I don't think anyone thought that Albert Pujols would leave St. Louis either.

If Brees though decides to walk, a line forms to the left of teams interested.

If I was Mickey Loomis, I would pay Brees as a "Great QB", but I think it would be a mistake for any other team to.

I think Brees needs Sean Payton to be elite.

Yeah, I just saw the story on it at noon. Guess they are going to be in defense rebuilding mode now. Should be interesting to see who steps up in those open positions now.

This certainly has been an interesting offseason so far for the Steelers. I'm even more curious to see what they do in the draft now.

And see how Tomlin fares, now that the coattails are disappearing.

Indeed. With the stars of the "Cowher" era leaving, new "Tomlin" stars emerging, and Haley coming in, this upcoming season should be very interesting watching Tomlin implement more of his system.

Risky business, Ray Rice gets the Franchise tag: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7637055/ray-rice-given-baltimore-ravens-franchise-tag

Couldn't give less of a damn about them cutting Lee Evans or Chris Carr for that matter, but we should have worked out a deal with Rice. There was more than ample time, his Agent actually went down a bit from his original offer, & he led the NFL in yards from scrimmage.

If anything, putting this Tag on him will end up costing them more than it would have barring an injury during the season, he knows he's the focal point of the offense & they can't afford to let him walk.

I remember that NFC game in 2010, they really kicked the crap out of Farve.

Who dat say we gonna do bounty hits?

Bengals Franchise Mike "Don't call me Ted" Nugent.

Yea, the Saints are one of the teams I end up seeing play the most each year, they are dirty. No doubt about it, and it's been known since they tried to end Favre's career in the NFC Championship game.

Fixed.

Well, they actually ended Warner's career.

Favre had that one game where he put up 400 yards the next season, then he got murdered by the Bears in his last game.

Patriots had what a $250k fine against them? Lost of 1st Round Draft pick.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a $1 mil fine or suspension on Williams, $500k on Loomis. Not so much on Benson, since he "tried" to stop it but it was on his watch.

Btw, I'm hearing Williams did the same stuff in Washington. (Shefter is reporting.)

Then there's the 25+ defensive players on the Saints.

I think there's going to a huge hammer that comes down on them. Fines, suspensions and lost of draft picks (plural).

I do think that this stuff goes on, maybe not to this extent but it's there. The Saints just got caught.

I also think they must have so much on Williams that he didn't even bother denying it and already released a statement.

Thats huge. This isn't at all surprising though. As a fan of a team that plays them twice a year, iv seen this s**t first hand on multiple occasions. Hope the NFL drops the damn hammer.

Pro Football Talk suggests removing the Franchise tag from the Saints, making Drew Brees an unrestricted free agent if he does not have a new deal.

Who woulda thunk it...The Saints a bunch of dirty rotten cheating cheaters. Looking for more than the team and coach being fined $250K each, and loss of a 1st rounder.

This is legit.

Well it's not really cheating....actually, it's not at all.

Well it's not really cheating....actually, it's not at all.

I know, I was being facetious. Though, I guess that is hard to see on a message board...

What it is though, is clearly violating rules that are in place in a league that has at times gone overboard with it's concern for player safety. And is certainly more serious than the whole Spygate issue, or even the Broncos fudging of the salary cap during it's Superbowl years.

This was meant to injure opposing players, and that has no place in the sport.

Indeed. Those who deliberately try to hurt other players are trash.

This scandal has me so giddy with joy! Nothing makes me happier than seeing these Saints screwing up, hoping for a punishment of the full extent.

Pretty much every defensive player speaking on the issue seem to be upset.....that the League is going to come down hard on the Saints.
