I read this was a non related movie that was canned but then reshot to make it a Cloverfield movie???
As I recall (possibly incorrectly) Clover was also the baby of the monsters. It wasn't a full-sized adult.
Of course even if it were an adult there is nothing to say it was the only one in the ocean or that there aren't other equally catastrophic monsters lurking.
This movie by most accounts is being stitched onto the Clover movie as a way to make money. There was no intention of tying this together from the start. It shouldn't be considered a sequel.
"By most accounts"??? How many REAL accounts are there? And again...this is a JJ freaking Abrams production...so the fact that people seem to be trusting the alleged details as if JJ would never mislead people is kind of odd. The entire history of JJ involves doing the opposite of what is being claimed here.
Yeah, except that this isn't what happened here. This project isn't some case of Abrams secretly producing something with smoke and mirrors. This production can be very easily traced, right down to the studio shutting down and shelving it. I don't think even JJ Abrams is good enough to create a child company of a major studio and make it go bankrupt simply for the sake of hiding a sequel to a quasi-successful cult movie.
You think that the failed division existed solely to make this movie? No...it was making other movies. It failed. That happens. The division shutting down had little to do with whether or not one of the films on the slate was a low-budget sequel to a moderately successful film.
What does it matter Matt? This seems to be really irking you for some reason.
JJ Abrams was involved in Valencia prior to Insurge shutting down. He was not brought in to alter the film to keep it from being shelved. Your premise is wrong, Matt.
