Discussion: The European Union

I've heard, and I don't know if this is true, that the next time Italians vote for Prime Minister won't be for another 3 years. So they are going to have to deal with more Berlusconi nonsense until 2013.

As I said before the people got screwed...I would vote out every single person in their Parliament that voted to keep this idiot in office....I'm not sure how this was done if it was just the upper house, or there was a vote in the lower house as well, but whoever said ok for this guy to stick around should be booted out of office. IMO.

Did anyone else hear about Italy's Prime Minister being involved in an underage prostitution investigation?

As horrible as this is, maybe this will get his sorry ass thrown out of office. Hope he gets what he deserves.

They've been working on that for quite awhile....the last little fiasco about partying etc, was a part of all of that....why he wasn't thrown out at that point, I have no idea.

They had a chance to throw him out about two months ago, but he barely survived that. I have always wondered what Sarkozy and Merkel think of Berlusconi.

According to the AP, former French President Jacques Chirac will face trial on charges that stem from a scheme he masterminded to have Paris City Hall pay for work that benefited his political party when he was mayor.

According to Reuters, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi appeared in court for the first time in eight years today.

Holy crap, Europe's leaders are falling apart...

is laughing at Europe's misery.

Europeans shift long-held view that social benefits are untouchable
In a measure of the shift, Manuel Valls, a presidential hopeful in France’s Socialist Party, challenged party doctrine recently by declaring that it should not make an issue of preserving the 35-hour workweek if French factories have to compete with Chinese factories where the workweek starts at 60 hours and goes up from there. In Denmark, Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen rattled many in that icon of Scandinavian cradle-to-grave welfare by suggesting Danes should work longer before retiring, to peel back the deficit by $2.8 billion.

EAT CROW. You can't defy the laws of arithmetic.

Well hell, that has been going on for the last decade....

And as usual, we are walking the opposite direction of the rest of the world....lol

Well, we are consistent.

I've heard that the Italian Idiot is considering another term as Prime Minister.

Does not surprise me....

only in italy someone like him can survive that long. corruption on every level of society...

If he is elected again, I think we will see the worst riots in the history of Italy soon after....

Who will hold Sovereignty? The EU??????

Basically bunch of outsiders will take over tax collection. On top of taking their assets to pawn off. In other words losing de facto.

Probably some IGOs, NGO and Banks

Holy ****....... ,Wow,Turkey might gain Cyprus without the Greek influence there....

There's growing discontent around the European Union about the bailouts.

Several countries that are outside of the Eurozone and are not part of the single European currency are having to contribute every time a country goes bust. The countries at the very top of the scale (Germany especially) are fed up of having to pay the way for the Ireland's, Greece's and the Portugal's of the world.
