I would like to have a tactful and open conversation about what people think about Nolan going the route of Batman vs Superman for the third ovie (please refrain from bashing previous incarnations of either and rather, discuss what COULD be done in this area that would really blow our minds).

The more I think about it, the more I would love to see Nolan make the third movie a Batman vs Superman. Consider how BB and TDK were done.. each was more or less a standalone movie, with loose tie-ins between the two. The Joker/Two-Face plot is probably one of the best story lines they could have done. As Bale said in a recent interview, doing a third movie has two really tough challenges -- first, beating the "third movie stinks" syndrome, and finding a villian that can beat Ledger's performance. Based on Nolan's past work, I think both Chris and his brother could do a kickass job with Riddler, but somehow that doesn't feel "bigger" than TDK to me (even given alternative story telling techniques, such as he used in Memento).

Just like (both) Nolan brothers like to bring us things we haven't seen before, I think Batman vs Superman would fit into that category. It would also give us a very interesting story arc of suposed dark knight vs white knight, exploring the interactions between superheroes that hasn't been seen before. It might also be the one thing to knock Marvel's Avengers out in the next few years. If you've seen the TDK, I won't mention it, but the line "now I see what I have to become to defeat men like him" and the lengths Batman and Superman would go to to stop evil, each with their own unique perspectives willing to cross different lines and having different philosophies.

Additionally, this would open the door for combining a superman villian and a batman villian into a new and fun way that hasn't been done before. We've seen Luthor/Joker team up in Batman TAS, we've seen Luthor and Joker on the screen separately, but what if it was Metallo and Black Mask, or Riddler and Intergang/Darkside.

Finally, this would give us the (arguably needed) Superman revamp into the action/adventure genre. What better way to do it than team him up with Batman in a way that would be unique (thanks to the Nolans). Given what Nolan did with Batman, I drool at the thought of what he could do with Superman, let alone combine Batman and Superman together.

Nolan would never do that and it doesn't fit the style of his movies. Sorry.

Ha ha ha he he ho ho he ha he he ho.

Its a funny board we post on. Superman Returns was great. Watch it plz.

Only after BB3... but Bale and Routh will probably have no part in it. We have to see how MOS turns out before even considering it. I think it would be better from a business perspective just to start with a JLA movie from scratch if they can't get Bale and Routh to come back.

Bale and Routh both said they were interested in both World's Finest and JLA

I actually think this could work since Batman is being hunted. Superman comes to take him down. It could work, but it'll never happen.
Nice idea though.

OH ****,you reminded me of the batman/superman cartoon when he is looking for the joker, superman TRIES to stop him because he is a vigilante.(and the way he was interrogating the guy.):whatever:.
It kinda has a connection with a Batman vs Superman movie that he comes to Gotham because he heard Batman kills people.etc....

This BVS movie not a good movie unless you gonna do TDKR film.

I have no idea how some of you think Nolan would even consider this.

I don't want it, its fine in the cartoon universe but I just can't see it here.

It's not something Nolan would do. I agree with the cartoon idea though.

I'd rather Nolan directed the next Superman movie....Bryan Singer doesn't know a good script from a bad script.

yah.. i doubt nolan is going to do a batman vs superman

im not saying that nolan should,i mean after the 3rd movie

Some people just trash the idea completely and that's the problem I have with it... Nolan moved away from realism with some of the technology used in TDK... I'd revisit this project after BB3 and maybe MOS.

only in a perfect world...we got a near perfect batman movie...two of 'em...no sense messing it up....if someone can save Superman Returns' sequel then good luck. The only mention of anything Superman related to Nolan's Batman...would be the reference of Metropolis...or something along those lines...but a crossover? Why risk it?

We've had 1 perfect Batman movie and 1 near one (I still say Holmes was bad and the end Ra's & Bats fight is too choppily edited).

Granted, I feel Superman had a perfect 1, but that was back in the 70's. Everything since has just gotten worse and worse over time. I have absolutely no faith in MoS if it ends up happening. I want a reboot.

If they ever get around to doing a live action TDKR (which I hope they do after these Nolan films, because honestly, what else can they do?) then that's the only way I can ever see them in the same film. I just think Superman, for this day and age, is too wholesome of a hero to work. He's the ultimate superhero, people dying on his watch just can't happen like it does with Batman. Superman is also just about invincible, which makes it hard to create a good movie without using some of the same devices. The whole kryptonite thing is worn out, and if you don't have that, there's really not any suspense.

I liked Superman Returns a good deal actually, but it illustrates the problems. If they try something different or radical with him, it doesnt go over too well (the whole child thing just seemed....odd, not to mention Supes hovering outside Lois' house all the time, looking through the walls) If they stick with what works, then it retreads all the good stuff of the previous movies (Lex Luthor & the Kryptonite.....again!) Its because of this that I also don't think Captain America will fare all that well at the box office, he too is just too good of a hero to be that interesting after awhile. There's a reason why Batman has the best movies, best cartoons, and the most influential comics of any superhero. Its because at heart, he's really a screwed up individual, Superman isn't
