5.09 Lexmas (Spoilers)

I hate that theory, but for some reason I just keep going back there usually for news or triplet's review and I somehow get sucked in to the boards and torture myself reading the pro-chlois posters "proof".

You put up with that Chlois nonsense on k-site for my reviews? :D

Aww... thanks for the warm fuzzy.

BTW: I think that theory is totally bogus too, so I agree with you. I've never understood it....

Anyways, did you guys like the Santa being real or not? That's the only part of this episode I didn't like, I don't know maybe I'm a cynic??

Meh... it was cheesy.

I wonder why they didnt show Clark with glasses in this eppy..i mean he IS working at the daily planet (or was in the dream). Then again...does he normally wear his glasses when he goes to Smallville??

Did you notice something? After all that speculation about what the information was in the envelope, there was NO envelope!

Never again will I trust a WB description.

At first I was like oh give me a break, then I thought to myself, ok i'm saying give me a break to Santa Claus in a show about an alien with super powers.lol It's a matter of sensitivity, I guess?
Well, it's not that far-fetched!

Well, Clark would have no reason to where glasses since this is from Lex's POV.

That being said, it would have been a nice touch if for no other reason to show Clark is older (though Tom's wardrobe and demeanor portrayed that nicely.)

Can anyone tell me if in the dream sequence part was Chloe's ever called by her name? I know weird question, but Chloesite and that Chlois theory really get on my nerves, and they keep saying over there that Chloe was never called Chloe in the dream sequence, thus proving the stupid Chlois theory, but my roommate and I swear Lex called her Chloe.

Anyways... thoughts on the episode, I thought it was very good and MR did a great job.

Now I've got to go home and rewatch it. I honestly don't remember whether anyone said her name or not. Not that it means she is Lois if they didn't. *rolls eyes*

But I have been reading their "proof" all day. I swear if I see one more post that says Clark and Chloe were together because they both work at The Planet and they purposefully avoided saying Chloe's name and that's a fact which of course proves that she is Lois I will scream. I even saw one poster in "The Thread that Must Not Be Named" say that Clark called her "honey" as they were walking away together.

Clark says that he is not ready and doesn't know if he ever will be. If that doesn't imply that is he isn't in a serious relationship, I don't know what does. Not to mention that I seem to remember Allison Mack said in the Inside TV article that Chloe wasn't with anyone and according to the Chloisers AM always speaks the gospel (unless it goes against that theory anyway).

What I don't understand is why someone who claims to be such a Chloe fan (the Chlarkers and Chloisers) would want her to be with someone who after 12 years isn't ready to committ to a serious relationship? Don't they want better for Chloe than that? I happen to like Chloe and would like her to find someone who isn't destined to end up with someone else like Clark is.

But I forgot. Clark and Lois are destined to be and Chloe is Lois obviously so they do end up together. What was I thinking?

I really did like Lexmas overall. Michael did a wonderful job. Clark was too cute in the Santa hat. I loved him speeding around Metropolis giving out the toys. Shelby makes the cutest reindeer ever. I even thought KK did a good job with her part and I am not usually a Lana fan. I'm still not sure how I feel about Santa Claus though. Maybe I should watch the ep again.

I think this envelope thing will come up later.

One of the items for sale in the Glover Alzheimer's auction is a check from Lionel made out to Jonathan for 100,000.

http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-1831456-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ACTUAL-SMALLVILLE-PROP-CHECK-USED-IN-EPISODE_W0QQitemZ4805066590QQcategoryZ18839QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Craig thought the check was from Splinter, but Lionel didn't give him a check in that episode. Not even in Clark's delusion....

A campaign contribution that high is illegal and could likely be what Griff was going to fake in order to derail Jonathan's campaign...

If that's what it is it's a huge oops for them to let that item into the auction.

Overall it was a great episode. I thought the real Santa Claus was pretty dumb though...but they more than made up for it with Lex this episode. ESPECIALLY that last scene. That made the whole episode for me. Totally cancelled out the Santa thing. Although I will say that despite whatever silliness having a real Santa may have brought to the show, the writers still nailed it when he was drunk and started talking about Christmas and how it's percieved today. It mirrored my thoughts exactly. What with fights breaking out in stores, people getting trampled, and gifts stolen from folks...it's a shame this is what this holiday has become. I thought the dialogue between Clark and Santa was still really well done and pretty much very true and relevant.

I've never seen so many people against Santa...where's the love? And one of my favorite lines in the ep is still when the little boy accused Clark of not being Santa: "I'm the new and improved model"...indeed:)

It is NOT that we are against him we are just ANNOYED. The real Santa was REALLY not needed in this Episode & that line = SO DAMN CORNY

I think this episode also confirmed that Lionel is still himself and not Jor-El. I guess we'll just have to find out how he knows about Fine and why he's helping Jonathan.

Amen, sister.
Good to see Tom being able to play closer to his real age. That long coat fit him like no one's business!

It's a good look on him. Remember the long coat he wore in Red? Yum.

Also, did anyone notice Lex called his son "Muscles?" I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. That's how being a member of the Hype will forever skew Smallville for me!

I wondered if anyone else would catch that. Kinda scary, isn't it? :)

I don't think that proves that at all.. it was a dream. It wasn't real.

*sigh*

I think my review is going to be very controversial over there on kryptonsite.

:O

so let's recap everybody..

speeding on a snowy road to get home on time..
breaking news story causing major hyperventilating..
thinking of doing something illegal  for the missed piece of the ep..

thanks, serene, you make this forum action packed..
;)
:)
Thanks, BaK. :)

Although I did have some post-ranting guilt after finding out today that a little boy was killed in the plane accident that the newsbreak was reporting. Such a freak accident.. to be driving along and suddenly have an AIRPLANE run into your car.

Oh, and thanks to my dear buddy, trip, I didn't have to break any laws afterall..this time at least. ;)

That pretty much sums up my feelings about "Chlark" as well. I would think that if you really want the best for your favorite character, you would want them to be appreciated and loved. I'm so glad they don't have Clark breaking Chloe's heart over and over again still. I wish they'd give her a boyfriend, maybe some cute guy named Jimmy who's also working at the Planet. :)

As much as I love Lana, I don't kid myself about her and Clark living happily ever after. (Although, if I wrote the ending..we'd definitely end up in Elseworlds territory. ;)). The best I hope for is for them to know some true happiness together as a couple in love, then after what will likely be a messy and sad break-up, for them to end up as lifelong friends who are supportive of each others different paths. I still think Lana will make some indication by way of comment of her support of Lois and Clark having a future together, maybe in the last episode.

Lionel playing God with Lex's life b/c he didn't want a cripple for a son was not part of the dream.

I thought it was nice in Lex's dream seeing Clark & Chloe together... they looked so happy, it was great.

One of the greatest things here was the actual art of storytelling..

1. A ''real'' life story part - Clark and Lana & co. spending their first holiday thingy..
2. An ''unreal'' Lex dream stuff part..
3. Interpolating/mixing these 2 to the point of making it 1 ''whole'', a sum bigger then parts..
And of course:
4. Adding a bit of ''magic'' (santa) to the first - ''real'' part - making the total mix truly amazing..

Is word genious appropriate? :)
