If I were to wager on it, I believe the Panthers will actually have a better record than the Raiders.

When a division is unpredictable between all 4 teams, then it's tough. The NFC South was like that for some time. The last 4 years in the NFC East, each team has won it. There's no solid bet on who will win this division. It could be any one of them.

I honestly think it is the toughest division in football at the moment.

The only thing that makes the NFC East "tough" is the fact that all 4 teams are about equal in their level of mediocrity.

If the Giants aren't a dynasty then who is? The Patriots?

lol

The Giants aren't anything even close to a dynasty.

Are we so desperate to label something a "dynasty" that we're willing to so drastically lower the standards just to make it happen?

The Steelers really need to fix that. I have never understood why they seem to play worse against teams they should beat. Especially awful teams like the Raiders, a team that NO ONE should ever lose to. Hell, I think some college teams could beat them. Maybe even a few high school squads too.

I get the hyperbole, but there's no way the Raiders lose to a college team.

Even the worst of the worst NFL players were still the best of the best college players.

Since when did Mike Tomlin become a bad head coach?

Apparently since the Steelers have struggled a bit, that makes Tomlin a horrible coach.

My Raiders will do just fine this year. Watch and see.

lol. Bruh. You can't be serious. The Raiders are an absolute joke.

If Rivera doesn't regress at game-management and in-game adjustments, there's no excuse for Carolina not to have more than two wins this season. :oldrazz:

I think the Panthers will be able to muster more than 2 wins. Probably a 6-10 record, somewhere in there.

According to ESPN's Twitter, Josh Brent has "retired". lol

Par for the course with the Cowboys. :o

It's tough for me to predict but I believe The Panthers can get to .500 this season. Our secondary is in horrid shape, our offensive line is shaky, Cam still lacks weapons and our squad is relatively young (25.3) but we were 0:50 seconds away from a playoff birth.

Our front seven is giving me hope though.

Panthers have a tough schedule. I can see them getting to 9-7 and have a shot at a Wild Card. If they can win their division games, then they sneak into the playoffs.

I think their season rides on those first 3 games before the bye. They HAVE to get out of there at least 2-1.

I'll make this annual comment now and then come back when the preseason is nigh: the Chiefs won't suck this year.

I think the Chiefs can make a run to .500 this season. They'll be MUCH better than last years 2-14 team.

Considering the schedule we got, 9-7 with a Wildcard shot would mean the world to Panther fans. I'm excited that we drafted Star Lotulelei and Kawann Short to plug the middle but our amateur/college caliber receiving core needs to step it up. All Cam has is an aging HOF'er in Smitty.

I feel for Newton. I've accepted that he'll be hated no matter what he does but the front office has been wasting his talent.

I'll be rooting for them.

The better they do, the better the draft pick the 49ers get.

Also, I'd just like to see Alex Smith have success. He's deserving of it.

When Newton's contract runs out, he is getting the f*** out of Carolina. We all know that he is doing the best he can with what he's got. He has shown signs of an "elite" QB, plus he can be a mean mobile QB as well. Free agency for him will be insane.

Carolina isn't about to let Cam walk away. He's their first true franchise QB ever. They're already considering a contract extension for this season, and he may end up getting paid like a Superbowl-winning QB. There's no way he makes to free agency, especially after his first two record-breaking seasons. If I were Gentlemen, I'd do everything in my power to draft Marqise Lee, Sammy Watkins, Jordan Matthews and/or Mike Evans next year in the draft.

I hope so. I don't know why they haven't built around Newton effective in the two years he's been there. That offense should have been a high powered one by now. I'm a Carolina native so I actually have a soft spot for them.

Agreed. Last year, they had a third-string quarterback starting for them.

This year, they at least have a back-up quarterback starting. :woot:

They can't possibly fail with Alex Smith. :o

LOL

In all seriousness, it will be interesting to see if Smith can actually prove himself to be starter material. I know he had success in one and a half seasons in San Fran, but his role was very minimized there. Perhaps he can prove to everyone that he deserved to be a #1 draft pick, though I don't know.

One things for sure, he'll probably be able to beat the Steelers whenever he plays them, because we always seem to play like crap against Kansas City, even when they're terrible.

It irritates me, but Hurney deserves most of the blame on that one. During his tenure he never drafted a single receiver in the first round (never considered Julio Jones or AJ Green or Calvin Johnson), and never considered a big name free agent either (ex. Vincent Jackson)... yet he overpaid players such as Delhomme like crazy. Smitty is a beast but he can't handle triple and double teams like he use to -- he's sadly getting old.

I will give Hurney credit for drafting Cam, Kuechly, Beason, T. Davis, J-Stew, C. Johnson, D-Will, Da Kraken, Gamble, Peppers, Gross, etc. He knew how to pick 'em in the first and fifth rounds but he was abysmal everywhere else.
