Peyton Manning met with the Fins Coaches & staff in Indy for 5 to 6 hours last night

I can't believe Goodell is taking away cap space from the Redskins (and Cowboys). That year when they spent a lot was an uncapped year. They shouldn't be able to retroactively apply the new cap rule. That's Ex Post Facto law. This really sucks because I'm sure the Redskins were going to be really active in FA.

It looks like Peyton Manning will make his decision tomorrow or Thursday

Yeah, I was wondering about that. How can you overspend in an uncapped year?

They didn't fully comply with the rules. They changed contracts that were already in place so larger portions of the contract were paid in full during the uncapped year. In other words they tried to circumvent the salary cap they knew was going to be there and got caught.

But the contracts were approved by the management council. I call BS on the whole thing.

My guess is there was a "gentleman's agreement" between the owner's and Goodell for the uncapped year not to overspend as it would weaken the league's position with the NFLPA in the possibly (at the time) coming lockout.

Jones and Snyder tried pulling a Yankees/Red Sox on the whole thing, apparently the league warned them about it 6 times according to the Deadspin article:

http://deadspin.com/5892791/in-the-...alance-the-nfl-plays-the-bully-and-the-tyrant

and now the other owners/Goodell are punishing them for not falling in line.

My point is that if the contracts were questionable, they shouldn't have been approved by the council in the first place. Now the council is punishing them for something had no issues signing off on in 2010. It's just looks bad. Not much to do about it I suppose. Just the League being the League.

Thanks for that article by the way. Good read.

I know it's unlikely, but I want Carolina to get Matt Moore back as the #2 guy. Anderson and Clausen can go to the CFL or UFL. No faith in them I have. Granted, Anderson knows the OC so....

Matt Moore is so awesome that when he gets sacked in the end zone, HIS team gets two points.

Giants re-sign Terrell Thomas. I don't know what that means for Aaron Ross, although I would think that means he plays elsewhere in 2012.

The magic of Matt Moore continues

Okay that might make me excited for Avengers....Nah

About two hours until the spending starts.

I'm disappointed Colston is off the market. Sounds like he re-upped with the Saints.

that's kind of the point, the league had no legal basis to deny them and couldn't, but there was a "gentleman's agreement" b/t the 32 owners (i.e. collusion) not to blow contracts up for that year

honestly think he's a by product of Brees. Not sure he's anywhere near as good outside of New Orleans (assuming they resign Brees that is)

You're probably right, but he would be a huge upgrade over what the Bears have and he's obviously more of a proven commodity than a draft pick.

damnit 49ers instead of getting colston...we get randy moss:(

It sounds like Vicent Jackson is most likely headed to TB (according to reporters in Chicago). We'll see in about an hour.
