According to the company's internal tracking, PS3 sales increased by more than 135 percent at the company's top five retailers since the new $499 price was introduced back on July 9. Furthermore, during this two-week period, total PlayStation hardware sales increased by 161 percent, software increased by 15 percent and peripherals by 60 percent.

As for June, SCEA noted that the PlayStation brand "continued to exhibit solid growth evidenced by a 21 percent increase in total retail dollars generated year-over-year in North America with total sales of $393 million." PS3 sales grew 21 percent in North America, up from May's 98,469 units sold at retail (some quick math would show that a 21 percent increase yields over 119K). In addition, the PSP grew 31 percent year-over-year, selling 290,108 units. The PS2 did well for itself again as well, selling through 270,763 for the month.

wow, well see this evidence just furthers my theory that Sony will never again have one SKU priced at $599

I think that this news will lead to Sony dropping the price of the 80GB model once the 60GB model is out of stock.

I tend to agree. I never beleived that they would release a standalone system at that price after their recent price cut

So again, PS3 takes 3rd with under 100k/month yet again, and not a single PS3 game makes the Top 20 chart yet again?

Go PS3!

Wait to the July numbers, then the software sales of August, September, October, and November

Yay, I think July is obviously the month that people should be looking it.

Why show the June numbers? They're irrelevent. We gotta see the price cut numbers when they're released.

The total monthly numbers for July won't be out until the secon week of August. :p

I almost positive it will too. it's just that Sony can't come out and say this because then it would take much longer for them to actually get rid of the 60 gig model.

But of course! :D

I've been DYING to use that pic since I came across it like 2 weeks ago, but at that point it seemed too long after the May's sub-100k numbers were released to use it then. Luckily PS3 sucked in June, too, so I was able to use it now ;)
