2010 NFL Draft Discussion

More importantly, he was one of the best return men coming out last year. And with Holmes gone, he offers tremendous value as a punt returner.

Stefan Logan has proven to be a kick ass return man.

Buffalo will likely falter and will have a good shot at Ryan Mallet, Jake Locker and Andrew Luck.

And thus continuing their 15 year long search for a replacement for Jim Kelly.

Carolina got Pike? if so I'm loving that!

trade Claussen and get Peppers back :( I miss him already

Pike is a system QB. He's a winner, but that spread offense hurts him greatly. If there was a Veteran QB on the roster, then Pike would develop nicely, but he looks like he was picked by the Panthers for depth, while Moore can start and Clauson can be groomed.

i like pike a lot so im still happy

:awesome:

 Bye bye Jerome Simpson. Love the Shipley pick.... might have to get his jersey

this is the first year where i've actually wanted to buy a jersey, but i'm not sure which i'd get

Agreed. Obviously I'm going to wait and see how he fairs, but if he lives up to expectations, then a Shipley jersey will be mine.

Peppers is a cancer and lazy. He didn't have the nicest things to say about Carolina when he left. If my memory is right. Ok, maybe not a cancer, but he is lazy. He doesn't give 100% every game.

I love Moore so much I already dislike Clauson and to a lesser degree Pike. But I understand they add depth and sadly it seems no matter what Moore does this year as a starter (if he starts at all, and starts entire season) he is gone come the lockout of 2011. Moore could lead Carolina to a Super Bowl win this year and probably get traded lock out or no lock out.

And yes, I know Steve Beurlien went to ND...but he was *awesome*. I can't remember why he left though after the 2000 season.

Clausen is such a good fit in Carolina. His deep ball is absolutley perfect for Steve Smith.

JC will find a lot of success there.

Hmm, I'm gonna name two Longhorn receivers off the top of my head.

Roy Williams. Limas Sweed.

Uhhhh.....

I think Jimmy Clausen will be the opening day starter for the Panthers. While I love what Moore did at the end of last season, I think Clausen beats him out in Camp/Pre-Season.

Moore deserves better. He deserves a moore chance.

:o I just love the fact his last name...can be u know...

I heard Clausen on his over-the-phone ESPN chat talkin smack about Matt Ryan..lol

Haha yeah I heard that two. He wants revenge for the BC game. I wanna see him start just for him to play the Falcons.

On a seperate note I pissed off my friend (who's a huge Notre Dame fan and hates Tim Tebow) so much by (before you read it, I don't believe it myself guys, I did it for fun) telling him that Clausen will end up being as bad a Brady Quinn, who will back up Tebow. The look on his face was classic and hilarious. He was so angry at me as me and all of my other friends busted out laughing.

Well Matt Ryan is gonna take a lot of punishment from Julius Peppers - No thats not right,
Kris Jenkins - Nope not right either,
Will Witherspoon - that hasn't been right in years

Dammit what happened to the Panthers D?

Kris Jenkins wasn't a huge loss for the Panthers. He's constantly injured.

They have Thomas Davis and Captain Munnerlyn.

Jets should only play him the first four weeks and the last 6 weeks or so. Give him October/November off if they want him healthy down the stretch.

So who does everyone think are the winners and losers from this draft? (I think Norm Kiper Jr. said he'd have a detailed team by team grade analysis eventually).

Winners

Seattle: Carrel is a tremendous judge of talent, and sat back and let the talent fall to him with three outstanding first picks in Okung, Thomas, and Tate.

Cincinnatti: Carson Palmer will have an entire buffet of weapons to choose from this year with Gresham, Shipley, and the Kansas WR complimenting Bryant and Ochocinco. This will take the load off of Benson and make him more effective as well. Carlos Dunlap in that secondary was a great value pick.

Detroit: I have made a personal note to never play poker with Mark Mayhew. He gets the best player in this draft with Suh, then goes out and grabs a pick from a divisional rival to grab a potential home-run gamebreaker in Best. He will add explosiveness to special teams and work his way into splitting time with Kevin Smith.

Baltimore: Sergio Kindle AND Mt. Cody? Good luck trying to get past 700 pounds between Cody and Ngata, and Kindle can be a harder hitting Terrell Suggs. Don't forget that Bolden is basicall a part of this draft class for peanuts, giving Flacco a legit weapon.

Oakland: They're a winner just for not being a loser in this draft or taking the fastest 40 time. Great, solid picks all around to sure up the trenches and bring in Jason Campbell.

As Norm said, there weren't many losers in this draft, but the bottom of this draft class, to me, includes:

Jacksonville: Grabbing four D-linemen with your first four picks when you have glaring needs on both sides of the ball makes little sense. They need a playmaker outside of Mojo to inspire the city and they didn't do it (Though they're likely moving to LA soon anyway).

Denver: This all rides on one player. Ironically, it seems McD is banking on Tebow being his savior. Tebow has every intangible and THEN some, but there is a big, glaring question about whether his QB skills can be groomed into the next Elway for the Broncos. IF McD grooms Tebow into the next Brady or Cassel, then he makes one of the greatest picks ever, but if not, then Denver will have more than likely wasted three to five years in passing guys like Jake Locker next year.

Chicago: On the losing end because of the Cutler trade that gutted them. They made a few good picks, but they were butchered from the beginning and didn't get to pick until the third round! I don't like Chicago spending one of those picks on a QB, even if it's in the sixth round. They needed to draft for their needs and hope they pan out, not draft for depth with LeFevour.

Buffalo: Maybe they're hoping for Jake Locker or Andrew Luck next year, but other than CJ Spiller, I didn't like their draft. They wait til the fifth round to grab a tackle, which they desperately need to keep Edwards' head attached to his body. Personally, I would have taken Gerhart over Spiller to get some smashmouth football going, but Spiller will be a home run hitter nonetheless. There was not much value I could find in their other picks.

I thought Seattle and San Francisco absolutely killed it. Seattle got starters across the board, and got some veteran bodies to help carry the running game. Frisco bolstered their offensive line and got a playmaker with Mays.

[Homer Alert!]

Tampa also had a great draft. Two playmakers at defensive tackle with McCoy and Price, and two playmakers at wideout with Benn and Williams. Not to mention Lewis, who'll probably be a nickel starter immediately.
