A fan response to Buckley story

As in any good investigation, start with who had the most to gain. In this case, the team who's only chance to win was by impacting the other team's ability to perform. Only way the Colts win is if they affected the Patriots by messing with their footballs. The evidence is clear. Apparently, only the Colts knew of the problems with the footballs and not the Patriots. That seems to be a very important fact. The evidence also shows that the Colts were able to keep the game close only in the first half by keeping the Patriots from only scoring 17 points when the Patriots footballs were tampered with. Without that disadvantage, the evidence shows that the Patriots scored 28. The ingenious part of this plan is the planting of the idea that it was the Patriots who messed with their own footballs. After all, who is the public going to believe, the Colts or the Patriots? As we have seen, no one believes the Patriots even though no evidence has been produced yet. However, perhaps the fact that the refs apparently didn't tell the Patriots they were investigating them at half time interefered with the plot to affect their focus in the second half. It is also very interesting that the leak to the press only went to a Colts reporter. Who leaked it to them and why? Best way to cast attention away from oneself is to find a perfect patsy; couldn't resist. However, Belichick is straight out of central casting for that role. The Patriots did not need to take any action regarding the footballs to beat the Colts. The past three games conclusively prove that point. The Patriots knew it, and the Colts did too. So who had more to gain, obviously its the Colts. Patriots did not need to do it, nor did they. Now the question is, how did they do it. This is where the forensic evidence will be key. What happened to the footballs after they left the ref's room. Who had the access, when and for how long. Perhaps there will be video evidence to show all who came into contact with the footballs. I'm not biting the cheese in the trap that the Patriots are cheaters and will cheat whenever and wherever they can, just because. The motive from someone one the Colts side is far too strong to ignore. Follow the motive and you will find your responsible party. Good luck.

This this this.... I would love for this to be true!

Patriots have a press conference and I don't think it will be to talk about a McCourty extension, pretty nervous about this

It was Belichick once again denying that he or his QB deflated the footballs. Nothing new....

While, my position hasn't changed on this, his explanation was kind of flawed. The Colts footballs were in the same weather conditions and weren't under under the regular weight.

Are we still talking about this?

Yes. Until the NFL completes their investigation and metes out some sort of punishment, it is a perfectly valid topic.

Why would they give out punishment? None of this to my eyes looks like the Pats did anything wrong.

To your eyes.

We will see what the NFL says. Of course, I would not be a bit surprised if the NFL comes back with no punishment. Goodell wouldn't want to make his good buddy Robert Kraft look bad.

I wouldn't if I was Goodell either, $$$$$$.

I'm not even a football fan really and I find this witch hunt after the Patriots to be ridiculous.

Haven't various people solved this scientifically? So many people seem keen on finding some kind of ill conceived conspiracy. Deflategate has to be one of the dumbest "controversies" of recent memory. Wouldn't the flat balls affect both teams? I mean it's ridiculous this whole thing.

Each team brings their owns balls to throw/kick with.

I'm reserving judgement on everything until I hear what the NFL finds in their investigation.

This whole situation is silly, and clearly drummed up and blown out of proportion to make the Patriots look bad as they seek to win their first Super Bowl in years.

It's interesting because without this story, the past week and this week would have all been about Brady and Belichick's Legacy as arguably the best QB and Coach.

There was even a poll on ESPN if their victory is tainted and about a 50/50 split unless you're from New England.

Deflategate. That is what ESPN is now calling it.

This is the pinnacle of first world problems. Next there's going to be controversy on how grass on some fields is too light of a green.

I'm no Patriot fan, especially with the controversy surrounding The Panther-Patriot Super Bowl BUT this topic has been blown up to epic proportions to the point where the media is just gonna motivate Darth Hoodie and The Patriots to blow out The Seahawks. It's bad enough you've got Seattle players taunting Brady and Gronk but now that the media is taking shots at New England... it might just be that perfect storm brewing.

Honestly, I don't even think Belichick has anything really to do with this...

That's the funny thing about all this. Somehow he's become this face of Patriots-as-cheater-scumbags... they'd been dodgy as hell for years before Belichick even arrived - they just weren't dominant at the time.

I actually agree. If I was a Patriot fan, I would almost be glad that something like this came along. I could easily see this controversy motivating the Patriot players way more than anything Belichek could say to them.

Of course, if they do win, most everyone outside of NE will be wondering how they cheated and got away with it this time...:shr:

I think it's safe to say this controversy will stem into the offseason.

This is exactly what I've been thinking.

If it weren't for "deflate-gate," the Patriots would have received nothing but praise for the two weeks leading up the game. However, due to the hysteria, they've received nothing but negativity from every direction (mixed with the jabs by the Seahawks, as you said), and I feel like the Patriots will come out of the gates firing on all cylinders.

Belichick looked like he could care less about all of this on Monday. In his recent presser, though, he seemed pretty damn annoyed, and I feel like the team will respond to him.

This is the pinnacle of first world problems. Next there's going to be controversy on how grass on some fields is too light of a green.

:funny:

Some fields aren't green at all, and yes those should be outlawed, or never allowed to be shown on TV. Boise State to be exact...

Some Division II school has a red field, it is hideous.

According to Adam Schefner, Josh Gordon failed another drug test and is going to be up for a year long suspension. Can't say I'm shocked.

Love it, with patriots getting called out and the browns getting another setback.
