I doubt Peyton would want to be the guy to piss off Tebowmania would he ? Not the best start for him. To come to a new team & then piss off the fan base. He would be booed at home games

They're saying that a reason why they want to get Manning is because Manning has the talent to silence the Tebow critics. Tebow just doesn't have the talent to be the star quarterback for the Broncos, but he's developed such a massive following that unless you get someone absurdly talented like Manning, there's going to be a huge chunk of fans pissed off.

Reports are saying that Manning has turned down the Redskins.

I can imagine a chat between Peyton and Dan Snyder...

Manning: Hello?
Synder: Peyton, my man. Dan Snyder, Washington Redskins here.
Manning: Just a second. *puts phone on mute and has a good laugh :funny:* Ok, I'm back.
Snyder: I just found about the Colts giving you the boot. Hows about coming to play here in Washington?
Manning: BUahahahahahaha!!!!!! :funny:....*continues laughing and hangs up*
Snyder: :csad:

Meanwhile in SF, Alex Smith and the 49ers can agree on a length of and $$$ of a contract.

A long contract is what Smith probably wants but you don't give him a contract like that after only one good year.

I'm expecting a 2-3yr deal for alex:woot:

It was then that Snyder realized it wasn't Peyton, yet division rival Eli making a prank phone call.

In related news, Orson Charles is an idiot.

Brandon Jacobs is released.

Thanks for 7 years.

Dolphins better not screw this up. They need to offer the most money and nail the pitch to him. Broncos will set the bar and Miami can go over it.

The big worry for me is if the owner and GM screw it up for the Dolphins...which is possible.

I think that's what the 49ers reportedly want to give him. His agent wants 5 years.

5 years? Seems to me that Alex and his agent think too highly of his ability after only 1 good year from the 9 years he spent with the Niners. I'd rather give him an one-year deal to see if last season was a fluke first. It's not like other teams are trying to sign him away from San Fran, anyway.

As for Redskins, even if they weren't so terrible with a lousy owner (which they are), Peyton won't want to have to face his brother Eli twice a year in the same division, anyway, so it was doomed from the start.

Reports are saying that Denver will not let Peyton Manning leave Denver until he signs a contract. No visiting other teams

Nadda

They want him to sign tonight

What are the Colts doing? They have pretty much nothing left on that roster.

I wonder how the Tebow Maniacs will feel about Peyton Manning signing with Denver, if he does.

I don't see how Peyton would allow himself to be strong-armed into signing an agreement; it's not like he doesn't have any leverage whatsoever.

Pretty soon Andrew Luck will have to throw the pass to himself and double as a defensive end on the other side to make up for the roster. :hehe:

Maybe they aren't strong arming him but are giving him an offer that he can't refuse. Reports are saying that the Broncos are essentially willing to do anything to get Manning.

I think Denver wants Peyton to sign tonight because after this courtship it'd be hard for them to go back to Tebow if Peyton decided not to sign. This clearly shown that neither Elway nor Fox have alot of confidence in Tebow and would rather have a QB with 4 neck surgeries to replace him as the starter. Some feelings will be bruised after this no matter what.

Well maybe if Tebow didn't suck :o

EDIT: You also have to take into account that this will probably make Denver look really bad PR wise if they don't get Manning to sign on account of Tebowmania.

Yeah, Tebow may not be a good QB, but he has a top-selling jersey and there's a horde of Tebowmania on Denver and elsewhere. So Elway tried to appease his fan base by letting him start, thinking that once he loses they'd jump off the bandwagon but it didn't happen this way. If they can get Manning, even the most ardent fans of Tebow would concede that it is better to let a HOF QB start than him. But if they don't, watch out.
