🏳️‍🌈 Discussion: LGBTQ+ Rights XVI - Part 6

I’ve never understood how anyone could seriously believe that God - if He exists - cares about who you’re shacking up with. We’re talking about about about a being who possesses incomprehensible levels of power, wisdom, foresight, knowledge, you name it. And there are people out there who thinks He draws the line at something as inconsequential as sexuality?

Nope. Sorry. Not buying it.

For some christinas/catholics they think and believe, a serial murder can be saved if he regrest what he did and can be saved and go to heaven as long as he's straight but if you're gay you definetly will go to hell, no matter if you were good or lived by the christian values

I’m Christian, Roman Catholic in fact - and I’m bisexual. My God is not the hateful one that others claim to be the true God.

Tell that to the crazy religious fans, they seem to forget Jesus is about love and forgiveness when it comes to gays lmao, some people have so much hate on them souls tbh

I won’t deny that. All I know is that the Church probably started this problem, by basically rewriting the Bible back in their formative years. I can’t say for sure, but based on my knowledge, that seems to be where the Church fully embraced most of its hateful stances. For instance, they completely deleted the Gospel of Mary, which called for women to take an active role in the church and also flatly stated that Mary Magdalene was Jesus’ favorite disciple.

I am a practicing Christian, and belong to the United Church of Canada, the largest denomination of Protestantism in Canada and second largest denomination of Christianity in this country next to the Catholic Church. We do equal marriages, ordain LGBT clergy and recognize the equality of women (as much as the congregationalist structure of the church allows). I sometimes go bowling with my pastor and his husband. To be honest, if this church didn't exist (i.e., if I was an American and didn't have this option) I would just be like **** it to all religion.

My kind of Christianity is hard. It involves a personal journey, self reflection, always questioning yourself. It means accepting the world's a crappy place sometimes, and that you're a crappy person sometimes, and we need to take action to prevent both things from getting worse.

Their kind of Christianity is easy. It involves lashing out at a world that isn't the way you want it to be. It means blaming easily identifiable groups (gays, feminists, Muslims, immigrants) for why your life isn't what you want it to be. It means not thinking or reflecting, just repeating words spoken to you by demagogues and hypocrites.

Also, not having to think, as you only do whatever dear leader says.

Mayor Pete goes further in-depth on how he plans to handle the rise of the machines:

Just because he is gay, doesn't mean you have to post everything he does in this thread. Could you keep his campaign stuff to more relevant threads.

Will/can do and makes sense.

Actually just going to post something in the candidate threads now since that will likely become cluttered as a lot more information on each becomes available.

“possible hate crime” ... “possible”? It IS a hate crime.

Unsurprisingly checked and yep the MAGATS are already trying to pass it off as a hoax. Seriously? **** THOSE *******S. Not surprised though since they always do it and the Nazis did as well.

This is horrific - I love Jussie Smollett, first of all, so for this to happen to him - he’s such a nice and wonderful guy. I won’t even waste any words on the perpetrators - I hope Smollett makes a full recovery.

These kind of horrors are exactly what the rhetoric of the far right preach. And this is what the right in general has embraced, made "reasonable". When you encourage those that say being gay makes you an abomination that need to burn in hell. Those that preach white power, and how minorities are inferior and should go away. This is Charlottesville. This is a Trump rally.

Presidential (and likely) candidate replies:

If???? ---->

I set out to include his reply without knowing what he'd write and found that.

Elizabeth Warren hasn't commented yet, nor has Biden.

I really hate being "that guy" but is there any confirmation that these guys were MAGAts other than TMZ? I get itchy about details when people use shady sources.

As I said in the other thread, they can't outright call them racist homophobic *******s because hate crime is an actual thing and the media could get sued for calling them something they aren't guilty of (yet).
