Same here. I loved it the first time, realized how underdeveloped some of the characters were the second, and then I completely wish they had altered the ending by the third viewing.
It's a good film with missed opportunities to make it great, in my opinion. But there's moments in it that I enjoyed to the point where I can watch it over and over again.

I made it to episode 6, "The Invisible Hand," about a month ago. I've been out of touch with it since, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. It has certainly lived up to the way you described it, so thank you for the recommendation
