23. Attack of the Killer Donuts (Prime Rental)
Donuts-V6.gif

Every year in college, my friends and I would host a ****** Horror Movie Halloween marathon. Now that I'm settled into my new apartment, I was able to carry on the tradition this year with a carefully curated double-feature that started with this hysterical masterwork of nonsense cinema. There are a lot of spoofs out there, and very few of them work. But the team behind 'Killer Donuts' delivered one of the funniest movies of the season. 3.5/5

24. Sleepwalkers (Prime Rental)
tumblr_pu06y04bjk1rob81ao1_r1_400.gifv

The second half of this year's ****** Horror Movie Halloween is a lot harder to score because, unlike 'Killer Donuts,' it's not TRYING to be a bad movie. A lot of fun, but it very rarely succeeds at what it's intending to do. It's just a bonkers piece of work courtesy of peak coke-fiend-era King. The best I can say is that it features the most adorable hero in horror history.

25. House '77 (HBO)
48ec13908ebbe7ded17589c97726d122a687f0ea.gifv

What the **** did I just watch? I don't know, but I think it was good. 3.5/5

The Wolfman (1941)

God do I just love the Universal Classic Monsters' movies. They're all just so charming. Lon Chaney Jr. is great, and the romance between Larry and Gwen is so touching and heartfelt. Does anyone know if they're still working on that Ryan Gosling remake?

Spookies (1986)

If you haven't seen this movie, don't let the gif deceive you. This movie is a mess because, halfway through post, the producer decided to reshoot half the movie with a new cast and crew to add a plot that's completely disconnected to anything. It's a mess, but you'll find yourself laughing like no tomorrow. The most insane scene is going to be shared below because I don't think I've laughed at anything harder than I have at this. Try not to read the video title if you can :funny:

Oof, that last one, that was quite a doozy. I mean, The Brain That Wouldn't Die wasn't great but at least it was an palatable movie. The Killer Shrews is just... yikes. But I guess that's what you get from Lowe's public domain 50 movie DVD collections. A handful of gems and a trash bag full of ****.

I thought having a certain theme or so for the last week, but since im getting a bit tired of horror movie currently, i decided to just go with what interests me.

And in this case i was surprised.
I remembered hating the movie back when it came out...but now its quite decent.
Its something for a boring evening.

The Movies biggest problem is that it tries to do too much world building, telling us why and how...which isnt the best when you have rather dull characters you barely give any time to develop character.
You have a interesting concept and characters, but never a movie that really makes you care for them.

Fun Size Review: This movie is extraordinary. I can't remember the last time I watched a movie so vacant of anything. It doesn't move at snail's pace. It simply doesn't move at all.

68. Mama
iUxtepg.gif

Fun Size Review: I vaguely remember watching this before with my brother, but I forgot so much, it felt like the first time. This is a strange movie, that starts out very blah, until it gets pretty good. I will never get over Chastain's hair, Jamie randomly playing twins and whatever in the world that ending is.

69. Vampire Academy (Nice)
9lsuXNW.gif

Fun Size Review: Oh look, Lucy Fry playing a vampire, again? Maybe she should stop doing that. For her sake, and ours. This is terrible. Like the worst version of Twilight. That said, it does have Zoey Deutch and a character with absolutely sigma hair.

Glad Audition went so well. :hehe:

70. Hereditary
hn6PuUH.gif

Fun Size Review: Pure tension. Few movies build and build like this one. Come the climax, every little thing will set you off. My favorite thing about watching this though, is how my brother always forgets the mechanics of the finale. It gets him every time.

71. Absentia
BiEDW6y.gif

Fun Size Review: Flanagan's first flick holds up nicely. Dripping in atmosphere, character and terror, the only issue here is the film is just... well rather ugly. A digital mess, brought to you by a small budget. Still, more then worth the watch.

72. It Follows
4xvKGq1.gif

Fun Size Review: This movie has one of the great jump scares I have ever seen. The concept is also brilliant. But the more times I watch it, the more questions I have. Like can It, travel over oceans? What happens if someone dies of natural causes? How is the kid who's house It is breaking into above, so easily caught, when he knew what he was setting up?

73. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
65T7Oip.gif

Fun Size Review: My favorite Sondheim musical got pretty great adaptation. Wonky CGI aside, this is a beauty, with beautiful music. Also maybe the greatest example of how a movie can be gray, and still have depth and color.

Tenebrae (1982)

Underrated Argento giallo. The mystery is very interesting, the characters are fun, and it's got a killer soundtrack. What more could you ask for?

noes_tongue.gif

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

A classic that you can't ever really go wrong with. Not my favorite of the top tier slashers, but I sure as hell have a lot of respect for it and love the trippy nature.

giphy.gif

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985)

So, this is my first time watching any of the Nightmare sequels, and what a bizarre movie this is. Usually it takes a few films for slashers to just start being goofy messes, but this franchise just jumped right into it. There's some neat ideas here and there, but the execution is horrible. The biggest surprise was the fact that the film wanted me to believe the main character was straight.

