I'm sorry. Is the WBC suggesting that these people deserved to die because they went to see a movie?
What exactly are these psychos protesting?
And they're aware that neo-nazis, Arian Brotherhood members, and KKK clansmen die as well, right? They believe that Americans die because America allows homosexuals rights...pretty much.
Forgive me, what is WBC?
Forgive me, what is WBC?
My point is is that I'm not the only one with that point of view.Yes, as the government knows all and is always right. Not saying you believe this, but using the "government" to support your claim if you are, is well embarrassing. Dude was a terrorist idiot.
Some of them may be in the hospital and cant get access to the Hype, if that is the case. But it is unlikely we will ever know.
We wondered this after 9-11, too.
Ugh, I just really hope this one incident doesn't hurt the future for realistic, dark superhero movies or more Batman films. I just have the sneaky suspicion that this box office is gonna tank and drop further come Sunday.
It was awful to watch on TV from halfway across the country as the second tower fell. I cant imagine what it would have been like so close to the city.
It won't, and I don't think many really care about that right now....
They are probably discussing this in the BO thread in the Batman Forum, which is a better place to discuss it than on this thread....
Understandably, I'm just pondering aloud the possible ramifications this could have on media or society as a whole. I doubt it'll hurt the movie industry but I'm sure ticket sales may plummet for a while for every film. Do you guys think this could turn into another Columbine scaled incident or do you think it'll pass? I'm sort've hoping it passes by the end of this weekend, I'm sure the families want their peace and privacy.
It was bizarre, since I was in midtown and a safe distance away from it, but at the same time I was watching it on TV and the real thing out the window just behind it. It felt like it was far away, but I don't think it hit me until later that we were so close to everything.
I'll never forget this girl we spoke to on the train back to NJ. She was in the second tower and she kept going about how she almost went back for her jacket before she got out of the building. She was laughing a little about it, but she kept repeating it.
It's the everyday stuff that gets left behind that hits you. It's like, 'wait, they were just here...'.
It was awful to watch on TV from halfway across the country as the second tower fell. I cant imagine what it would have been like so close to the city.
The media has been checking movie theaters in their area all day....and most have said that they see no change, and when they interview people, they say that this is not going to keep them from going to the movies....and lines were still around the block for TDKR...
I never knew the guy but its amazing that a random act of violence that I saw on TV has a local connection.
Just goes to show that we are all connected in some way. You may not have known him, but because of your connection to him I now know of him and somewhat of his story.
We are all connected, believe that.
Also, as a human being I would like nothing more than to see this man get what he has coming to him for what I think he deserves by hurting and killing so many.
But as a Christian I am slightly torn, cause I know and believe that saying or wishing that he receives the death penalty is not the right thing to do as a Christian based on my faith. I should be praying for this man that he finds God, that God saves his soul (I know this may be confusing to many of you as it is sometimes to me). I should be praying that his man eventually turns his life over to God and ask for forgiveness of his sins and that he truly means it. I should be praying for this man as I am the victims, their families, and friends for that is true Christianity. Yeah, at times it makes no sense to us ordinary people, but that is the point. I should be doing these things, and I haven't or as much as I should.
I'm not for the death penalty; however, I have never had someone close to me be taken in such a way. I only pray that my strength as a Christian remains in case something like this does happen to me or someone very close.
I ask many of you to pray for the families, for the victims and yes in some way for this man. It's hard and if it doesn't make sense to you please find a spiritual leader, a book of your choosing if you would like. I repeat if you should like.
I want this man to be punished for what he has done and justice to be found, but I don't want more death even if it is "lawful punishment" death brought on by the legal system.
I apologize if anyone is offended, but I don't wish to be silent about my Christianity and ask that all remember that tolerance includes religious beliefs.
The Bible says that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. Jesus said "you will know them by their fruits."
Those of us that are true Christians are praying for these hurting families, and it would never cross our mind to protest grieving people. Jesus went and wept at the tomb of Lazarus, with his sisters, even though he would raise him from the dead just a short time after. That is how Christians should act toward others in pain.
I feel awful that these greiving families will have to face scoffers and wicked heartless people like the WBC. But the best thing you can do, to combat what they do, is to show love and compassion towards these victims and their families.
I would not want to be anywhere near that conversation....
And like a true Christian that compassion also goes towards the shooter as well. That's what a true Christian would do anyways.
