I highly doubt we trade for Holt. Where did you hear this rumor?

I can't say who told me, but I'm not the only one who has heard it:

Dec. 28, 2008,
FoxSports.com's John Czarnecki is reporting that Torry Holt would like to end up in Carolina next season if he is released by the Rams this off-season. The Rams released Isaac Bruce last year and feelings around the league are that they will do the same to Holt. Holt played his college ball in Carolina for North Carolina State.

No, the other 20% see things from a different perspective.

They see a team that did not have the personnel to routinely compete for a championship. They see a team that entered the last two offseasons with an enormous amount of cap room, but no aggression in free agency. They see an ownership that appears to be more interested in their uk soccer club than their nfl franchise.

Jon gruden certainly deserved criticism for this team's shortcomings in the past 6 years. But the blame can also be laid upon anyone else involved in making personnel decisions over that same period of time.

Arizona needs to sign Warner and look for his replacement, because its not wearing number 7.

Thats pretty much it. I have no faith in Leinart at all, literally none, because as I have said in the past he throws to the same recievers, who do most of the work, and he hasnt produced. The problem is, Warner is replaceable and getting very old. Resigning him to anything other than a 2 year deal is a bad idea.

Wow, I have never in my life seen a poster with whom I agree less than I do you in post after post. But why should I agree with you when you don't even agree with yourself?

Well, considering how often I am right when I talk about this subject(which I can honestly say, were not in the poltics forum), I dont know what that says about your knowledge of the game.

That said, I never said anywhere that I thought Leinart would be any good. The problem is, on one hand you have a guy your paying a ton to sit on the bench who isnt very good but is very young. On the other, a very old guy whose playing very well, but youll have to pay a lot for his age. Both are throwing to world class wide recievers who do most of the work.

My answer would be someone OTHER than Warner would be in the best interest of their franchises long term plans, because Warner clearly isnt the future. If it Warner or Leinart, I would say make it Leinart. Youll go through initial growing pains but hopefully itll pan out and youll franchise is is set at QB for years to come. If not, you have to look for your future quarter back, which is exactly where they will be should the resign Warner.

It doesnt matter how well Warner is playing right now or in the past, at some point (and, given his age, probably some point soon) his number will drop. It happens to everybody his age.

When you run a franchise, the only thing you can think about is "what is a player going to do for me?", not "what have they done for me". Tennessee is probably going through the same thing with Kerry Collins. Green Bay went through it last year with Brett Favre. More often than not, you are better off in the long run going with the younger guy and letting him develop than you are signing an oldie to be your franchises qb.

I don't know about you guys but I really want the Eagles to lose just because I am sick of hearing the Phillies comparrisons from the sports media (especially ESPN. It seems with the lack of Farve news they've jumped all over the Eagles).

I don't know.

...so your picking against the Eagles soley on the basis of spite and/or you can't find another cable station.

Donald Rumsfield thinks that's a little over the top.

Umm, not really. I am the Cardinals because I like Warner, their coach, and I feel they are on a really hot streak right now that the over-Hyped Eagles cannot stop.

I'd like the Cards to win....Ken Wisenhunt has done a great job down there and it's cool to see a guy like Warner (who everyone thought was done) succeed

No love for Edge, Surf?

You jest...Edge is who L.T. attains to be-
I am pullin for 32. I saw his interview on SC this morning. I MISS THE GOLD FRONTS...:cmad::yay:. He was such the dude Irsay gave him a ring and rightly so. He's a true football player-and I hope his dud ass team makes ago of it. I think Iggles will win, but I'm ditchin work just to see this game.

Naw Matt came across like ESPN was beamin images into his brain...forcin him to sing 'Fly Eagles Fly'...mix in a Sports periodical now an then The 4 letter only does what you let it.

I don't think anyone is advocating a long term deal for Warner, but I think not resigning him would simply be a bonehead move for the franchise - even if Warner is not your future, he is your present and your present is hosting an NFC Championship game which should be the goal of the ball club.

I think the hype for the Eagles will doom them. The Eagles thrive in the underdog role, but they fumble and fail as the pack leaders. McNabb has shown this his entire career, the Eagles have shown this in their modern history.

On Sunday night I was worried that everyone would jump in the Arizona bandwagon after they have defeated two very good teams and Philadelphia has not looked impressive in their post season match ups - I feared the Cardinals would get cocky and the Eagles would be wanting respect. I am thrilled to see it is exactly the opposite.

Matt Leinart is chillin'...holding a clipboard and a headset and banging ASU girls....

I think I may place money on this weekend's games for the first time ever.

I think Arizona +4 and under 24 in the Steelers/Ravens games are as close to locks as you will ever get in professional sports.

I hate the extra week off before the Super Bowl. It's just time for more media hyperbole. :down

Strangely enough, I will be tuning in for that. :D

Ooh, ooh, and soon, we'll have the Pro Bowl.

REPORT: SPAGS TO THE RAMS
Posted by Mike Florio on January 17, 2009, 1:54 p.m. EST
At a time when no one seems to know what the Rams will do by way of hiring a new head coach, Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch does.

Miklasz, a veteran of the Rams beat, says that Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is getting the job.

“Spagnuolo will be the new head coach of the St. Louis Rams,” Miklasz writes. “The Rams and Spagnuolo are currently negotiating the terms of his contract and indications are that we can expect the announcement of the hiring later today.”

There’s no equivocation in the report. Time will tell whether it’s accurate.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!! jeezes Spags you couldn't wait 2 or 3 years for Coughlin to retire so you could take over the Giants...

I like this move for the rams, it tells me they are finally willing to take things seriously.
