Wilfork has asked for his release, i didn't expect that at all.

Eh, he's got 2 rings. He's trying to make as much money as he can as his career winds down. More power to him. He's forever a great Giant player to me.

True, but as a player there's two things you should shoot for. (1) Super Bowl rings & (2) excellent stats to maybe someday earn a spot on the HOF.

Justin Tuck and LaMarrr Woodley to the Raiders!:eek:

God damn, Raiders. Didn't expect them to go this big in Free Agency.

These probably won't make a huge difference for the team, but its impressive nonetheless.

Star+Short+Hardy+Johnson with Wilfork in the rotation? Holy poo. Gettleman is apparently already making a move on him.

Ginn signed with The Cardinals
Mitchell signed with The Steelers
Munnerlyn signed with The Vikings

I can't say I'm too broken up about losing these guys. They're good guys but I'm glad we didn't overspend on second-tier personnel like we have in the past. Hopefully we'll sign Tillman and/or Cromartie and Nicks to fill the holes, and head into the draft with the BPA philosophy.

Heads up Steeler fans, I hope your pass rush is at least average because Mitchell isn't a cover guy.

Yeah, I read a few things about Mitchell really benefiting from Carolina's awesome front seven and won't shine in Pittsburgh due to that. I'm hoping that he surprises people. With that said, he's younger and faster than Ryan Clark. That hopefully will count for something.

Don't get me wrong, Mitchell is a playmaker but Rivera and Gettleman found a way to employ his explosive speed and tackling. In reality, we were playing with two Strong Safeties because Mike is your typical in-box safety (great against the run; above average blitzing).

So long as The Steelers don't use him in coverage as a traditional Free Safety, I think he'll thrive.

He was never going to make the HoF. Let him go get his money.

But was he as good as Mike 'Man. Ment--Minter. Oh geez, I forgot how to spell his name. He needs to be in Carolina's HOF.

So...

Two OL called it quits/retired.
Best WR got released. Another WR walked to Arizona.
And two DB's left

Can the team clone Greg 'WR pretending to be a TE' Olsen? :o

Why not? They have a ton of cap space available.

So I guess the Bengals didn't do much in the way of Free Agency... at least not yet. They let Harrison and Johnson go, but they resigned Tate and sounds like they will match the Browns' offer for Hawkins.

I hate losing Johnson but am okay with losing Harrison. I had high hopes for him this past year but he didn't really make much of a difference. I'm mixed on resigning Tate. I'm not really against the guy but feel like we could do better. Still, I hope he improves. I'm glad they plan to match for Hawkins though. The guy is a good player with a lot of potential. I'd like to see him stay a Bengal for another couple of years before just dropping him to a divisional rival. I mean, if a rival gets him I'd like it to be the Browns but not just yet.

Am I missing anyone? We didn't pick up anyone new that I missed did we?

The Raiders almost always have a ton of cap space. I just didn't expect them to bring in big names like a Justin Tuck or LaMarr Woodley. I expected them to go out and spend alot getting some players with lower stock than those guys, but who can still play at a high level. Also, whom will have a bit longer expectancy on their usefulness. Unlike Tuck who may not have too much time left in the NFL, depending on how well he's performing over the next few years.

And most of the big names in free agency right now ARE players who have been around for a while. Tuck might actually be one of the older players. And while older, more experienced players is what the Raiders need right now to get their younger players up to snuff (though moreso on offense), I just didn't expect them to go this direction.
