2016 Primaries and Caucuses Thread - Part 1

Trump wins Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Maryland. Clinton wins Maryland.

Tonight is definitely cementing a Clinton/Trump race.

Who the **** are all these rich people voting for Donald Trump?

*insert bernie sanders sound of silence gif*

Just don't see how the Republican elite justify taking election away from Trump even if he doesn't get enough delegates...Especially since his lead is growing each and every week, do they realize how many voters they would alienate if they chose Kasich or Cruz over Trump after he destroyed them head to head...

As much as I (deep down) want Cruz to win the Republican nomination, I must admit part of me finds it great seeing him get such low polling numbers in these NE states. It would be so funny to see him get 9.9% of the vote in Rhode island because if he got 10% he would get 2 delegates. lol

Looks like Bernie might squeeze a win out of Connecticut. Was hoping hed lose them all so hed accept defeat. But Im sure now that he has won Rhode Island and possibly Connecticut he will send out the "Hopeful Dreamers" to proclaim that he can still totally win the nomination.

Is the nomination still in reach mathematically for Sanders at this point?

Mathematically yes, realistically he would have to win California by like 75%-25% and most other states by a similar margin

The map from this point forward doesn't look that bad for Sanders but he will only gain like 10 delegates here, 5 delegates there, so it will be real hard to catch up to the 300 delegate lead Hillary has before the Super delegates

At this point, Clinton could lose every remaining contest and still win the nomination, Sanders would have to take more than three-quarters of the remaining delegates up for grabs in order to block her victory. That would mean winning the remaining states by 20-point margins.

That was as of YESTERDAY....he already missed that mark today.

Most of the primaries today were closed, so Independent voters like myself would not have been able to vote which would have bode much better for Bernie.

There is no longer enough uncommitted super delegates left for him to come close.

If he plans on taking this all the way to the convention floor and trying to get super delegates to switch, he is only hurting the party, and I can't say "his" party because it isn't....so I see him taking this all the way, and for me, that REALLY takes him down a lot of notches in my "respect book".

Looks like Connecticut is called for Hillary, although very close vote. I am not sure how the delegates will be split up tonight but my guess is Clinton gets anywhere from 50-75 more then Sanders between all 5 states. She got a huge win in Maryland and seems to be having a decent sized win in Pennsylvania

Clinton has won Connecticut

It's going to be Trump vs Hillary.

Even if Trump falls short of a majority of delegates, he's mathematically eliminated everyone else by a longshot more than 2 months before the convention. The GOP voters have spoken, and I don't think they'll decide that going against them will be worth it.

On a sad note looks like Cruz got more then 10%(10.3) in Rhode Island. I was hoping he would not crack that mark just as a point about NY Values. Basically 1 vote less then 10% Cruz would get 0 delegates, now he will get 2-3

ETA I forgot he needs to get 10% in each congressional district to gain 1 delegate(in each), he only did that in 1 of the 2 districts. Screw You Cruz. lol

Bernie beats Hillary 55.4% to 42.9% in RI but only gains 2 delegates(before the Super Delegates)

On a side note I find it ridiculous that all these NE states vote this late in the primary while most the Southern States voted early on. They really need to mix these things up

Sanders basically saying he will stay in the race so he can win as many delegates so they can have a say in the convention platform.

He's so full of ****. This is about his pride. Since he cant win the nomination he's gonna drag this thing out until the bitter end. Hillary needs to pivot to the general election and get started on Trump before the convention. Not spend the next 2 months waiting on this old selfish fart to **** off.
