🏈 NFL - Game On

As someone whose team is in desperate need of speed, especially at receiver... this year's class' 40 times are

Patriots.

What's the rumor on what their plans are? If they want to go wideout in the 1st or 2nd, they can certainly get plenty of speed, but I don't know that one of the top 3 receivers (London from USC isn't really a speed burner anyway) will be available at their position. Once a WR drops, I've noticed that it can start a bit of a landslide. If they were willing to wait for him to recover, Williams from Alabama could be a steal if he's still around. Besides WR, what do you think their needs are? Maybe LB or CB? This draft seems to be pretty deep at the interior DL and I wonder if they might cut some vets to save money and go there?

Not that familiar with the details of the Pats though.

They have a lot of wholes, but the two that need immediate filling LB and CB. I don't want them picking anything else beside a LB in first, unless it's some absolute generational talent that fell into their lap at receiver. Bill's track record at skill players on offense has been wretched, so I'd rather use later round picks at that position. Same goes for CB, he's much better at latter round/undrafted guys. I'd much rather he trade for one of those guys.

Their linebacking core was pretty bad this year. They're slow and old, and I'm hoping they cut and draft high. I'm really liking Devin Lloyd, but as you said, this a deep draft for LB it seems so there's maybe five or six other guys I'm interested in.

On the receiver front, there's a couple of wideouts I like. Not sure if any one of them will slip to the second round far enough for the Pats. A guy I know will be a late 5th/6th rounder is Slade Bolden though in the slot. Played with Jones at Alabama, plus they were roommates. They've got a good connection, and the Pats desperately need a speed slot. It's such a key position in their offense specifically, and they just haven't been able to fill that role since Edelman. The other two Alabama guys would be great if they fall, Williamson and Metchie, but I doubt they're still there plus their injuries concern me. Biggest issue for rookies here is that offense is so dense that a lot of guys struggle to pick it up quickly. The less on field stuff you can do, the harder it is. It's probably much easier now that Jones is under center instead of Brady, but still.

This is such a big and important draft for them though. Maybe even more important than last years.

Obviously Giants need Oline help would like that addressed with our picks but would also like to package those 2 first picks to get a QB
Who don't know but Watson would be ideal if his affairs get resolved

Don't give Barkley or Jones another contract lets see what they do with new regime

I know it's pretty obvious, but the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Carolina holds the key to the Giants' draft. If the Panthers go QB, the Giants will, in all probability, be able to make major upgrades on both sides of the line. IF Carolina goes O line instead, it could be a big downgrade for NY.

So, here's a question for you and @NewYorkSpider (which, I might add, is a god awful name for a Carolina fan.....just kidding.....I get it.....I'm a NY Spider guy myself :cwink: ).

Should NY consider trading up one spot to 6 with their 7 pick and giving up a little something later on in the draft to assure getting this help and, if you're the Panthers and are going QB anyway, do you try to entice the Giants into giving up a little bit and still get your guy? I'm putting this out there because I think a legitimate case can be made for the Panthers to go O line with the first pick if Ekwonu, Neal, or Cross is available...and one of them probably will be.

It looks like the QB I kind of liked for value in maybe the early to mid second round, Desmond Ridder, knocked some socks off at the combine and it doesn't look like there's any way in the world that he lasts past round 1 and might even be an earlyish mid round pick.

I'm kinda trippin on the combine. Amare Barno (DL) ran a 4.36 40. He's 6'6" and goes 245. SMH.....I mean straight line speed is one thing, but still......wonder what his hands are like. Put that dude at TE. LOL

Jordan Davis, a 341 pound DT, ran a 4.78 40.

This S*** is getting ridiculous.

I think the Bengals are under massive pressure to get a blue-chip, can't miss O-Lineman from the draft. If they don't we will see them regress in 2023. So it wouldn't surprise me to see them try to move up.