24.Dead Silence
25.I Frankenstein
26.Windmill Massacre

A dutch slasher, or dutch co-production...either way, dutch is involved...something you dont see often.

The production for that is very well done, the movie is shot well, the light, camera work, effects are all really strong.

It is a "by the book" Slasher, 100%.
Only thing it does, is change the setting to a place with a...you guessed it, Windmill.

A group of people arrives somewhere were a supernatural killer is that kills them one by one, the plot twist you expect comes, the end leaves the door open for a sequel.
The Kills are done pretty nice, the killer has a cool look...looks a bit like nemesis from Resident evil.

So there really is nothing too bad about it, i enjoyed it.

Night 26

74. It
fPoba1F.gif

Fun Size Review: I love this movie. Love it. Like the classic 80/90s kid adventure times I grew up with. Sad they never made that sequel. Would have been nice.

75. We Summon the Darkness
CowCZKP.gif

Fun Size Review: The right kind of stupid, this movie plays it straight on the good guys side, and as a parody with the villains. I am still surprised by just how good AD is here. Definitely worth a watch.

76. Ouija: Origins of Evil
TWl1oqQ.gif

Fun Size Review: Much like Annabelle: Creation, this is the sequel that renders the original terrible flick obsolete. This has no right being as good as it is. Also a part of the year that made our beloved Flanagan a thing.

77. Bram Stoker's Dracula
mnSObTz.gif

Fun Size Review: A classic, that is equal parts bonkers as it is good. Everyone here is eating scenery in a different way. Worth it's existence if just for the fun Sir Anthony is clearly having.

*sighs* sometimes you question your choices in life...watching this movie was one of those times.
Its from the same people who did...Mother Krampus...or Krampus Massacre...i dont remember, the movie witht the Female christmas killer that sucked.

I even had to pause the movie to check if i really have the right one because i thought maybe they made a mistake and had that one instead, put the wrong file there or so.
I even think they have some of the same actors...either way, it sucked hard.
So very hard...and im really depressed because of how bad this movie was.

Which sucks since the concept is cool...supernatural Tooth Fairy who kills people in horrible ways...sounds neat.
But this movie...it just sucks...trust me, it sucks.

Night 4:

Vampire's Kiss (1988)

It's hard not to enjoy this movie. Nic Cage running around for two hours thinking that he's turning am into a vampire? What a gold mine for memes and ridiculous quotes.

eRkCVhL.gif

Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)

One of the greatest pairs of animated characters finally get their own feature film? I mean it's Aardman, of course they're going to deliver a hilarious and beautifully animated film. I adore this movie so much.

*sighs* sometimes you question your choices in life...watching this movie was one of those times.
That's been a good chunk of my recent watches. What I get for being too lazy to get out some real DVDs and just using those Mill Creek/Treeline public domain box sets.

Night 27

78. The Babadook
fvAw2oG.gif

Fun Size Review: The kid. The ****ing kid. Sure, it's a great psychology tale, with a brilliant boogeyman. But all I remember is the kid, his voice and that face. Scarier then the Babadook.

79. Sleepy Hollow
VzllFa9.gif

Fun Size Review: 80s/90s Tim Burton was something. It all felt effortless, and this is no exception. I will always get a chuckle out of the ending being Batman Returns 2.0.

80. Addams Family
GsylDan.gif

Fun Size Review: Much like with Burton's classic, the Addams Family setup a generation for the gothic, macabre love. I could watch this one on repeat all Halloween, and not be one bit upset.

81. Hush
wS0DjtD.gif

Fun Size Review: Hush, aka, what would if Don't Breathe was actually good? So simple, yet so effective, with an incredible performance from Kate Siegel, these 81 mins flyby every time.

82. The Autopsy of Jane Doe (New)
epFXaxZ.gif

Fun Size Review: Our last new movie of the month was terrific. I wasn't sure what to expect here, but what I got was incredibly tense and creepy throughout. The whole thing is great, but it's that climax that will really stick with me. That song...

As bad as this is, it's just a fun one to watch. Haven't seen it in over a decade.

Night 5:

FT13ending-gif.gif

Friday the 13th (1980)

1980 was the year of creative movie twists. The killer not being the spooky story, but instead the mother is super effective, and I think it works so well because of the simplicity of the rest of the movie. I like how all the kills are POV or done quickly off screen. It just works to build tension, that's kinda lost with most of the sequels.

6a4f1b9c1a71c93c783b72e0b7c728a9d8caaf45.gifv

Friday the 13th (2009)

While Sam and Mikaela are saving Optimus Prime in the desert, Mikaela's ex-boyfriend is still the biggest tool and getting murdered by some dude with a machete. It's not half bad and there's some clever every once in awhile. Just kind of boring and the acting is all over the place. Also the title card being placed like 15 minutes into the actual movie and not after the prologue is a strange choice.
