Cooper to the Browns. Too bad he's got no one to throw him the ball :o

That sounds like a deal for the Browns. Cooper is no gimme to work out, but, to me, it opens up the possibility that the Browns could go QB in round 1. There's a lot of speed at wideout in this draft and they could still probably pick up a stretch receiver in round 2. If I'm the Browns, I make every effort to retain Clowney or go after someone like Gregory to keep my pass rush going.

EDIT: That gives you a backup QB who knows the offense.....or......you can trade him for a 2023 5th round pick....:funny:

EDIT2: So, it appears Landry is gone from Cleveland and, if so, I "think" the Browns paid about 5M in salary to upgrade from Landry to Cooper (Cooper is at 20M and Landry's savings would be about 15M). If so, that's a deal I take in an unconscious state after being hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat. I doubt the Browns can get anything for Landry as everyone else knows he's gone.

I think the Cooper deal is awesome. Though we still have Baker :o

A lot of Derek Carr rumors going on out there. He's being potentially linked to the Colts, Browns, and Bucs. I don't see how the Colts get him as they are severely lacking in decent draft picks and anything to offer back at QB. While Carr isn't in Watson's league, the Texans are said to be asking for 3 1st round picks or 2 of them and a star player. So, what would Carr command in, say, Cleveland. I could see the Browns offering their #1 pick and Mayfield and maybe a sweetener. Cooper and Carr did some really nice work together in Oaktown. If Mayfield were to come to the Raiders, might it not tempt them to make a better offer for Mariota to stay? Indy is also rumored to be interested in Mariota, but with his injury record, I'd be careful about hanging my hat on him starting anything close to 17 games.

@Spider-Fan ???

I would be happy with Carr, personally

What would you be willing to give? Personally, I think if Cleveland were to get Carr, that future picks would basically be high next round picks; which probably sounds good to Brown fans.

I don’t always follow every news bit, so I don’t know, but has Cleveland already given up on Mayfield?

No. Just @Spider-Fan :funny:

I think the Browns are willing to go with Mayfield, but also recognize that if they could get someone like Carr, they would be very, very tough. If they got someone like Watson, uh......

I think Cleveland would be way more than happy to give up at least this year's #1 pick and Mayfield to get Carr. They'd probably gladly give up next year's #1 (in addition) to get Watson. The thing about trading to a good team that has a glaring need at QB with someone that can lift the team, means your down the line draft picks aren't as valuable as they would be if you traded to a team like, say, Carolina.

Well, interesting conversation to be had. If they wanted Baker plus picks, do it. Just picks, then do it and see what Tampa will give us assuming they actually like Baker.

Yeah, but, if you deal with Tampa Bay, who's lining up under center next year? If you can get enough to turn around and get Watson, you're gold. Maybe the Browns and Bucs 1st round pick (which will mean more than Mayfield) along with a bit of a sweetener gets it done??? I just don't know what Baker's value is at this point, but it's clearly not in the ballpark of Carr; who isn't in the ballpark of Watson.

Tricky stuff being a GM.....

Well, that lasted all of 60 days. God, he must really hate hanging out with his wife :funny:

Honestly, kind of suspected him to come back. Just not with Tampa, or at the very least not with that coach. But if they're keeping things the same that sucks for multitude of reasons. The lead one being the Patriots should've done that despite his crap relationship with Bill.

Maybe he wants to offer me a job during the off-season. :tm$

Man, I could not be happier that Tom's coming back! :applaud

And as a Buc!

So much for all those moronic takes from all of the "experts" of him "retiring" from Tampa Bay to secretly go to another team. :o

Brady's basically been given the keys to that franchise and rightfully so.

my guess is that he just couldn’t bear to go out the way he did; sitting on the bench, watching his last game lost and there being nothing he could do about it.

they better make sure they keep their O line intact and even improve it.

Especially how great of a year he just had. He should have won the MVP over Rodgers.

Also, I never bought into him going to the 49ers. That was his childhood dream but they stupidly turned him down two years ago.

Tampa believed in him and gave him everything he could ask for.

It was pretty clear to me that if he was going to come back, it was going to be with Tampa Bay. The rest of that was just someone trying to get some press.
I don’t know about MVP though.

Speaking of the NFL draft experts, here's the evaluation of Aaron Donald pre draft. In addition to others, his weaknesses were described as his diminutive size. Note his place in the NFL right below his grade. LOL

Damn. Jimmy G isn't going to be a Steeler. I'm disappointed. I needed him in that jersey :(

I don't get this move either way though. Trubisky sucks.

Enjoy your backup qb that you will be starting, Pittsburgh

I dont say this much, but...I would rather have Baker than Mitch, lol!

You're probably right about Trubisky, but I've seen signings like this work out. QB can take a while for some people to learn to play; literally years. I've seen some QBs in their late 20s and early 30s all of the sudden "get it" and go on to have nice careers. I saw Rich Gannon, for example, go from a part time QB at Minnesota and KC to a Pro Bowler and league MVP with the Raiders. When we saw the Gannon signing we were like "What the......????". My take on Trubisky is that he actually got less accurate because he was rushing and unsure about what he was doing. If the Steelers get some O line help, he might just be able to do this. Don't get me wrong, I'm not running out to my bookie and throwing down a Benjamin on it, but I've seen way stranger things happen. If he's available when the Steelers get to the board, look for them to go after Linderbaum (who looks like a can't miss center) and maybe even go guard in the 2nd, as there should still be some talent there. I think they'll also try to plug some holes via free agency. They have a LOT of work to do upfront, but I will say their O line did seem to come around somewhat towards the end of last year.

EDIT: It's "possible" that sitting for a year could have fixed things somewhat for Trubisky, but don't bet the home on it.

Baker's only upside is that he was injured last year. A fully recovered Mayfield "might" do the trick. His arm strength seemed abysmal at times last year, but that could be explained by the injury.

I dont buy it cause I have watched a lot of Baker's games. He even on a good day make usually 1-2 bad reads a game that are nowhere near a WR and either hit the DB in the hands or come close. In 2020, those passes were largely being dropped. 2021, less lucky. I am sure the injuries didn't help, but he had those same bad tendencies since his rookie year. 4th year QBs have to stop making boneheaded decisions every game like that. Unless you are someone like Brett Favre, and Brett Favre Baker Mayfield is not