I think they can address their line in both the draft and free agency. They have a lot of cap space and are in good shape there. If I'm them, the first thing I do is go after a guy like Ryan Jensen and look for a solid right guard in the draft (or maybe even free agency). They actually look "okay" on the left side, but should also look for some depth on their line. Unless they address this, I don't see them going anywhere next season. They had a great end of season run, but they need to be more consistent and a big part of that is up front on offense.

Other than O line, the Bengals don't have any really glaring needs, but they might want to look for an athletic CB and shore themselves up with a better backup TE down the line as there are some pretty good ones to be had this year. They are outstanding at WR, but if there's a speedy wideout, that could be tempting. With Burrow at QB, defensive coordinators are already having nightmares. They are in the enviable position of being able to possibly shore themselves up where they are already good. Anything they can do to get a little more pressure on the QB will make their very patient defense that much better.......and it's already very good. I would easily put them in the top 1/3 in the NFL as they sit.

BTW, I don't think they really need to move up in round 1. There are some very attractive guards who may be available late in round 1 (Raimann or Zion Johnson). I'd feel pretty good about plugging either of them next to Jensen. If you do that, your O line is light years ahead of where it was last year; making Burrow that much more dangerous. Center and guard were, I think, responsible for most of their woes last year.

Rodgers resigns with the Packers for 4 years, $200 million. Pretty clear all the antics he was pulling off last year was just maneuvering for a big deal.

I tell you, if I was in the Packers front office, no way in hell do I pay a 38 year old that kind of money (unless his name is Brady or Montana). I don't think Rodgers will come close to living up to this contract.

If the goal is winning Super Bowls, then yeah I agree. They will win games and he will get his stats. But yeah, I don't think they are getting a ring

Packers will get to the playoffs by default for the next year or two, because their division is so bad. But the Vikings and Bears are close to turning it around. It wont be easy forever.

it shows how selfish he truly is ( i know what he's suppose to say no) but if these top QBs want to have competitive teams then they cant take 25% of the salary cap

outrages contract for a 38 yeal old QB who constantly comes up short in playoffs

Woowee that's a huge number. It's amazing how much praise and defense this guy gets despite being probably the biggest underachiever in NFL history. All that talent and only one freaking SB appearance/ring. But hey he's got multiple MVPs so it's okay right :o

Seems like a really stupid decision to me in the behalf of the Packers. Jordon Love must really suck. Still wouldn't blame them for that draft pick. It was the right decision and they should absolutely do it again in an incoming draft.

Russell Wilson traded to Broncos pending physical

And the big news keeps coming

That one surprises me. Everything seemed to be pointing at him staying. Yeesh, AFC and NFC Wests just swapped as best divisions in football. Herbert, Wilson, and Mahomes. Those will be fun games.

Wow. Big news comes in bunches. Depending on what Denver is giving up, that could be a very dangerous team next year

That's a really good deal for Denver.

I don't think the Giants go OL for both their picks. Even if the Panthers go with Pickett, the Giants need to address their pass rush.

:funny:

Well...I am a Yankees fan, so its' not that awful! :oldrazz:

Came up with the name when Spider-Man 3 was coming out. It just sounded good at the time.

The Panthers restructured Shaq Thompson's and Taylor Moton's contracts. This leads me to believe they're trying to free up space for an OT in FA. If they could grab a guy like Trent Brown, then I think they'll go QB for sure in Round 1.

The NFC's Current Staring QB's

Cowboys - Prescott
Eagles - Hurts
Giants - Jones
Commanders - Heincikie
Packers - Rodgers
Vikings - Cousins
Bears - Fields
Lions - Goff
Buccaneers - Gabbert
Saints - Winston
Falcons - Ryan
Panthers - Darnold
Rams - Stafford
Cardinals - Murray
49ers - Garoppolo
Seahawks - Lock

Compare that to the AFC's starting QB's. Not a whole lot there. lol

Holy ****. I can't believe the Seahawks were dumb enough to trade Russell Wilson. :o

Wilson wanted out ESPN reporting 12 teams were negotiating with Hawks The Washington Commanders offered them 3 first rd picks but Hawks wasn't going to trade him in conference
