The National League-champion Philadelphia Phillies may have a fella playing with a torn muscle in left field. Raul Ibanez(notes) replaced Pat Burrell(notes) in left field in Philadelphia and has quickly won the hearts of Phillies fans this season. Now it's looking like he may have to have off-season surgery, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The partially torn muscle is apparently near his abdomen. He supposedly put off surgery in late June and certainly isn't going to have it now until the World Series ends. He claims that he doesn't even think about it when he plays and that he isn't generally bothered by it.

Supposedly Ibanez was given the choice in June to have surgery or to go on the DL and rest before playing with the injury. Before deciding to hold off, Ibanez supposedly went up to Toronto to see a neuromuscular specialist and then visited a surgeon in Philly to get the second- and third-opinion lowdown.

Gay, it was cooler to have one giant MLB thread. Good one SHH!

You know what kinda sucks. I made that thread shortly after the WS and it had around 10,000 posts. The NFL thread was made in Feb and it has around 12,000 posts. Damn fooseball.

A point is only as slow as you let it be. Which is usually pretty damn slow.

So Mark McGwire as the Cardinals hitting coach. That's gonna open up some pretty good jokes whether they hit great or poorly.

Brendan Ryan will suddenly develop power. He's on the Andro!

If closing the 10+ post threads cleans things up, please close the rest of the large threads. THe loading time has been terrible as of late.

For those in the playoff pool, I need your picks by 7:30 WED night. I'll send reminders out tonight.

I really suck at this.

NYY, PHI, NYY, PHI, PHI, NYY, PHI

Game 1 I see Phils 2 Yanks 1, or maybe 3-2 bottom 7th or 8th and it will be on Lidge and Co. I say 99.9% Phillies blow it in that situation. So I got the Yanks game 1. Game 2 will be a slug fest so you have to favor the Yanks at home. I think Phillies get game 3 but if its Pedro pitching I have my doubts he will contain the Yankee lineup. Game 4 I'd lean towards the Phils getting to C.C a bit, but I can see it slipping away late for either team. So the series would be 2-2 at best for Philly. Game 5 I'll go Phillies. If its 3-2 Philly going back to game 6 I think they will get it done. If Yanks are up 3-2 it doesn't look good at all. Oddly enough I have the Phils winning 3 straight down 3-1.

Wow, I had forgotten all about the pool. Go figure. Let's see...

Phillies in 6 NYY, PHI, PHI, NYY, PHI, PHI

More wishful thinking then anything at this point.

You keep getting cooler and cooler, between this and the political forums.

I'm expecting him to never say anything during post-game interviews.

Since it's in the past and all.

I guess this opens the door for future roid users to be coaches too. Mac's rep was about as ****** as could be as any MLB player/former player with his congressional debacle.
