I wonder how soon the phrase "Bring Back the Sex Cannon" will start appearing on hand-made signs in the bleachers of FedEx Field.

BeckGruber is every bit as horrible as many of us expected him to be. His point count today matches the number of games he's won: ZERO.

I feel bad for Redskins fans but I selfishly want the team to keep sucking because that team is hands-down the most entertaining soap opera in professional sports.

I love it. Especially after the week-long Tebow Slobberfest on ESPN.

So did I. ESPN's praise of Tim Tebow was irritating.

Now we got Gator and Bronco fans trying to start a fad with 'Tebow-ing'.

...Kill me.

Shanahan is showing exactly why Cowher will not return. Shanahan is slowly but surely tainting his legacy. He has gone from someone who would have been seen as one of the definitive coaches of the 90s to someone who is seen as the guy who rode Elway's coattails and cut it without a franchise QB. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

But right now, Cowher is seen as one of (if not THE) best coach of his generation. He has a ring. He will eventually make HOF. He has nothing to gain by coming back. Neither did Shanahan. Cowher is seeing Shanahan had a lot to lose though, by coming back. And he won't make the same mistake.

Yep, totally agree. I think there's a slight chance Cowher will make a comeback but I think it's a very slim one, and if it does happen, I think it will be with a team where the entire situation isn't f***ed like it is in places like Washington and Miami. Because if you can turn a bad team around you're a hero, but if you make a bad team worse (or keep it bad) people question your ability.

I don't see Cower making the Hall of Fame. You usually have to be pretty innovative or win around three titles to get in. Well, at least now and days. There are a few exceptions to this with guys like Marv Levy getting in. But really, I don't see guys like Cower or Holmgren getting in. Each who have one ring with two Super Bowl appearances. Mike Shanahan may not even get in and he has two rings and had a good amount of success after John Elway left.

And Shanahan probably came back because he loves coaching and the challenge of winning. I don't think he cares about his legacy or Hall of Fame eligibility at this point. He just likes coaching.

49ers keep winning!! Thank heavens for Harbaugh!!

The season is kind of bitter-sweet for me. Sure we're winning and we're off to a great start, but the one thing I wish we were better at was the passing game and our quarterback situation. Nothing can be changed now and Harbaugh has done a great job with Alex Smith especially with what happened with the lockout. However, we need to get better as time goes on. The 49ers aren't attempting that many passes and that's fine, but in crunch time I really don't have faith in Alex Smith to get a winning score or rather, carry a team. Frank Gore isn't going to be able to run like this forever. And I can't remember a team that ranked near last in passing yards that won the Super Bowl, let alone made it. Smith is a good game-manger at this point, but nothing more. But passing for under 200 yards a game isn't going to cut it in the future when times get tough and the 49ers play tougher teams.

I feel like this team is going to end up like the 2001 Bears, 2003 Ravens, 2003 Cowboys, 2005 Bears, or 2008 Titans. All good defensive teams that had a good run game and made the playoffs, but were one and done because their passing game was not very good at all. Most teams that win the Super Bowl have a good quarterback. That is just how it is unfortunately. I'm already hoping the 49ers are looking at some quarterbacks in this upcoming draft.

I can't wait to play the Giants. I hate the Giants. Still not over that 1990 NFC Championship game.

Meh, Alex Smith's not the QB they want... but he's the one they need right now. :brucebat:

He's sturdy, doesn't turn over the ball and waste the opportunities their defence and running game gets them.

I think you're nuts. Cowher will get in eventually. He may be like Dick LeBeau and get in late in his life, but he'll get in. 10 play-off berths in 15 years, 8 division titles, 6 AFC Championship appearances and 2 Super Bowl appearances. Cowher is the most winning coach of that 90s era generation. He will be in the HOF eventually.

Denver fans got what they wanted with Tebow starting. Not sure if he'll develop, but right now he is just bad.

They need to get him a line as well, and he barely has any receivers.

Tebow does lack a pro arm, but what the hey...give him a shot to play QB

With the 49ers playing well, it is as you've said bittersweet because we've outplayed ourselves out of a top 10 draft pick (in our case a excellent QB we're seeking). Alex Smith is adequate for now, however when crunch time rolls around & playoffs, I don't think he'll be able to get the job done. I also think Kendall Hunter is a good RB if & when Gore no longer can't put up yardage.
